However, there’s a caveat here. In some cases, you’ll be using your computer to run the mining hardware. Your computer has its own electricity draw on top of the mining hardware, and you’ll need to factor that into your calculation.
In the 19th century, luminiferous aether (or ether), meaning light-bearing aether, was a theorized medium for the propagation of light (electromagnetic radiation). However, a series of increasingly complex experiments had been carried out in the late 1800s like the Michelson-Morley experiment in an attempt to detect the motion of Earth through the aether, and had failed to do so. An interesting notion, but my gut says overall performance will be poor for two reasons. First, memory bandwidth. Even premium dual-channel boards top out around 30 GB/s, yet the lowly 1050 Ti can do better than 100 GB/s. Second, even if you had the bandwidth, low shader count wouldn’t let you work with it fast enough. Also, you ‘d need iGPUs with OpenCL support, which I believe requires Haswell and later ( I know my Sandy Bridge HD 3000 doesn’t do OpenCL ). If you had a bunch of AMD APUs, that’s a different story, of course.
Today, yes it’s still profitable, but the question if you started today is can you break even before difficulty, god, time bombs, price drops, etc bite your ass. Yes other coins might just take over when need be (look at monero lately just about overtaking ETH profits).. But they also might not. I’d 100% tell a hobby-miner to hop in if he has the cash and wants to learn.. But dropping 20K is a gamble for sure.

With a few hours of research, the single best graphics card I found for the money which is actually in stock and has same day shipping for me is the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 04G-P4-6253-KR on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF7EQJZ. I chose this graphics card because all the others I looked at for a better value were sold out! The EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC has SAME DAY delivery near me with an estimated hashing power for ETH at 12 MH which equals repayment in less than 2 months at the current price for Ether! If I was starting today this is what I would begin with by ordering 2 to 8 of these. I am not starting today because I have a trip coming up next week and am considering beginning Ethereum mining and/or being a Steemit Witness in late June 2017.

You have to know that for Eth mining you are connecting a GPU on YOUR COMPUTER to the network… so first you need to construct the COMPUTER… that is the hard parto because for BTC, for example you could just buy a Miner… here you have to compare parts and decide… for BTC you just have to buy and configure the Miner

Your can buy prebuilt ones but if you do you are paying 2-3x what it’s worth and you won’t make an ROI in a timely manner as a result. People will only sell you a money making machine if you pay them enough money upfront that they no longer find it in their interest to just mine with it themselves. Then they’re going to take the money they made form selling you that and build themselves two mining rigs with it.
The hash rate of the RX 460 is reported to be around 11 mega-hashes per second (MHS). With a “peak” wattage consumption of 75 watts, that translates to 0.147 MHS/W. The 470 produces a hash rate of around 25 MHS with a power consumption of around 120 watts for 0.208 MHS/W. Of the two, the 470 offers better efficiency per watt. But the 460 is easier to deploy on low-cost, low-end systems. And the 470 costs a great deal more on secondary markets. More or less, the 470 is running for well over $350 on eBay, whereas you can still get a 460 for around $100.

Could you clarify how the gpus and cpu are wired up to the power supplies? I have practically no experience with hardware like this, and it’s not entirely clear from your photos how to set up the wiring.
