Impossible to predict. That depends on the development of the price, which is very volatile. Regarding the current development, ROI when spending the amount mentioned above will probably take place after about 3 months (when you’re NOT paying for electricity).
I have a big problem! I have 2 x 7950 GPUs and ASRock H61 PRO BTC mobo. When I connect GPUs via risers i don’t have screen, monitor display “No signal”. I used HDMI cable and DVI – no results. When I connect HDMI to mobo and unplugd GPUs from mobo it works perfectly.
GPU stands for Graphic Processing Unit. Most high end machines come with high-end GPUs these days. Basically this is a dedicated processor in your computer which handles graphics processing, thereby taking the load off your CPU which will perform actual computational tasks while the GPU takes care of the graphics.
The Mist package contains the Ethereum wallet which you’ll need to receive any mining profits. Mist also includes an Ethereum browser with various functions, such as messaging and a social network and tutorials. As a tip, these tutorials and the social network are helpful learning resources. Don’t be scared to ask the Ethereals if you’re experience difficulty with any part of this process.
Having been released in August 2015, this Bitcoin hardware is considered as one of the oldest in the market. In fact, it is just as efficient as the Antminer S7 and works better than the Antminer S5. It, however, costs a bit higher when compared to the Antminer S7 but delivers less return. It has a power consumption of 1100-watts, which is also a bit high and can bring in revenue of 0.12 Bitcoins in one month.
Rhodri Davies, head of policy at the Charities Aid Foundation, is enthusiastic about the potential of blockchain systems. He underlines the distinction between cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin and the underlying blockchain technology, and what it can potentially offer aid agencies and charities.
My dad and I want to start mining ethereum, but hearing about how fast bitcoin mining became obsolete we are a bit concerned. Can you give us an Idea with the cost involved in a setup such as this and how much ethereum you can mine? Thanks,
Third, select the Graphics card you intend to use for mining. The calculator automatically enters the correct hashrate and power consumption. If your card isn’t listed or you’ve modified its performance, select the Custom option and enter the relevant figures manually. Note that GPU hashrates are entered in (Megahash per second aka MH/s; denoting millions of calculations per second).
Thanks! I just added auto-populating the difficulty and released it as v1.1.9 (download link is at bottom of page if you prefer installing on your own server). I did some googling and found etherscan.io has an API, so I was able to hook this in pretty quick / easy.
Troubleshooting tip:  Some miners have had success installing all GPU’s at once and then installing the drivers.  Others prefer to install only one card, install the drivers, shut down the system and then install the rest of the GPU’s and then just let them all be recognized by Windows (you’ll feel the system lagging, some flickers, or brief black screens while each card is detected by Windows).
As far as the 280X goes, if your only concern is ROI then you are likely correct, I could have made this cheaper by cutting a few corners. I could have used a milkcrate, I could have used cheaper hard drive (or network boot). Lots of things I could have done to cut some fat. But I am also trying to look past the ethereum horizon onto other uses as well. I think anyone building a rig right now will have to do the same unless they want to be left with a big paper weight.
Hi Charles, Sounds like a cool setup, hope you’re having fun with it and making some good money. I think your auto-correct is changing Claymore to Clayton. Anyway, as of Claymore v8.0, you can choose between mining Ethereum alone, Ethereum & Decred, Ethereum & Siacoin, Ethereum & Lbry. Based on something said by an old-time Bitcoiner in a video (I’m no expert on altcoins), I’d say Decred is the best choice. I haven’t heard anything about the other options and don’t know what they do exactly, except for some vague notions about “decentralized storage.” I’m not an expert on Ethereum… Read more »
Pool Mining – This is where you team up with other miners to reduce the volatility of your returns. This means whether you get 5 ethere every 5 days or 1 ether every day. The advantage of this is you get a continuous stream of ether and you don’t have to download the entire blockchain. Check out our guide on how to mine ethereum as part of a pool here.
If you’re reading a newbie’s guide to Ethereum mining and have a GPU powerful enough to make it worthwhile, we’re going to assume you’re running Windows so we’ll focus on mining Ethereum on that platform.
So assuming prices remain the same. You can invest in a bunch of cheap computers, break even and maybe make 10% in profit or something. That is great, but after that you are left with paper weights with pretty low resale value. The other thing you can do is build the boxes to be nice. You still break even (though perhaps not with the 10% profit) and now when you can’t mine Ethereum anymore you actually have a really nice computer you can sell for parts or run for whatever your personal use may be.

Before we get on to comparing the best available Ethereum Mining hardware and the best GPUs in the market, let us take a closer look at what GPUs are and what do you need to keep in mind before you buy a GPU to mine Ethereum with.
There are two types of mining hardware: CPUs and GPUs. GPUs boast a higher hash rate, meaning they can guess puzzle answers more quickly. At time of writing, GPUs are now the only option for ether miners.
If Ethereum was designed to be the “next level” internet then we should think about it that way. If someone created a website like Kickstarter back when the internet first came out and ended up taking people’s money.. Would it have made sense for everyone to stop using the internet..?
How many of those i need to buy to connect 7 GPU’s to the mother board: https://www.amazon.com/PCI-E-Express-Extender-Expansion-Adapter/dp/B01K6G9DZ0/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1474017682&sr=8-23&keywords=pci-e+risers
I just started about four weeks ago and was lucky enough to amass 20 cards in this short span in this market all for under $300, some used and new, except one at $305. Probably around $250 average for a mix of 480/570/580. But I work from home and am able to monitor eBay, monitor nowinstock, check the used listings on fb and cl while I work or on breaks. Lots of late nights too, got a bit obsessed for a period. No way I have the GPUs I do now if I didn’t, and I still have a tiny setup compared to many.
Men dens Intel Core i7-6700 CPU nemt gæster CyberPowerPC. Dens i7 er overkill for Ethereum minedrift. Men RX 480 leverer en høj hash sats.
The lighting is quite possibly this shader pack’s greatest virtue. The stale, bleak light offered in vanilla does not give a sense of atmosphere like they do in this shaders pack. In fact, most of the light sources in vanilla seems as though the be the same. Yellow light is quite easily the most common, seen from torches, glowstone, lava, fire, and the sun. With this shader pack, color is reintroduced and reborn with each and every light source. Torchlight looks absolutely different from moonlight, just as it should. To add to this, shadows are heavily implemented as well. Something even as small as grass on the ground can cast a vibrant and deep shadow, perfectly matching up to the sun’s location of course. Daylight is crisp and bright, striking a noticeable difference from the pale light of the moon or torches while in a cave. If all of the game’s lighting features seem the same, Sonic Ether’s shaders is a vibrant way to shake that up.
The time-tested wisdom in mining is that it’s probably best to not assume that ETH will stay at any given price in the short term. Theoretically, it could crash at any moment. If ETH had a sudden price crash, people would be dumping their GPUs all over eBay and Craigslist — meaning much lower resale value for your hardware. It’s also wise to consider that if the difficulty continues increasing and the price doesn’t see any major bumps in the coming weeks, revenues will only be thinned even more.
When Ethereum started off, the original vision was to have it mined via the CPU itself. The primary reason behind this (and making mining Ethereum ASIC-resistant) is that this will help provide fair competition. (While this is debatable it is still fairer than ASIC-led mining). However, while the original intention was to have Ether mined on CPU, miners soon discovered that the GPU led mining is faster because it provides a greater hashing power.
It also introduces a few interesting concepts, such as the idea of staking Ether on new transactions, losing one’s stake if they try to validate a fraudulent or otherwise incorrect transaction, eliminating potential threads such as a 51% attack, while introducing new threats specific to the new protocol.
Building a 6 GPU Ethereum mining rig is a fun project and a great source of passive income. This guide will help you find and assemble the best Ethereum mining hardware currently available to build your very own DIY Ethereum mining rig. Assembly time is about 3 hours and this mining rig is currently generating between $300-500/mo of digital currency depending on the current market price of the coin you are mining (Ethereum, Monero, Zcash, etc).
The beauty of this system is once we get it built, we can modify it to mine whichever coins are the most profitable instead of relying on a third party to continue paying us out in whatever we started with at a fixed hashing power. Thank you for reading this and I hope you have a wonderful day! If this post was helpful, would you please vote it up because that helps me to continue writing more for you?
It could still be profitable. Hashflare raised their prices recently but Hashzone, based out of Amsterdam Netherlands, has cheaper mining contracts compared to Hashflare and for a limited time they’re giving away 20 GH/s free with new sign-ups. Also, they have a great support team. Been happy with them.

  1. Mining runs the transaction and ledger network these coins run on. Thus miners are being paid to help run a financial network with their spare processing power. Anyone watch the show “Silicon Valley”? This is the future of computing – Mass Decentralized networks.
