Bitcoin is completely controlled by three mining pools.Bitcoin is no longer decentralized. Skycoin’s consensus algorithm is designed from the ground up to achieve Satoshi’s vision of a truly decentralized cryptocurrency.
The most expensive component of the whole team is the GPU’s. Mining has created a strong demand for these and today they are a bit scarce. If we can achieve them without problems, assembling a three or four GPU’s RIG mining equipment would require an investment of approximately € 1500 / € 2,500.

Hey there! Could you maybe try to get this to work on macOS as well? When I start it then it gives me a bunch of “invalid program:” and then several different things. (composite, gbuffers, final and others)
I ask since the core of my own work is sharing information among autonomous agents and I suspect our pursuits might end up being extremely complementary in addition to your mixture of interests being very interesting in its own right.
If you just want a very secure wallet and not necessarily hardware, consider https://www.ether.li/ – they have an excellent (dare I say perfect?) model with 2-out-of-3 multisig trustless keystore, where they provide one of the signatures with 2fa.
I moved all my miners over 6 months ago. best decision I did. now i have accumulated a nice stash of ETC for future holding. Etc will have a big future. people are slow to catch on. But the smart ones already have.

Mining ethereum isn’t profitable anymore. Since there is an exponential increase in mining difficulty, Ether mined in a month gonna decrease exponentially too. I’m currently making around 0.75 Ether a month but that’s not constant. I’ve done the whole analysis here taking my case as an example.
We recently explored the idea of building a mining rig at no cost, simply using older parts we had lying on the shelf. My colleague, Eric Vander Linden, cobbled together a competent mining rig with zero upfront costs. The “free miner” includes two R9 290X GPUs, which net roughly 57 MH/s. At the current difficulty rate, that rig should bring in a little more than half an Ether per month, which would be profitable as long as the price of Ethereum doesn’t dip below $100.
I made this same question in Bitcointalk and a veteran told me “we will talk about another more profitable coin in 1-2 years, guaranteed…”, so we don’t need to worry about it stopping being profitable soon… I asked him/her how s/he can be so confident, and the reply was that it’s because it happened 3 times before. I said that it doesn’t mean it will be the same thing from now on just because of that. He didn’t reply me anymore…
It looks even better when you chuck on some of those higher resolution texture packs. 64x64s and 128x128s packs don’t look out of place anymore but look right at home with these shaders on. Big call but I think we may have hit a new age in minecraft. One where minecraft can actually be described as a good looking game. :tongue.gif: Oh and I see what you mean when you mentioned shadows in the sky. Very unsettling having those dark shapes looming over you. haha
If you’re not already handy with computers, Linux/Windows scripting and command line, hardware troubleshooting, know how ethereum works, and can wait 2+ months to get the possibility of breaking even on your hardware purchase, you’ll get more for your money and time by focusing on learning how cryptocurrencies and trading work and perhaps invest some money (but only as much as you are willing to lose) and start trading it.
The actual brand of the card is not the most important part (although some are better than others, like the usually-higher-quality Sapphire and MSI), rather you want to make sure you get the right AMD chip. A variety of manufacturers make cards using AMD RX 470, 480, 570, and 580, and just about any of them will work fine. Also, it’s likely a good idea to get an 8GB RAM card. A mix of these cards will work just fine — it might just take a bit of time to get the drivers working properly.
Mining is a computationally intensive work that requires a lot of processing power and time. Mining is the act of participating in a given peer distributed cryptocurrency network in consensus. The miner is subsequently rewarded for providing solutions to challenging math problems. It is done by putting the computer’s hardware to use with mining applications.
No, Eth is very simple to mine… you just need a GPU(in a computer, obviously), a Miner Software, an Address and a Pool… (the only thing that may vary are the configs for the GPU, and the configs for the Miner)
At the time of writing, many of the most popular mining GPUs are out-of-stock worldwide. I found SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 570 4G GPUs in stock from a Canadian vendor for $300 each (or $222 in USD). According to this article: Are the RX570 and RX580 Profitable? – Mining Performance Review – 1st Mining Rig, you can get a hash rate of roughly 30 MH/s from each GPU with 125W of power usage.
This might be a slight necro (apologies in advance) but I would love to hear why you’re hodling ETC as opposed to ETH. Given that there is fundamentally no difference between them apart from some users not being able to retrieve their stolen ETH, your position and the supposed upside you mention is perplexing.

Is there a way to synchronize the animations with Minema? Everything is working fine except that, when I start the recording, the shaderpack’s animations seem to compensate for the low realtime framerate created by Minema, so all of the animations appear extremely fast in the final video. Is there anyway to fix this?
Unlike the best mining desktop PCs, which can be used for other day-to-day tasks as normal PCs, mining rigs are specially-designed for one purpose only: to efficiently and effectively mine cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.
Wow. You represent about 1/3 of the current network hash power at the moment then? (I know most people probably aren’t actively mining, but still you would have been up there even at peak). Where, roughly, are you based?
@itsmein3d with friends invested on Genesis Mining as well, it seems to have great terms which are ideal for making an investment easily in a small amount of time. The limitations are the long time it takes to get a return compared to making our own mining rigs plus not really owning anything. For the greatest profits, making our own mining rigs seems to be a better investment not just of the money but for the valuable learning it takes to build on our own machines which then translates to skills good for earning high dollars per hour! In summary, if we have money and just want a good return, Genesis might be the best option. If we have a bit more time and willingness to learn plus want the highest profits and have low enough electricity costs, DIY mining might be ideal!
At first i would probably buy 1 GPU then later add more, up to 6, even though i am planning to set up more then 1 rig, probably in another apartment of my friend if my apartment would not let me run more then 1 (6 GPU’s) rig…
You can determine the rating for efficiency by dividing the hashrate by the power consumption. Newer cards are usually more efficient. This rating is of prime importance—given that electricity is a fixed, ongoing cost. In other words, the more efficient your card, the more profitable it will be once you’ve received the ROI.

  1. If you would plan to run this for a longer time, you should try to lower the clock speed on the GPU core to lower power consumption and increase the memory clock speed to increase hash rate. Since Ethereum is not very dependent on the core clock and basically only the memory clock it would make performance better while also increase the profit margin
In principle we need a monitor to be able to use and visualize the operating system and the mining software. Also a standard hard disk of about 120GB of storage and a DDR3 or DDR4 RAM with a minimum of 4GB.
However, being a tech enthusiast and a believer in disruptions, I truly believe there’s a bright future for cryptocurrencies. If I’m right, the current rise in Bitcoin and Ethereum is just the start. And one coin might be worth 100x its price today, which might justify mining it today.

You won’t need a warehouse if you are only going to spend 20K on hardware. Assuming a 6 GPU rig would run you around 2.5K or more that would be a total of 8 rigs. Wherever you house your rigs you need to make sure you have proper cooling and enough power too. My 6 GPU rigs pull about 10 amps each (thats at 120V). You should look up the hash rates of the GPU’s you are looking at and then use a mining calculator to estimate what you could make. Of course all of that is dependent on current price of ETH and current level of difficulty. Both can change dramatically.
