AMD cards are likely the best choice for the budget-conscious. However, the top-end Nvidia cards outperform them in terms of power efficiency. Carefully weigh your options, and keep in mind your budget and power costs.
When Nicholas Abouzeid, a senior at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, began mining from home in high school, he ran the software off his Macbook Pro and kept his bedroom window open to regulate his laptop’s temperature. “It would get to 35 degrees in my room, and I was shivering in bed, but my computer was very happy,” he says. A few months before leaving for college, when he built his own computer to mine crypto more efficiently, he surrounded it with fans to disperse the heat.
Hello @DHG9691 , i know! I have a lot of people asking me how i got mine to work…. and prolly 90% of Z170 borads DO NOT support more then 4 GPUs on a Hardware level… (This may be fixed on next iterations of the BIOS and/or Firmwares) But by now
The US dollar is backed by all of the nation’s assets. And that includes its gold reserves. The US no longer fixes the value of the dollar to gold, which means it does not have to add gold to its reserves whenever it prints money.
The motherboard is the one that will be responsible for connecting the entire system. In this case the ideal is to have one with enough slots to connect as many GPUs as we want or are needed. A plate with six PCI Express slots would allow us to insert six GPS like those mentioned above that would allow us to build a team with at least 180MH / S.
Pro-tips: check out the following GPU’s: AMD Rx 470/480 Rx 570/580, AMD R9 range, HD 7990 / 7950 (if used cards are available, try to get them from a gamer instead of a miner, with a warranty if possible).  For Nvidia, look at the 1060 / 1070 / 1080 series cards.  As with everything, do your own due diligence to evaluate GPU’s based on their hashrate, power requirements, availability and price.
Yes yes and yes. I’m 100% with you here. The issue is if the difficulty currently keeps increasing as it has, there will be no 6 or 8 month ROI it will never come. Unless it really really flattens out it will be infinity ROI for any miner getting in now unless they’re getting their GPU’s for $120/card or so. And yeah we’ve discussed this before and it ultimately comes down to the fact that no one knows the future so it’s all about what you think will happen.
Well, i would prefer this mother board since it has capacity of MAX 64GB of RAM and it does not cost much more then other(s) once.. And i saw a picture of it, it seems to me it has only 3 GPU slots, can you explain…
Bad job Tom’s. Just add fuel to the GFX card debacle. Irresponsible and just wrong. First the user must go out and OVERSPEND on a GFX card and then follow this article and start mining and increase the shortages even further. Hm, good job Tom, good job.

Today, we will go over the Top 4 Ethereum mining hardware. You will learn what GPU Ethereum Miner is and how to find the best GPU and rig. Moreover, we will look into actual hardware that can be used for mining Ethereum. Ready?
All I see when I turn shaders on is pitch black, with 7 diff images of screen, each one getting smaller and smaller, and blurier, and blurier, and no, Im not holusinating, but i can see all guis just fine(pause menu, inventory, f3, and the little plus sign in middle of screen) plz help this is best shaders version out there
Hashes per watt is absolutely not the metric you want to judge a card’s merit on. Case and point: you pick an RX 560 and the ilk as the ultimate card, even at a pittance of hashes per card. Usually, the increased coins earned from the extra hashpower outstrips the extra power usage significantly (up until you hit that steep portion of the performance exponential curve). If you’re scaling anywhere past a few cards or a single rig, 75W vs 100W on a card isn’t your primary concern.
The kind of monitor that you use depends on the video out on the motherboard. For the AM1 platform, I believe the standard video outs include HDMI, VGA, and DVI. For this kind of build, though, you will likely want to buy a second-hand or reduce price monitor. This is something you will probably end up running headless (without a monitor) so you could probably just use whatever you have on hand.
Another idea is to use my own laptop (toshiba R700), at night, using the same USB extenders but maybe the laptop power is not ready to supply the GPU. What is your opinion on this? In the case that it would be advisable to use laptop, would this interfere with my normal working or would it be advisable to let it work only when I am not using the laptop?

Som CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra, denne Acer Aspire T AT3-715A-UR11 har en velnæret AMD RX 480 GPU. Men dens Intel Core i7-6700 CPU nemt gæster CyberPowerPC. Dens i7 er overkill for Ethereum minedrift. Men RX 480 leverer en høj hash sats.
That is a shame about the barrel jack adapter. Because there are a lot of different sizes and shapes for barrel jack DC plugs. In general, all the picoPSUs that I’ve seen use the same connection standard which is 5.5mm outer diameter and a 2.5mm inner diameter IIRC. They do differ in their efficiencies, but in general, there are so many no-brand suppliers out there, it’s better to just pick a reputable importer and buy from them. My go-tos are QuietPC and MiniBox. But there are many other importers out there.

You keep talking about higher electricity costs. My electricity costs are 0$. I’ve been running server farms out of my house for over a decade, enough to heat my entire home. I have not had to run my heat once in that decade and my electric cost in winter is EXACTLY the same as it was before I started running a server farm.
Yes you can use the same hardware even though . Ethereum uses memory hard hashing algorithm called Ethash that mitigates against the use of ASICS and encourages decentralised mining by individuals using their GPU’s. The difference is more in the algorithm as you must be aware etherum used Etash while Bitcoin uses the SHA 256.

If i were to build another rig, I would have to be convinced that I would make my investment back in 2.5 months or less, and while I’m considering it, I’m not exactly convinced that it would net me more ethereum in the long run than just investing the same amount of money into ethereum today.
I ask since the core of my own work is sharing information among autonomous agents and I suspect our pursuits might end up being extremely complementary in addition to your mixture of interests being very interesting in its own right.
In total, I have 17 graphics cards that could work for mining—11 cards with AMD GPUs, and six cards with Nvidia GPUs. Unless you’re a hardware hoarder who never sells older parts, you probably won’t have such an advantage. A build like this wouldn’t be free for most people, but we’d wager a few of you have some semblance of hardware sitting around anyway.
I have QTY 3 of MSI GTX 1080 TI, If i replace the graphic cards that you mentioned with 3 GTX 1080 TI and but the rest of the parts you mentioned, would the miner work fine? I am thinking to expand it to 5 graphic cards.
First and foremost, I am not an expert in digital currency by any means. I am not a financial adviser nor am I suggesting in anyway that you should or should not delve into the digital currency craze. I am simply demonstrating how you can use your Mac hardware to mine Ethereum.
In a word, your mining rig needs to solve a mathematical algorithm to mine Ethereum. The mining difficulty of the network is a measurement of how difficult this algorithm is to solve. The higher the difficulty, the less Ethereum you receive for each unit of energy the GPU on your mining rig expends. As more miners join the network – the difficulty increases.
Some of these best Bitcoin mining hardware uses a lot of energy, but it is not only that. They also tend to generate too much heat. As a miner, you will need to spend additional money on looking for air conditioners and other machinery that would be used to cool down your best mining rig.
Jerry I love all your videos! I watch them all, I think you have great energy in every post you make me so excited and I continue to share your videos with my family and friends trying to convert them over to steemit.
