I think it’s profitable only if ETH price climbs with ETH difficulty but with that being said, it would be better to just buy ETH if ETH climbs 30-50%. The people who are making the real profit are the people who are supplying the parts :)!
Some settings should be modified in Windows to get you ready for mining.  First, you don’t want your computer to go to Sleep as it will interrupt your mining so go into your Power Settings and set it to “Never” turn off/sleep.
The rest of this guide focuses on the hardware side. For further help setting up an Ethereum wallet, join a pool, and use your miner. These steps are detailed in our beginner’s guide to mining Ethereum.
The answer is absolutely! Ethereum was created to be the next level of the internet and the future platform for all decentralized apps, but then the DAO hack happend.. Which led to a lot of debate, and finally was decided to hard fork and change the code.
As far as I have read, there is no guide that gives you a neat table of GPU models, price, expected hash rate and wattage. People’s reports on the internet will vary depending on what software they use to hash and if they measured using a benchmark that flatters their card or real world hashing.
What do you mean by “it WILL switch to PoS over PoW” ??? When do you think mining for ethereum will stop ??? Can I mine for litecoin or dodge coin with the same system i am about to build ? Or perhaps mine for other things, which ones???

Note that buying used cards from crypto miners is not recommended, due to the wear and tear mining places on cards. If you resell your card after it’s no longer useful for mining, you should mention that it was used for mining, then price it accordingly.
I would also recommend you buy an SSD as it is a just little bit expensive than HDD. So, you don’t have to buy any 240 GB SSD or; higher 120GB is enough. The only things that will be going on the SSD will be OS, Drivers & mining software.
The actual brand of the card is not the most important part (although some are better than others, like the usually-higher-quality Sapphire and MSI), rather you want to make sure you get the right AMD chip. A variety of manufacturers make cards using AMD RX 470, 480, 570, and 580, and just about any of them will work fine. Also, it’s likely a good idea to get an 8GB RAM card. A mix of these cards will work just fine — it might just take a bit of time to get the drivers working properly.
Then again that is not always the top concern. One consideration is if you run a miner in a cold climate, then heat effiency can become the dominating factor. The reason being there is 0 cost to run a miner in a cold climate as it simply replaces the energy you put into a heater and it is as effective as a heater at heating your house. So as long as the amount of heat you produce is not in excess of what you need to keep your house heated, then there are 0$ electrical costs to run it. Once you pass this point then your profit margin diminishes as you will produce more heat than what is needed to heat the house (in other words you will open a window to help cool the house a little). Therefore Hash rate to heat output (equivalent to hash rate to energy consumed) would be more important than the initial price for the hardware.
Crypto mining has become a divisive issue. Miners gobble up popular graphics cards by the armful, depleting inventory and driving up prices. Gamers are left to pay exorbitant prices, sometimes as much as double, even for mainstream GPUs. A little animosity between the two camps is therefore understandable.
Since it is now evidently impossible to use your computer as one of the best Bitcoin mining hardware, a specialized hardware known as ASIC miner can assist. The ASICs, an abbreviation for the Application Specific Integrated Circuits, are what surpassed the graphics cards. ASICs are the best Bitcoin mining hardware that any serious Bitcoin miner should look for. This is a special chip that is mainly designed for the purposes of mining Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoins, and because of that, it can provide up to a hundred times better hashing power as well as reduced consumption rates of energy.
Ethereum is more flexible than Bitcoin due to the presence of its own Turing complete internal code, which means that with sufficient time and computing power, it can calculate anything. There is no such flexibility in Bitcoin.
The methods of costing transactions are different in the two. In Ether, it depends on the complexity of computation, the storage needs as well as the bandwidth usage. However, in Bitcoin, there are no such factors affecting the costing as all transactions compete with each other equally. This is what is known as Gas (in Ethereum), limited to each block while for Bitcoin, the limiter is the block size.
From everything I’ve read thus far, the best GPUs for mining are GPUs that have high compute capabilities with low power consumption. AMD desktop GPUs such as the RX 480 and the RX 580 are competitively sought after for these specific qualities. In fact, the GPU market is currently undergoing a bubble of inflated prices due to the current mining revolution.
Finally, I’d consider re-running any set of final numbers through an Eth price of $100 and $200, just to get an idea of how much profitability will drop on market pull-backs. I’d assume needing to weather one at some point.
I you read this wrong. I didn’t write this saying “These are the exact steps and parts list you need.” It’s simply saying, “Here’s a basic idea you can possibly adapt to your own circumstances.” No, not everyone has a 290X in storage. But a lot of people do. My current “leftover” GPU is an R9 280. That’s plenty strong for some hobbyist mining.
However it must also be kept in mind that most professional miners would never mine with a single GPU. They create ‘rigs’ with multiple GPUs running together. Most commonly used rigs are 6-GPU Ethereum Mining Rigs and 8-GPU Ethereum Mining Rigs. On many occasions multiple such rigs are used together. We will discuss rigs in depth in a later chapter.
Good article but only half written. It does a great job explaining the key inputs into the analysis of profitability but it did not actually follow through with any such analysis! It just says at the end “yes it’s profitable but switch to monero after PoS” with no basis to justify the claims of profitability.
But in principle, it only applies to the amount of ether, not its price. If the price falls by half, then the payback of the farm will be twice as long and this formula applies to everyone. The safest method here is extracting the air and transferring it to bitcoins.
When I joined The Bitcoin Code 2 months ago, never could have I ever imagined the series of events that would unfold just days after locking in my free software. I was able to clear my $131,382 debt. There is no greater feeling than to be debt-free. Now, I???m in the process of buying my dream home. I still can???t believe this is all really happening???I???m forever grateful to Steve.
Set your rig to turn on when power is connected, AND set your miner to run on startup. Just google run on startup. It’s a must and you’ll love it when your power goes out and you’re not home. When your power comes back on, your rig will turn on and start mining again.
i have a bug with the chats when i join a server or load a world some white thick and thin stripes suddenly appears i cant seem to read any chat messages or signs also it only happen when i join or load a world/server but everything works great anyone has a fix for it? also i reload the resource pack so many times it still dont work
Mark figures the university owes him, anyway. “The only thing that I’m concerned about is if somebody at MIT comes after me for unnecessarily using their electricity, which I think is kind of silly considering how much it costs 2 to go here,” he says. James Spann, a sophomore at the Rochester Institute of Technology who also mines crypto, echoed Mark’s reasoning: “The electricity and internet are part of the tuition.”
Install your GPU Drivers like you normally would (Next, next, Ok, etc.) and reboot.  Afterward, you know your GPU’s are recognized correctly if you go into Device Manager (search in Windows search bar) and you don’t see any warning marks on your GPU’s and it shows them correctly like this:
“I found CoinMiner and asked for some consultancy services to help me build my mining farm. They advice they provided was invaluable and has meant that my mining operation has got off to a solid start. I now contract CoinMiner for maintenance of my rigs.”
Unfortunately it’s hard to troubleshoot without any error message. Do you ever get problems running graphically intensive applications like games? You could also try downloading a stress testing app for your GPU and seeing how it performs:
A: Denne vejledning dækker ved hjælp af Windows 10 (sørg for at det er 64 bit). Der er også forskellige distributioner af Linux, der kan bruges (ikke dækket her). Men Windows er den nemmeste at konfigurere og komme op at køre hurtigt. Der er ingen Mac-versionen på dette tidspunkt.
As more miners join the Ethereum network, the harder it becomes to solve the problem, which leads to an increase in the mining difficulty. This is why it’s currently costly to mine Ethereum. The returns are very low and equipment is still pretty expensive. However, as Ethereum price continues to rise, it could become worthwhile in the future.
Step 1 — Get your rig case set up. I ordered a wooden “case” from eBay for my rig, so it required a bit of work to put together. This step will depend on where you get your case (or if you decide to build it yourself), so simply follow the instructions from the manufacturer. My wooden “case” just required me to have a philip’s head screwdriver, and to screw in a couple screws. Then I was ready to mount the motherboard.

  1. Putting it simply, your mining rig needs to solve a mathematical algorithm to mine Ethereum. The mining difficulty of the network is a measurement of how difficult this algorithm is to solve. The higher the difficulty, the less Ethereum you receive for each unit of energy the GPU on your mining rig expends. As more miners join the network, this difficulty increases.
