That means if you count your miner as a “heater” you are spending exactly the same amount to heat your home as you would if you didnt have the miner. What you are missing is the fact that a computer is just as efficient as an electric space heater as a space heater is. So even if you pay for your own electricity a mining rig is FREE to run in winter.
The beauty of this system is once we get it built, we can modify it to mine whichever coins are the most profitable instead of relying on a third party to continue paying us out in whatever we started with at a fixed hashing power. You won’t need a warehouse if you are only going to spend 20K on hardware. Assuming a 6 GPU rig would run you around 2.5K or more that would be a total of 8 rigs. Wherever you house your rigs you need to make sure you have proper cooling enough power too. My 6 GPU rigs pull about 10 amps each (thats at 120V). You should look up the hash rates of the GPU’s you are looking at and then use a mining calculator to estimate what you could make. Of course all of that is dependent on current price of ETH and current level of difficulty. Both can change dramatically.
Think of it from a business standpoint. How many times can you invest in a business and expect a return on your investment in even a year? Two years? Currently even at overinflated GPU prices you might see a return in ~6 months. In the mining community that seems like an insane amount of time. Crypto is an anomaly though. In business that’s a super win. Even if the timeline goes out to 8 months and then you start profiting it’s still considered a good investment. As good as just investing in ETH? Likely not. But we’ve discussed risk aversion and mining before.
You keep talking about higher electricity costs. My electricity costs are 0$. I’ve been running server farms out of my house for over a decade, enough to heat my entire home. I have not had to run my heat once in that decade and my electric cost in winter is EXACTLY the same as it was before I started running a server farm.

In a word, your mining rig needs to solve a mathematical algorithm to mine Ethereum. The mining difficulty of the network is a measurement of how difficult this algorithm is to solve. The higher the difficulty, the less Ethereum you receive for each unit of energy the GPU on your mining rig expends. As more miners join the network — the difficulty increases.
A Radeon R9 HD 7990 will cost you $680. Its power cost per day is lower than the R9 295X2 at $1.08 but its hash rate is significantly lower at 36 MH/s. Its return per day is $1.29 while its cost per MH/s is $18.89, giving it a return per year of $469.40.
You could do two things, you could renegotiate your electricity contract and get a higher Power, or you could fit exactly the amount that is safe… but i can’t help you mesure that…( tho you have to address the problem that PoW wont be around forever for ETH!!! so do your research)
Again, as the post stated, the goal was not purely ROI. It was to build a computer that is generally useful as a GPU cluster for R&D while still being able to pay for itself. Effectively a free (or near free) cluster.
I think is better to install Linux onto this 60GB SSD and then install Ethminer software rather than installing Windows since space is so limited for that SSD ( Windows 7 or 10 may take almost all of the space).. and this also will give me an option to install another mining software for another crypto-currency later on, rather then installing EthOS…just for Ethereum…What do you think about it?

But recently, Ethereum has boomed to be priced at around $700-$800, which has led to a resurgence in mining interest.

For example, the RX 580’s hashrate has fallen from 23 MH/s (140 epochs) down to 18.5 MH/s (162 epochs). While the RX range is still great for mining other GPU coins, it’s quickly becoming obsolete for Ethereum mining.
OK so this sounds like a problem with your graphics card driver. Are you using the latest driver for your card? If you’re using a standard Windows driver, this could be the cause of your problem. So I suggest you check out the relevant Nvidia or AMD website and get the latest GPU drivers for your machine.

The software itself can run on two separate GPUs, so that's definitely not an issue. The issue is that dual GPU motherboards can cost quite a bit of money compared to single slot boards. If it wasn't profitable I can assure you graphics cards wouldn't be selling out everywhere. It is indeed profitable. If you have a competitive advantage. Think someone is always making a profit, that doesn't mean everyone is. You want cheap electricity. You can manage with mid rate electricity prices to make a profit too but it's more of a gamble the higher those costs are. 1x Power Supply –  1000 Watt PSU – The key here is to have an efficient power supply that will save you over the long run in electricity costs.   1. According to an article in IBTimes, personal mining setups can be built with regular computers and laptops and for the purposes of mining Ethereum. Machines require graphics cards with at least 2 GB of RAM, and in fact the sudden increase in mining outfits is driving up the demand for higher powered graphics cards.
    I started this project with consideration for the heat that the rig would generate. Earning a little bit of extra money doesn’t make sense if I have to live in misery in a hot sauna. I placed the miner in my basement, which is typically cool.
    Could you clarify how the gpus and cpu are wired up to the power supplies? I have practically no experience with hardware like this, and it’s not entirely clear from your photos how to set up the wiring.
