As far as ETC vs. ETH yesterday it should have been a no-brainer. Do you want to buy ETC on the bubble and hope it keeps going up and dumps don’t happen? Or would you rather buy ETH when people are panicking like crazy dumping all their ETH at illogical levels based purely on their emotions, where you’re perhaps getting ETH (a well backed, well developed and proven crypto which has hit $20 in it’s pre-Dao crash glory) at a significant discount?
This is the main difference that exists between GPU and FPGA, both as the best Bitcoin mining rigs: A 600 MH/s hash rate GPU uses about 400-watts of power, while an 826 MH/s hash rate FPGAs consumes just 80-watts of power.
Personally, I believe in diversification within the Ethereum realm: mining, buy-and-hold, momentum trading, mean-reversion trading and price arbitrage between exchanges. I believe in the incredible potential of a technology like Ethereum, but there are so many factors that could crush its market cap.
I can see some people put money and never reinvest in more hashpower .. and they expect to have a return in investment .. really dude ? you know that BTC difficulty raises almost every week … so if you stay at your same hashpower .. you will start losing money … the best way is to reinvest everyday for 6 months ( hashpower ) … and then start withdrawing your money after 6 months .. and you will thank me for it anyway .. i have just invested $2700 for 18 TH/s ( Bitcoin ) will add more details… Read more »
If using Standard GPU system with around 50-57 MH/s hash rate, then it could take a few months (around 6 months) to mine a single ether, however, using standard CPU it’s not even possible to mine one ether. Mining calculators can be used to do the reverse calculation as to how much ether is to be mined and accordingly how many GPU’s are required.
Does the mining process use much data bandwidth over an internet connection? If so, this would have to be added to the calculations in regions such as the outskirts of the Metro Detroit area where cable providers have no competition and have begun to implement data caps on cable internet.
Motherboard: You’ll need a motherboard that has enough PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 slots to support the ammout of graphics cards you plan on using in your rig. The Asrock H81 Pro BTC and Asrock H97 Anniversary, are both good boards to use, they are relatively cheap and they can support 6 graphics cards with 1 PCIe x16 slot and 5 PCIe x1 slot. And you will need to buy a power button, obviously to turn on your rig.
The card also excels at mining, reaching 70 MH/s with stock settings. But it increases up to 82 MH/s when it’s pushed to its limits. In the raw hash power stakes, this card puts Nvidia far ahead in the raw hash-power stakes, and beats out AMD’s closest rival, the Radeon RX Vega 64. It only reaches about 45 MH/s and consumes more power.
New GPU each month? maybe… but it NOT the GPU, but the architecture it self you have to be worried about… Because there’s no point in switching GPUs every month for 2-5% more performance and same power draw… New Architectures come usually once an Year… or every 2 Years or so… and Bring like 20-30% performance increase and less 10-30% power draw…… if it is the same architecture, you are better of adding more cards!

i’m having this problem too?? i load the game, and seems fine, but before it even gets to the title screen it crashes. i believe its because of GLSL mod, but i cant figure out how to change it. can anyone help us please?
It’s been a while since we updated this series this past summer, but our answer for the “Is it worth it?” question has remained mostly the same. Ethereum saw increasing difficulty throughout the fall and little increase in price, which made mining steadily less and less attractive. But recently, Ethereum has boomed to be priced at around $700-$800, which has led to a resurgence in mining interest.
How do we start mining ETH or ETC with our own equipment at home today? Will you read this post because it shows how easy it is to get started mining with a small investment in equipment and the willingness to learn how to set everything up and explains what steps are needed to decide if investing in the time and equipment for mining?
A graphics card or graphic processing unit is a component manufactured to improve the visual quality of a computer. In the mining process, all the weight of the processing falls on them, so that the more and more powerful the GPU’s of our RIG, the greater the hasrate of it. Currently there are different types of GPUs. For Ether mining we should look at the consumption-power ratio of processing-price at the time of choosing.
What kind of GPUs would you use? Do you have any examples? I’ve heard of external GPUs for workstation docks. In theory, it should work, since cryptomining generally runs off the GPU and doesn’t use the CPU very much.
Third, select the Graphics card you intend to use for mining. The calculator automatically enters the correct hashrate and power consumption. If your card isn’t listed or you’ve modified its performance, select the Custom option and enter the relevant figures manually. Note that GPU hashrates are entered in (Megahash per second aka MH/s; denoting millions of calculations per second).

  1. This software connects your computer to the network and enables it to interact with the bitcoin clients, forwarding transactions and keeping track of the block chain. It will take some time for it to download the entire bitcoin block chain so that it can begin. The bitcoin client effectively relays information between your miner and the bitcoin network.
All I see when I turn shaders on is pitch black, with 7 diff images of screen, each one getting smaller and smaller, and blurier, and blurier, and no, Im not holusinating, but i can see all guis just fine(pause menu, inventory, f3, and the little plus sign in middle of screen) plz help this is best shaders version out there
I do love solar since it helps to nullify the electricity costs if planned around. My previous job i designed solar systems for homes and businesses thus know how to calculate how much solar is needed to cover any electric usage (i designed my own system on my house).
