How do i under-volt GPU’s with software ? Will it effect on GPU’s performances if they are under-volt meaning less profitable? How did you initially optimized it exactly and got half of the noise? How to switch fans to AUTO ? And switched to a specified degree, WITH THE SOFTWARE you installed ? Really no noise, like a laptop, less noise meaning less profit or it does not matter? And these GPU’s : AMD RX 480 or AMD RX 470 , are the latest? I am sure each month should be coming out more powerful GPU’s, does it need more RAM ? And water-cooled GPU’s why they are not worth to use, are they quite as laptop, are they twice more expensive?
Unfortunately, the POW period (ie. the period where you can mine ethers with graphics cards) will end this year, when ethereum will switch over to POS. So we’re talking about a timeframe of probably only a few months left ?

The dollar is still backed by the tremendous amount of reserves held by the US government, which is why it’s among the most stable currencies in the world.
Depends on how you define worst. This is meant to be an ethereum rig, which means it gets about a year of mining before it wont serve that purpose anymore. Therefore, as the post stated it was build for a dual purpose 1) to suite my needs for work 2) To pay for itself so I basically get free hardware out of it that is top the line for high throughput parallel process. Based on those criteria it is in fact the best choice, though I understand it might be a very poor choice if you goal is to be a long term cryptominer beyond ethereum and in to the future. Could someone help me out here. I’ve got a R280X that should run around 290 h/s on equihash. I runs great guns on Cryptonite 485 h/s but when I start Claymore Zen64 miner it starts out at 275 h/s and then starts to throttle back to 150 h/s. It drops my clock speed in half and I have no control over setting thru MSI afterburner. It mines along but at half the speed 500mhz.

The time-tested wisdom in mining is that it’s probably best to not assume that ETH will stay at any given price in the short term. Theoretically, it could crash at any moment. If ETH had a sudden price crash, people would be dumping their GPUs all over eBay and Craigslist — meaning much lower resale value for your hardware. It’s also wise to consider that if the difficulty continues increasing and the price doesn’t see any major bumps in the coming weeks, revenues will only be thinned even more.
^ This. I suppose there is SOME validity in mining ETC and hodling in case a significant increase in value occurs, but I see no evidence to convince me that this would actually happen. It’s a dead crypto as far as I’m concerned, some people just don’t know it yet.

Mining Ether takes up a lot of electricity, and you are right in being concerned about this. On the plus side, though, if mining practices are carried out efficiently more income is generated through the sale of Ether. You will need your Ethereum Mining calculators for the process.

As mentioned make sure your power supply unit can handle the Graphics cards and that you have risers capable of placing extra GPU’s in a safe location. Make sure all the connections are in nicely and everything is held together firmly.

Right now it is quite profitable, but it is better to see the historical comparison between prices and the difficulty. Also take in mind that the cards doesn’t last forever – not that they will brake down but eventually new cards with better hashrate per watt are appearing. So, I would say that we are looking at about taking back the price of hardware in the first year and then start taking profit which will gradually slow down. So if you invest X money in 2-3 years you will make back double the initial investment.

I wouldn’t burden a laptop with the kind of thermal overhead that mining causes. It’s just way too much wear and tear for a mobile device with a very low thermal envelope. But an external GPU using a USB interface? I’ve not heard of this and know nothing about it.
What would I do different now? First off, I would make the feet of the rig stand out at the bottom, so it is stackable. Probably it is also a better idea to have the PSUs on the outside of the rig. For mounting the cards, I have better used M3 screws, and the cards should no hang as high as they do now, because I had trouble with the first PCI-e riser on the very left being to short. Also, the conventional HDD is producing a lot of heat, SSDs are so cheap that I would definately go with one of these.
I have a big problem! I have 2 x 7950 GPUs and ASRock H61 PRO BTC mobo. When I connect GPUs via risers i don’t have screen, monitor display “No signal”. I used HDMI cable and DVI – no results. When I connect HDMI to mobo and unplugd GPUs from mobo it works perfectly.

Now you’re talking about difficulty increase of 100%, which with this rate is easily going to happen before summer, might even be by march. Hopefully price will increase as well, but at some point we’ll be seeing a saturated market (especially once ETH goes PoS), so your prediction here is that 12-18months payback period. While i’d not speculate more than 6-8 months in the future. Because we can’t possibly know what will happen once PoS happens.

I can’t find anything about mining on this card either, but some comments from forums leads me to believe it could be about double the speed of 7950 cards. giving you somewhere between 35-40Mh/s, but this could be wrong depending on the bandwitdth usage on the card. Could be much less. Best tip is to just try it. Would be nice to hear the result!
