The problem I have seen with the Z170 board (MSI -A Pro) I have is that you have to set pci latency timer manually. I managed to get 5 cards running reliably after playing with that setting (best suggestion is to use >16*number of GPU). Default was 32, and the board struggled with more then 3 cards.
Shark Mining is a well-regarded company that makes some excellent pre-built mining rigs. Its Shark Mini is a compact rig that comes with four GPUs. The base model comes with GTX 1070 GPUs, but your can configure it to have a 1070 Ti GPU, which could net you an extra 10% profit, and you can also add a touchscreen display for keeping an eye on the rig. Shark Mining estimates a profit of $600 a month if you mine ZCash or Bitcoin, and up to $400 a month with Ethereum, though of course that could change.
2) The miner is not an efficient way to heat your home. It pales in comparison to a real space heater. Maybe you have a small portion of one room slightly warm with your rig. It also runs when you’re not home which is a waste. Space heaters are turned off when people leave the house.
I really hate how Aether decided they will be a closed mod. I will never play it no matter how good it become. For me the point is to have a customizable game that I decide what content and rules I want, not someone else decide it for me.

There are certain elements you’ve got to make sure are right if you want to mine 1 Ether per day. It is a bit difficult but definitely possible to do. The very crucial thing which is the basis priority to mine 1 Ether per day is to have high level graphics card, If you have multiple of them, it will be much easier to mine.
When a currency (Ethereum) is resistant to ASIC mining, the average person can afford to buy a GPU if they don’t already have one. This allows everyone to verify the network instead of a select few with lots of power.
So I am working through some issues. First I have two drives. C: which is a fairly small SSD drive just for my OS (the blockchain is too big to fit on here) and an E: drive which stores everything else. I finally figured out how to store the blockchain on E: with my coinbase and if I am solo mining it works (probably not going to mine anything but works nontheless). So I am considering pool mining. According to your article I must first downloan the entire blockchain which I am working on doing again to the E: drive.… Read more »
Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 109,271 GH/s and using an ETH – USD exchange rate of 1 ETH =306.01. Block reward is fixed at 3  ETH and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 15 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.074 per kWh.
None of those are really “big” in the scale of something like Litecoin. A single GTX 780 can do 28MH/s, so the biggest user there would be probably ten GPUs, maybe two computers total for that user. The whole thing could fit in 2 milk crates if you really felt like it. You’re not going to get very good throughput using 1x hacks on the motherboard, but you don’t need to (memory access is internal to the card). High end GPUs today have more than enough memory to store the current DAG and be slowly pulling the next one through through at its own leisure.
Talk about big, bad and beautiful, not to mention cool. I considered mining for a short period of time, but I didn’t go to the darkside. Gaming with my GPU in the 30’s and 40’s took some time to get used to.
For the players who have enough power to use it, Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders mod is something they’ll never want uninstall once it has been implemented. Unlike resource packs that are essentially a matter of taste and aesthetics, shader mods like this one offer direct upgrades to the graphics in Minecraft, so many players have nothing bad to say about them at all. It will also be necessary to download and install the GLSL shaders mod so Minecraft will allow custom shaders to be used in the first place.
I was pretty shocked to see that we can get more output with this rig. So, with the current price hike of Ethereum, you can get about $530 per month. Maybe I should recommend this build to a lot of people. This is due to Ethereum which crossed $1100 and will continue to cross. Just overclock this rig for more output.
The rest of this guide focuses on the hardware side. For further help setting up an Ethereum wallet, join a pool, and use your miner. These steps are detailed in our beginner’s guide to mining Ethereum.
The Radeon RX 480 is most efficient GPU in the market. The power cost per day shows $0.4320. The hash power if this GPU is 25.0 MH/s. this implies that it has the cost per MH/s at $7.96. The Radeon RX 480’s return per day is standing at $1.21, with a return per year of $440.91. This GPU will cost your around $200.
Thanks for your kind words. This will always make me feel good and I will write more guides. But as you asked about the software part of it. you can go with Windows and look for a mining software like claymore or if you want a simple mining interface you can go with minergate.

So far, everyone on Mark’s floor has flown under the radar. MIT monitors electricity use by building rather than by individual, and the miners almost certainly don’t pull enough power to make their dorm’s electricity use look anomalous. All of the other miners I spoke to had similar experiences; their universities raised no objections—either out of ignorance or apathy. 1 (SUTD and Stanford did not respond to requests for comment. Babson College said it didn’t “have anything to add on this subject.”)

We’ll be seeing ETH go PoS this year, meaning there’s 1million+ graphic cards switching from ETH to other coins as well. This will create huge chaos for sure. Once that happens i hope miners have gotten their ROI
Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders overhauls nearly everything about the game’s graphics. With this shader pack, water looks clear and fluid, plants look alive and seem to sway back and forth as if they were breathing, and nighttime feels even spookier than ever. Certain aspects about vanilla have connected textures, but those pale in comparison to Sonic Ether’s shaders. Bodies of water, whether small or huge and open, look like a uniform piece–just like they do with real bodies of water. On a windy day, trees and tall grass will dance back in forth in the breeze, and Sonic Ether’s shaders incorporate that sense of animation.
Hopefully we get some plateau, and ETH price goes up to where there is ROI at some point for cards in the $250 range that were online in the 2018 time frame. Then we can all be happy (and blissfully ignore the fact that buying would likely have been better haha – but yes that’s a different topic entirely – profitable in USD is good enough for me for this project!)
At first i would probably buy 1 GPU then later add more, up to 6, even though i am planning to set up more then 1 rig, probably in another apartment of my friend if my apartment would not let me run more then 1 (6 GPU’s) rig…
With projects like Golem you’ll be able to hire out your compute power through Ethereum to industries such as science, mining, CGI movie producers, etc…who generally need huge capital to invest in their own super computer data centers.
Well for Antminer i used Angry ip Scanner program to scan for IP addresses and find all the hardware installed, then run on website for example: 192.168.1.4 (I use this address for Antminer, it asks me for the password though, and it was (user: root, password: root, then i changed it, and i could configure the system for mining bitcoin) I am not sure if it is the same for Ethereum mining?
For me, the answer is yes, but that may not be the case for everyone. Mining profitability relies heavily on the cost of electricity. If you pay too much for power, it’s the utility company that benefits most from your mining efforts. Where I live, we pay some of the lowest power rates in North America. Most mining calculators assume that you pay 10 cents per kWh (kilowatt hour) of power. For me, the price is lower, but in many cities, you’ll pay significantly more.
@jerrybanfield What are your thoughts on GenesisMining cloud mining? I’ve been using it for two weeks now, and they’re very safe and reliable. Invested $200 and will get ROI in 4.5 months, but the twist is, you get two years of mining, and there are no maintenance fees or electricity costs.
Power consumption – Each miner consumes a different amount of energy. Make sure to find out the exact power consumption of your miner before calculating profitability. This can be found easily with a quick search on the Internet or through this list. Power consumption is measured in Watts.

Will you read this post because it shows how easy it is to get started mining with a small investment in equipment and the willingness to learn how to set everything up and explains what steps are needed to decide if investing in the time and equipment for mining?
