About two months ago, hedge fund billionaire Michael Novogratz made a bold He’d put 10% of his net worth into digital currencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum. But a lot can happen in a couple of months. Specifically, the price of Bitcoin has more than doubled, and the Ethereum price has multiplied six-fold.
As we go into the beginning of January 2018, Ethereum’s difficulty is at lower-than-average levels considering trend we saw coming out of the summer, passing 3000T. And even with the current 1800T, we’re still at more than triple the 500T we saw at the beginning of June. That also compares to an average of around 350T for the month of May. Prices were also much lower then, however.
These include everything from helping to reduce the 30% of UN aid budgets lost to corruption to building online identity portfolios for refugees, reconciling everything from health and education records to entitlements.
Let me put it another way. A computer running a single R9 290 would have about 22.5% the mining output of this rig. Since this rig cost about 3,200$ that means for the single R9 290 computer would need to cost a total of 720$ USD or less to be more cost effective. After you buy the 290 graphics card you wouldn’t have enough money left over out of 720$ USD to buy the rest of the parts needed for the computer.
It seems like the reason the price of STEEM is down is only because of the traders, but once we reach that 100k user mark I think that they will start to realize the REAL value of STEEM and STEEM Power.
Mine is a Frankenstein type so I did not worry of buying new GPU’s. In the long run, once my investment has gone full blown, I can buy new rigs. If ever things goes down, I still have the option to sell my GPU’s and at least I have return of my investment even though not 100%.
For graphics cards in the AMD side of things RX 470/480/570/580 and R9 290/390. For Nvidia only the GTX 1060s are cost efficient for ETH/ETC you can mine on other 10xx series cards but 1070/1080 aren’t very cost efficient for Etheruem and are better used for equihash coins.
I think is better to install Linux onto this 60GB SSD and then install Ethminer software rather than installing Windows since space is so limited for that SSD ( Windows 7 or 10 may take almost all of the space).. and this also will give me an option to install another mining software for another crypto-currency later on, rather then installing EthOS…just for Ethereum…What do you think about it?
The Ethereum Daily Rewards Chart is misleading. The new supply of eth (block reward) is only one piece of the mining reward. Transaction fees are another important piece that has increased quite a bit recently. Not always a big factor, these fees have contributed between 1k to 3k to the daily total mining reward and are worth noting if future usage of the network skyrockets with various scaling implementations.
– Despite what anyone says, CORE GPU CLOCK SPEED MATTERS! My cards hash better when overclocked. Overclocking GPU and/or RAM barely increases 1 or 2 megahashes and runs the card pretty hot for little gains. Balance needs to be struck.

Step 6 — Mount and connect GPUs. This is likely going to be the trickiest part of the actual hardware assembly, but it’s not that bad. First you need to take out all of the risers from their packaging, and assemble them appropriately. The PCIe 16x part will connect directly to the bottom of the video card, which connects to a USB cable, which connects to a PCIe 1x piece that connects to your motherboard. You can connect this 1x slot to the 1x slots on the board, and also the 16x slot. However, for the 16x slot, be careful to place the 1x piece in the correct direction. The below image depicts the correct placement.
I ask my wife to pinch me every morning when I wake up and check my bank balance. I have never seen a number that big before in MY bank account. And it just continues to grow and grow some more…this is what I’ve been waiting for my entire life. Now that I have a taste of what it really feels like to be my own boss and make tens of thousands of dollars every week, I won’t ever look back!
Geth needs to link up with the network before anything becomes fully operational. Type in ‘geth —rpc’ in the terminal and then press enter (you should be used to this by now), this action starts the download of Ethereum’s blockchain and synchronizing with the global network. This process is time intensive and is dependent on how large the blockchain is currently and the speed of your internet connection. Make sure you wait until the completion of this process before mining.

Mining fills a big need — providing consensus among network participants regarding the state of the world of historical and current transactions. Because miners solve complicated problems using transaction information and cryptography, what they do is referred to as proof-of-work.
As always agree with what you’ve written here. I definitely do think it is profitable for people who already have cards. I still think it could be profitable even at current GPU prices, but for me it is insane to buy more at this point from a risk standpoint, as I’m being ultra risk averse.
It’s not gonna plateau. What all the stores being sold out means, is that a shit load of gpu’s are being bought straight through the major suppliers for large farms, and new cards are going online just as fast as they are being made. What you proposed would be true if production was down, but it’s not. What we’d want to see is cards cathering dust on the shelves at retail stores. What’s happening right now is the worst possible realistic screnario when it comes to the difficulty.
The good news is that persistence often pays off here, as it does in virtually every part of Minecraft and the real world. It’s possible to find Moas, and it’s even easier to find pigs. Once one has been found, navigating the seemingly endless stream of sky-based islands becomes quite a bit easier. And, as with virtually every game, players will feel more at ease about their role in the new world as they get more comfortable. Mastering new poisons and poison darts, as well as the slime, sand, and snow, that can have adverse health effects, will pay off in the end.
I have QTY 3 of MSI GTX 1080 TI, If i replace the graphic cards that you mentioned with 3 GTX 1080 TI and but the rest of the parts you mentioned, would the miner work fine? I am thinking to expand it to 5 graphic cards.
I’ve got a question. I’m loving the shader so far, but is there a way to make the night vision effect work with the shader? I’ve got the spider queen mod installed for 1.7.10 and when in the darkness you get permanent night vision, but with the shader active it’s still pitch black. The effect is still active, just no visible change. Any ideas?
They are all priced the same on a cost per MH basis  – usually you get a discount the more you buy. However this is due to the demand with Ethereum as it is such a popular 2nd generation crypto currency. They generally offer daily payouts to the user which you can feed into your ethereum wallet on your phone or however you choose to store it.
