However, a high hash rate does not guarantee profits; electricity is still a big factor. The hash rate is often denoted as mega hash per second, a million calculations in a second. It can also be labeled Giga hash, which is 1000 mega hash or terra hash; this has 1000 Giga hash.Simply put, a higher hash rate means greater mining speed.
Ethereum mining is best done by joining a mining pool so that there is a steady stream of Ether’s into your wallet and in this guide we will show you a step by step process to do just this. In our “How to Mine Ethereum on a Windows PC” we showed you how to install all the software to get your computer mining with its graphics card and failing that, with its CPU. However this isn’t the whole process, as when you mine on your own the chance of finding a block is incredibly small considering the total amount of hashing power in the network – so the best option is to join a mining pool to smooth the volatility of returns – you can read about the benefits of joining a bitcoin or ethereum mining pool here.

The NVIDIA GTX 1070 is capable of mining at 30Mh per second while consuming just 100W of electric power. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC is the best of the models available currently on the market. It operates cooler than most 1070 models probably due to the fact that it is available with a twin fan design. On sale at amazon, you will have this Ethereum mining GPU in your possession.
Compare the above to my 2 x R9 390X GPUs mining rig. Hashrate is ~ 62.8 MH/s. Again from the mining calculator, my expected earning is 1.210311 ETH (USD 14.16) per day or 8.4722 (USD 99.12) per week. Mining rig consumes ~ 700 watts. This is equal to 700 x 24 = 16,800 watt-hours per day, or 16.8 kWh. 16.8 kWh x USD .17 per kWh = USD 2.85 per day in electricity.
When choosing the CPU, you only need the bare minimum. I wouldn’t recommend getting the absolute cheapest, but one or two points above. The reason for this, is that some extra processing power is useful when setting up and makes reboots slightly quicker. I chose to go with the Intel Celeron G1840.
Ether is an absolute essential, as it serves as fuel for the smooth running of the Ethereum platform. An interesting way to look at Ether is an incentive used to motivate developers to create top notch applications.
A miner is a computer set up with that specific purpose in mind – to go through transactions and solve the algorithms as efficiently as possible. For their efforts, miners are rewarded with small amounts of said currency.  Mining typically requires a tremendous amount of processing power, and used to be done using the CPU or the GPU, depending on the currency. CPU mining was popular a while back, with the rise of Bitcoin, but started becoming obsolete when chips designed specifically for mining appeared. These chips, known as ASICs (application-specific integrated circuit) and FPGAs (field-programmable gate array), usually provided significantly better mining performance, and quickly became the go-to options for people looking to go into the mining business, as they outperformed CPU mining and were able to keep up with the constantly-increasing difficulty of mining. This is how Bitcoin mining slowly moved from the masses to specialized groups that were willing to invest in dedicated mining hardware.

There are limited options for Dash cloud mining contracts. If nothing on the list below meets your needs, you can buy Bitcoin cloud mining contracts (listed above) and simply convert the bitcoins you earn to Dash.
All these people in the bitcoin forums pushing 1080ti and Vega 64 are literal morons when it comes to business skills. You buy the cheapest card with the fastest hashrate that has the fastest return. Anything else is stupid. You’re the first honest blogger I’ve seen on this subject. +1 Subbed!
EthPool is a predictable solo mining pool. This means if you would mine solo with a defined hashrate, you would find a block every x days, in theory. EthPool sums up your credits and pays out a full block to you, every x days.
2.6 Type in cd cpp and then press tab and then enter. This is taking you into the newly installed Ethereum Mining software folder. And this should look like this after pressing tab C:\Program Files>cd cpp-ethereum and pressing enter gives you C:\Program Files\cpp-ethereum>
Dwarfpool was once the biggest ethereum mining pool, but its hash rate has since dropped to approximately 4.3%. Just like the first and second pools above, they also ask for 1% as the block fee on your rewards.
So, with our eyes on Ethereum in particular, being the new rising star, that’s exactly what we did here at HotHardware (1 ETH = ~ $277.85 as of this publication). We also learned some handy tips for tweaking your mining rig for maximum hash rate throughput, while keeping your heat and energy consumption at a minimum. We will be sharing these as well has some key hardware benchmark metrics and suggestions to help boost your personal mining potential.
Never underestimate the power of the Radeon RX 400 series. The Radeon RX 480 is not only the cheapest GPU in this list, it is also easily the most economic GPU. This card has a hash rate of 25 MH/s while only drawing 150 W at max load. You’ll make over $700 USD annually per card! Comparitively to the RX 580, this card is an awesome Ethereum miner!
The  Nvidia GTX 1070   is what I’ve been putting in all the rigs I’ve built for folks since about April of 2017 when all the AMD Rx 4 and 5 series cards sold out and doubled in price on secondary markets. It can mine at 30Mh/s while sipping only 100 watts of electricity. After testing several models, my favorite is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC (model # GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD). It has a twin fan design and seems to run cooler than most of the other 1070 models I’ve tested. If that model is unavailable, any twin fan designed 1070 will work well. Blower models like the Gigabyte 1070 Founders Edition mine at the same hash rate, but need more supplemental cooling like a box fan pointed at your mining rig. I’ve linked to Amazon above, but be sure to check eBay as well for availability since Amazon often limits the number of GPU units you can purchase.
Linux might be able to better handle massive mining rigs with many GPUs, but for 1-2 (or possibly more) cards, you’ll probably see very little difference in mining rate, so what your comfortable with plays a larger role.
Cloud mining is definitely the easiest way to start mining, as you can purchase a mining contract whenever you like. You do not need to setup a rig or even have an internet connection, the company which hosts the miners will do this all for you. You’re only required to pay monthly for the hashing power, however these contracts can turn out to be quite unprofitable, as contracts tend to last for 24 months, and with the networks increasing difficulty you may start losing money every month. Another negative is that you will not be able to sell the rigs, and will not be able to cancel the contracts. However if you do decide to start cloud mining, one of the largest companies for this is Genesis Mining. Nice Hash is another cloud mining company which unlike Genesis does not lock you into a contract and allows you to cancel any time you want, making this an excellent option. Nice Hash also allows you to sell your hashing power for Bitcoins, so you can set your own mining rig to mine on the Nice Hash servers and earn Bitcoins. However, this can turn out to be less profitable than mining an altcoin by yourself. You can use this code: MRT1YF on Genesis Mining for a 3% discount on any purchase!
well Andy, if you do that your wasting time …1080 ti earning is only 20 percent less than 3 gtx 1060. now you want to have like 100 gpus running … than 1080ti all the way in nvidia. So serious miner go for 1070 or 1080 ti. Any lower is waste of resource like space, riser cable, psu, motherboard, etc. You need count them also in when considering ROI. Not just ROI of the Card. even though with gtx 1060 profit percent is high ,its just 3.5 -4$ per day. with ti you roll at 10-12 $ a day. market favorable that even 15$.
This is the second largest Ethereum mining pool which is available for Bitcoin mining also. It opened in 2013 and is targeted towards Chinese miners, but is available only in USA and Asia, and this is the most likely reason for its success. It is therefore not for every interested miner. It charges a fee of 5% pay-per-share and uses stratum mining protocol. In addition, it offers daily payouts and a minimum withdrawal amount of 0.1 ETH.

Nevertheless, when a designer makes claims regarding hash rates at certain clock frequencies, one can determine if A. there is a straightforward calculation and B. if the designer is being imprecise (rounding values) or even intentionally dishonest, as the ratio between clock cycles and hash rate should remain the same.
Ethereum is quite difficult to get mining on windows – although with a bit of help and following the tutorial below you can get it up and running and start your own ethereum mining project in 15 mins. We’re going to show you how to start mining Ethereum on your GPU and CPU with Windows 64 bit in this guide. You will need to download two programs and need to have a decent GPU with more than 1GB of memory to get the most bang for your buck in terms of mining as Ethereum works on a memory hard hashing technique which GPU’s are best at.
Let’s look at these two words, hash and rate. A hash is a proof of work calculation that you do within a block. Once that block is done you move to the next one. All mined blocks are included within the blockchain. Hash rate implies the number of proof of work calculations in the network per given time. It is usually denoted per second.
I created a comparison chart based on Hashrate and Cost – and only list cards currently for sale online. Check it out here:https://www.pyramidreviews.com/cryptocorner/mining-gpu-speed-and-price-comparison/
Mining solo, while sometimes more profitable, it’s usually not the right choice for most miners. When mining solo, you are doing all the work alone which means that you’ll receive the entire block reward, the problem is that mining is also based on a luck factor, which means that if your hashpower isn’t high enough, you may never see a reward come your way. With pool mining, however, this variance is eliminated and you receive payments that correspond to the portion of the work that you have done.
If you decide to join a pool, then choosing the right pool that meets your mining expectations is important, as well as understanding the different pay-out methods and how they will impact your earnings.
Hashing24 is a cloud mining contract provider for individuals who want to get involved in bitcoin mining. The Hashing24 team has been involved in a mining business since 2012. Its initial mining power supplier is one of the industry’s leaders – BitFury.
While Ether seems to play better with AMD cards, ZCash is more friendly with NVIDIA, the GTX 1080Ti being one of the best performers in the segment with a hash rate between 700 and 750 MH/s. At the current ZEC value, mining difficulty and power costs, an NVIDIA GTX 1080Ti can bring you a monthly profit of approximately $126. While the figure is below what you stand to make with an AMD 295×2 mining Ether, using 1080Tis for ZEC mining has its advantages: GTX 1080Tis are much easier to come by nowadays than 295x2s, and have a significantly better resell value if mining become unviable.
