Hence, it is reported that Ethereum is changing to Proof of Stake framework later in this year, in which mining of ether is irrelevant and works on Consensus algorithm different from current Dagger Hashimoto algorithm.
“Mining Ethereum is really complicated and I wanted the simplest solution. Luckily I found CoinMiner who sent a rig to me 1 week after ordering and all I needed to do was turn it on. Fantastic system and I’m planning to buy more.”

As always agree with what you’ve written here. I definitely do think it is profitable for people who already have cards. I still think it could be profitable even at current GPU prices, but for me it is insane to buy more at this point from a risk standpoint, as I’m being ultra risk averse.
Need some help with getting my rig to recognize my 5 AMD r390s. Currently have asRocks h81 pro btc, 2x 1000w psu, 4gb RAM, 256gb SSD. All GPUs have power and fans run, but system doesn’t register. Downloaded original bios(as cards were second hand), all drivers are installed. Kinda lost here. All help is greatly appreciated!
Your original link to amazon which included the picoPSU with an adapter is no longer available (404 page). Can you provide the optimal power brick adapter (link to product or recommended specifications) for use with the picoPSU 160xt in this build please?
Sapphire R9 290X is high-end gaming GPU.It has core clock speed of 1130and mem clock speed of 1200. It uses the ethash algorithm to mine ethereum. It will cost you about $$$ and has the hash rate about 32Mh/s.
The GTX 1070 is an amazing graphics card, where it’s only let down is it’s expensive price. However, this card achieves amazing hash rates on the ETHash and EquiHash algorithms, and draws a mere 150 Watts. My personal rig uses 4 GTX 1070’s, so I highly recommend these cards, especially if you can get them for a good price. This card is an excellent performer when it comes to gaming, so if you decide to sell your rig, you should be able to sell these cards for a great price. With 8 GBs of onboard VRAM, you will not have to worry about an increasing DAG file.
The power cost of this card is about $0.43 per day which is significantly lower than both the aforementioned Radeon R9 GPUs. Moreover, it requires a power consumption of just 150W – half that of the R9 7990. For this card, the cost per MH/s at $7.96. This GPU features an 8GB GDDR5 RAM.
I don’t understand why others ASIC resistant cryptocurrencies such as Vertcoin and Monero aren’t worth mining. At all. It’s not worth buying a high-end GPU to mine these coins even for those who don’t have to pay for electricity bill. But I do. And it’s pretty expensive here (~$0.121) .
With the 2GB MSI R7 370 cards, I have no problems adjusting voltage with atitweak. Even though all my 370’s have the same BIOS version, a couple of them default to 1.163V while the rest default to 1.188V. To get them stable at 1140 core I need to run them at 1.188. So far they are the best cards I’ve found for hash/$. I picked up a few of them from NCIX as open box sales for
A Radeon RX 470 has a modest hash rate of 24.0MH/s. Its power cost per day is exactly the same as the Radeon RX 480 at $0.4320. Its cost per MH/s is $9.13, giving it a return per day of $1.15 and a return per year of $418.16. Radeon RX 470 will cost you $219.
You would need a different motherboard that’s capable of supporting two different RX 460s. The software itself can run on two separate GPUs, so that’s definitely not an issue. The issue is that dual GPU motherboards can cost quite a bit of money compared to single slot boards.
Oh, and with Ethereum there is one more fly in the ointment to spoil your mining hopes – if it switches to a proof of stake system this kind of mining will no longer be possible. They mention that in their notes. At that point, they will try to hash anything else that is profitable but you could easily be SOL.
To run your mining rig you only need about a 60gb hard drive which you should get as a solid state drive. This will allow the OS to run smoothly and prevent drive failures. If you plan on mining without a pool you’ll want to get a larger hard drive to download the entire blockchain (~10gb+) but we highly recommend using a mining pool.
This course can be taken by anyone who is interested in understanding blockchain technology, and how it relates to finance and fintech. Professionals working within finance may derive even more benefit from this course.
Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, announced earlier this year that the Ethereum network is going to switch from a proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake framework to confirm transactions. With a proof-of-stake system, holders of Ethereum stake coins by putting them up as collateral to validate transactions. This means that miners will soon be obsolete.
3) Hard Drive You need a hard drive to store your operating system and your software for mining. A standard SSD drive will do (an SSD hard drive is just a storage device and is called solid state as there aren’t moving bits which can break). The size will depend on what you are planning to do when mining. If you are planning to download the entire blockchain and mine as shown in this guide here – then you will need to take into account how big the blockchain will become and need to spend a little more. If you are just going to mine ethereum as part of a pool then you don’t need to store the blockchain and can get a smaller SSD drive. We used the SSDNow V300 120GB. Buy it here.
As you can see, the registration process is very handy, since you can sign-in with your existing Amazon account. You may notice that AWS offers the EC2 service free for 750 hrs/month, for 12 months. However, that is for the Linux t2.micro instance. That is good for testing, but not for mining Ethereum. I will tell you later what instance to select to maximize the GPU power.
I do love solar since it helps to nullify the electricity costs if planned around. My previous job i designed solar systems for homes and businesses thus know how to calculate how much solar is needed to cover any electric usage (i designed my own system on my house).
However, the Titan V’s massive price tag both puts it out of reach for the average home miner, but it ensures that it’ll take a very long time to pay for itself. It’s likely that the lower-priced, stripped-down gaming versions of the Titan V will be unveiled in 2018. One of these cards may prove to be the ultimate bang-for-the-buck in Ethereum mining power.
With mining rigs, you want the lowest clocked CPU, bare minimum RAM, 5,6 or 7 GPUs and a very basic HD.   Oh, and as you can see from the picture, you don’t want nor can you fit all those GPUs instead of a normal case.  You can use a nice custom made case as you see above or something cheap like a milk crate.

Also take a look at this chart: https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate [4]. That tells us that hashing has gone up from 5,700GH/s around Jan 1 to 48,000 GH/s which is an almost 10x increase. So now you have 1/10th the chance of discovering the next block compared to just over 6 months ago. Extrapolate this kind of exponential growth forward over 2 years and you should see that the yield is looking nothing like 32 ETH. If you’re making 1.5 ETH a month this month, next month it’ll be maybe 1 ETH (or less) and so on. In 2 years you’ll be making basically nothing per month, definitely not 1.5 ETH. Believe me – I’ve done this with BTC mining and never made a profit.
The most ideal mining hardware provides high hashing power at optimum power consumption. This explains why Ethereum miners prefer Graphic Processing Units over Central Processing units. GPUs are known to deliver higher hashing efficiency as compared with CPUs.
In our calculations, we also used a favorable, but not ideal, scenario for electricity costs. Consider the following three examples, one of an individual miner in Connecticut, one in Washington D.C., and our hypothetical mining rig:

  1. We’ll be seeing ETH go PoS this year, meaning there’s 1million+ graphic cards switching from ETH to other coins as well. This will create huge chaos for sure. Once that happens i hope miners have gotten their ROI
“Cloud mining is a profitable pursuit if you know what you are doing. While many cloud-mining services provide different mining options, not all of them are the best choice, obviously. The market of mining is very dynamic in general, so you should most probably learn something in the Internet about different options before making a considerable investment. Usually people tend to ignore open information like mining difficulty growth or currency value changes and they get very frustrated once mining becomes less profitable.”

One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. I don’t mind because I have been able to get some good prices on AMD cards lately with one guy even saying that he was selling cards he just purchased brand new in December because their technology was becoming obsolete. Probably read this article and took it… Read more »
Question mine under linux ubuntu debian arch centos or windows or ethos and why, thank’s for the réponse, thx 🙂 with 7970 R9 280 thx.For the best rentability and the best hashrate and pool nanopool ou suprnova or fly or other, thx i’m noob thx
