Mining Ether takes up a lot of electricity, and you are right in being concerned about this. On the plus side, though, if mining practices are carried out efficiently more income is generated through the sale of Ether. You will need your Ethereum Mining calculators for the process.
The Service Provider uses third party services and such third party’s affiliates services which enable the Customer to place monetary deposits and perform transfer of payments within the website of the Service Provider by making use of the Customers existing credit / debit card (as and if available and applicable) (the “ Card Services” and the “ Card Service Provider”). The Card Services do not include any additional service, and such Card Services do not Customers account.
So is it worth it to start mining Ethereum in December 2017? It depends. With 6 8GB RX 480 GPUs, for example, you’ll get about 150-180 Mh/s if you optimize them with a modded BIOS. At current rates that’s about .13 ETH per week, and at current prices that’s about $81 profit. That’s a pretty minimal return, and considering the incoming “Casper” update which will slowly but surely nullify traditional mining operations, a $2,000 rig, assuming current rates, would probably not reach return-on-investment by what it mines alone in any reasonable time frame.
Compare the above to my 2 x R9 390X GPUs mining rig. Hashrate is ~ 62.8 MH/s. Again from the mining calculator, my expected earning is 1.210311 ETH (USD 14.16) per day or 8.4722 (USD 99.12) per week. Mining rig consumes ~ 700 watts. This is equal to 700 x 24 = 16,800 watt-hours per day, or 16.8 kWh. 16.8 kWh x USD .17 per kWh = USD 2.85 per day in electricity.
It’s just as inaccurate to calculate the rise in difficulty without calculating the rise in price. Also, when Ethereum goes to PoS, GPU mining efforts can just be transferred to other coins and algorithms.
I had no idea what cloud mining was until I discovered your business on YouTube. Many of your very happy and satisfied customers chose to post videos describing the service you provide. I have since purchased a few contracts from you and look forward to using a currency that will not deprecate in value such as the one I am currently holding some savings in. Thank You Genesis Mining for giving myself and many others an opportunity to invest in this new industry.

That being said, the more powerful your mining hardware is the more likely you are to successfully mine Ether, and in turn generate a profit. If you use one of the three GPUs mentioned above, you’re off to a good start.
Whichever card you decide on, be prepared to spend a lot of shopping time at the various retailers and resellers. Only then can you hope to find that coin at a “fair” price. Mining has really inflated GPU prices across the board, which is a good indicator that GPU mining is still profitable—if you play your cards right.
Another popular choice when it comes to Graphic Processing Units for mining Ethereum, the Radeon R9 HD 7990 used to be the biggest name till the R9 295X2 came along. This device is still in use by many users but the biggest drawback it offers is that it comes with a slightly higher price but offers a lower hash-power. Nevertheless, the R9 HD 7990 is still one of the best GPUs to mine Ethereum.
This is great info. I’ve just built a mining rig, and I’ve written up a post on how I did it. The post focuses on building the case, not software or which components to buy. http://blog.timwheeler.io/building-an-ethereum-mining-rig/.

  1. The GTX 1070 is an amazing graphics card, where it’s only let down is it’s expensive price. However, this card achieves amazing hash rates on the ETHash and EquiHash algorithms, and draws a mere 150 Watts. My personal rig uses 4 GTX 1070’s, so I highly recommend these cards, especially if you can get them for a good price. This card is an excellent performer when it comes to gaming, so if you decide to sell your rig, you should be able to sell these cards for a great price. With 8 GBs of onboard VRAM, you will not have to worry about an increasing DAG file.
    – Our mining plan at HashFlare has 25 MH/s mining power and gives us 2.5 US$ daily (ETH price stands at 1100$ and there are no maintenance or electricity fees). Currently, you pay for the same contract 550$. If Ether price and difficulty stay the same, payback time for this cloud mining plan is less than 7 months. As a contract lasts a year, you are 5 months in profit.
ASIC   Application-specific Integrated Circuit, an ASIC is the current ‘top of the line’ technology used in Bitcoin mining. It is able to generate orders of magnitude more hashes per watt of power than the next best technology. For greater detail, please see the hardware page.

Ethereum mining calculators are available for calculating profits. So, there’s no need to get worked up since you’ll still get a profit at the end.
Kumamoto-Energy, a local power producer in Japan, has announced that they will use solar energy for mining cryptocurrencies. Japan Looks to Greener Energy Cryptocurrency mining farms are trying to reduce costs and consume as less energy as possible, but sometimes the task is very difficult.
