The GTX 1070 has a steady hash rate of 26 Mh/s with a power draw of about 135W, with a monthly profit of 58.18 USD and a power cost of 8.26 USD per month. This card will take just under 9 months to pay itself off at 500 USD, and 8 months to pay off at 569 CAD.
FPGA   Field Programmable Gate Array, an FPGA is the former king of the Bitcoin mining world. An FPGA is an integrated circuit whos function can be changed as it can be reprogrammed. This makes if more versatile than an ASIC, but far less efficient in its ability. They enjoyed a short time between GPUs and ASICs as the most efficient way to mine. For further details, please see our hardware page.
Cloud mining is basically a service that will allow you to pay for hashing power, which is hosted in data centres and sold in Gigahash/seconds (GH/s). Many cloud mining plans are available online but it is important to choose a reliable provider.
Unlike Bitcoins, which can no longer be effectively mined using GPUs, it is possible to mine Ethereum using them. This is possible thanks to Ethereum’s ASIC-resistant algorithm which make it impossible to be mined by dedicated processors.
 – For Power Supplies, you want to double check that your PSU has enough connections to support the number of GPU’s you are running and enough overall wattage to support your total system power draw (and to give yourself some buffer of at least 10-15%). A helpful site for identifying how many 6 or 8 pin PCI-E power connections your GPU will require is here (Realhardtechx.com) and to get a sense of your overall system power draw, this is a good power consumption calculator (outervision).  Pro Tip: if building multiple rigs stick with the same brand PSU as you can use extra cables on your other systems if needed (e.g. I use only EVGA G2 PSU’s so if I have extra VGA, sata or molex cables from one build I can use them on another build).
The second day of work brought a lot of successes, as well as some failures and even few minor injuries. Everyone’s fine though; the minor inconveniences didn’t prevent us from keep doing what we were doing.
Honestly I thought daily payouts would be a bit faster since it is cloud mining and not a crypto faucet. But all in all,.. I’m hoping it gets me all the way up to 1.0 bitcoin and higher very quickly,.. so I can upgrade to the platinum contract with the bitcoins i make from these contracts I purchased,” both the SHA-256 Lifetime Contract and the X11 Scrypt 1 Year Contract”. Then what I make from the Platinum I will use to upgrade to the diamond contract and if all goes successful well and as planned,…I’ll keep purchasing diamond contracts from you guys to maximise my profits. I also have to wait 30 days to receive payouts which is disappointing because I paid with a credit card :(. But I will definitely give “Genesis Cloud Mining” services 5 stars when I start seeing real results like complete whole Bitcoin payouts straight to my electrum wallet address,..from {1.0 to 5.0 bitcoins} and higher. Allowing me to easily move on to the next contract instead of Just receiving small bitcoin amounts like satoshis. But nonetheless I give it 4 stars based on quick product delivery and almost instant results. This is a Promising cloud mining company and so far so good.
Tons of programs exist for you to mine in a pool or solo one of the most popular programs is Claymore’s GPU Miner. We found Claymore’s to be the easiest to use with a mining pool plus great performance results as well.
A password will be of you at this stage, and extra care should be taken here. Be sure about your password, write it down if possible and be sure to type it in carefully. Press enter once again after typing in the password and voila! Your new account is created.
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. I don’t mind because I have been able to get some good prices on AMD cards lately with one guy even saying that he was selling cards he just purchased brand new in December because their technology was becoming obsolete. Probably read this article and took it… Read more »
If you plan to run Linux, you can use pretty much anything, including a ~$5 16GB USB stick (we’ll be using Claymore miner, which doesn’t write Ethereum’s DAG file to disk, so we don’t need to worry about wearing a USB stick out due to constantly writing to it, like with the stock ethminer). With that said, SSDs are pretty cheap nowadays and it might be nice to have one in case you want to try Windows at some point.

One of the more unique elements of a mining rig is having a computer case that can handle 6 GPUs. Luckily people are making cases designed to hold a lot of graphics cards, an open air case is recommended for keeping the rig running optimal & cool.
If a quieter and exceptionally cooler home and/or work place is paramount, then purchasing components/equipment that usually requires elaborate cooling and ventilation systems, can prove a deciding factor. The noise can prove excruciating over time, especially you are mining close to a place of work. Electronic dust is a problem too, for breathing as well as for the wear and tear of other appliances/parts.
(everything is stuck and you can’t connect to your instance) this can happen when have a dynamic ip with your internet connection. Update the “my ip” solution here: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/authorizing-access-to-an-instance.html
This is another great graphics card for mining, although it pulls more power than the 1050Ti and has a steeper starting price, it pays off with its large hash rate bump. This card also has an external power connector, so you will not be able to plug this into any old desktop computer. However, this card is an excellent performer on the ETHash algorithm, as well as EquiHash. Keep in mind that if you choose the 3GB variant you should know that in the future, you will not be able to mine some coins on the ETHash algorithm due to how the algorithm functions; where the DAG file is stored in the GPUs VRAM. Even though this shouldn’t be a problem for a long time, it is worth noting. You can check the DAG size for many popular coins on this website.
Ethereum plans to switch to Proof of Stake in 2018 which will eliminate mining slowly over time. But even if Ethereum is no longer mined you can find a new coin to mine, we recommend checking out whattomine which will keep you in the know for highest ROI coins to mine.
Currently you need to allow ‘access control expose headers’ if you don’t in your browser. The Etherchain API does not have the headers for this loaded in, so I couldn’t get cross domain requests to work, they kept getting rejected for “No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource” if anybody has any ideas. Anyways, if the calc doesn’t load for you, you can install that CORS plugin and it will work. Hope to have that resolved soon.

  1. So I am working through some issues. First I have two drives. C: which is a fairly small SSD drive just for my OS (the blockchain is too big to fit on here) and an E: drive which stores everything else. I finally figured out how to store the blockchain on E: with my coinbase and if I am solo mining it works (probably not going to mine anything but works nontheless). So I am considering pool mining. According to your article I must first downloan the entire blockchain which I am working on doing again to the E: drive.… Read more »
