and tap Enter, and you will start mining with your CPU. Again, you will need to create a DAG file, the first time you do this, which can take some time. But after that is complete, your “Geth” program downloaded in step 1 should start talking to your “ethminer” program, and you should start mining!
Ethereum is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform and system featuring smart contract (scripting) functionality.[3] It supports a modified version of Nakamoto consensus via transaction based state transitions. In popular discourse, the term Ethereum is often used interchangeably with Ether to refer to the cryptocurrency that is generated on the Ethereum platform.[citation needed]
Now make 6 “New” profiles and name them gpu1, gpu2… gpu6 and each profile will represent the GPU it’s attached to, so for example, we are using the “-p1” GPU to the profile “gpu1” and so on. You need to make so many profiles as you have mining GPU’s (all GPU’s except the Integrated one)
IMPORTANT: The following info is taken from the manufacturers and does not take into account and custom configuration such as overclocking, undervolting and BIOS modifications. Actual results vary depending on your customization. AMD cards allow for greater customization while Nvidia cards are locked to certain configurations.
BTC can be easily sold for cash so, indirectly, mining ETH can be a good way to fill up your bank account or earn cash. ETH can also be sold directly on several major exchanges, such as Bitfinex, BTC-e, Kraken, Gemini and Coinbase.
There’s a huge variation in graphics card setups for mining, however a reasonable beginner’s card for around would be something like the AMD Radeon 7770. This gives a hashrate of about 180-200KH/sec. The maximum power consumption for this card, however, is only around 80-90 watts, making it quite efficient.
Step 7: You need to tell your Geth Program to start communicating with the rest of the Ethereum network. You do this by typing in “geth –rpc” – this should look like “C:\>geth –rpc” (on the latest version you should try: geth –rpc –fast –cache=1024) Press enter and the screen should start downloading the blockchain for Ethereum – at this point you are synchronising with the rest of the Ethereum network. This can take a while depending on your internet speed and the current size of the blockchain, anywhere between 20 min and multiple hours. Sometimes your firewall can block this process – just click allow access. Keep this cmd open, you will need this to run in the background in order to be able to mine. Also make sure you start mining only after your blockchain is synchronised, not before. Due to The DAO hard fork you will have to specify if you want to mine on the hard fork chain or on the chain without the hard fork. To mine Ethereum (ETH) use geth –rpc –support-dao-fork in order to mine Ethereum Classic (ETC) use: geth –rpc –oppose-dao-fork
By the way: I do not NEED forex as an income stream – I am retired, and have a modest pension which is sufficient for my modest life style. In forex I would simply let my money compound until it reaches an amount which would allow me to take out some of it every year to get extra money to do the things I’d like to do in my last few years on earth (hopefully I have another 30-odd years, but more realistically only 20-odd years), and also leave something for my heirs. My strategy has been to start live trading by just putting $100 into forex every month, and letting it grow via compounding, at whatever rate of compounding I could achieve, for up to five years, until I have sufficient skill to be confident of earning about 0.2% per trading day. That was my modest target when I started. But what you write seems so MUCH more ambitious compared to my much-more modest goal that I am kind of blown away! So again, could you let me know what strategies I can use to make the kinds of returns you say one CAN make in forex?
Gregory Millman reports on an opposing view, comparing speculators to “vigilantes” who simply help “enforce” international agreements and anticipate the effects of basic economic “laws” in order to profit.[85]

Currency trading on margin involves high risk, and is not suitable for all investors. As a leveraged product losses are able to exceed initial deposits and capital is at risk. Before deciding to trade Forex or any other financial instrument you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite.
Please note that foreign exchange and other leveraged trading involves significant risk of loss. It is not suitable for all investors and you should make sure you understand the risks involved, seeking independent advice if necessary.
There are different instruments you can use to get exposure to foreign exchange without gearing, such as the Absa NewWave currency exchange traded notes, which give you exposure to dollars, pounds or euros without using your foreign exchange.
Once MinerGate has finished setup, it will place a shortcut on your desktop. Click ‘Finish’ to launch the program automatically. Once MinerGate launches click ‘Create Account’ at the top right. Enter both your email address and password. Make a note of both of these as you’ll need them to be able to access any mined funds. Next click ‘Register’.
if your motherboard has additional SATA or Molex PSU connectors, you will have to connect them to the PSU, for example an H81 pro btc has 2 additional Molex connectors, and they must be enabled if you plan to have 4 or more GPU’s connected, so that your PCI-E lanes can get enough power to run stable.
Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 450,256 KH/s and using a ZEC – USD exchange rate of 1 ZEC = $ 311.88. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the ZEC to USD conversion rate. Block reward is fixed at 10 ZEC and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 150 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
Governments / Central banks – A country’s central bank can play an important role in the foreign exchange markets. They can cause an increase or decrease in the value of their nation’s currency by trying to control money supply, inflation, and (or) interest rates. They can use their substantial foreign exchange reserves to try and stabilize the market.
For example, if the currency pair EUR/USD was trading at 1.0916/1.0918, then an investor looking to open a long position on the euro would purchase 1 EUR for 1.0918 USD. The trader will then hold the euro in the hopes that it will appreciate, selling it back to the market at a profit once the price has increased.
If your break-even time is 0 you have likely forgotten to input your hardware cost below. If it is never, your break-even time has been calculated to be greater than 10 years. This is likely due to a large diff change value which causes your predicted profitability to turn negative in the future. You could try lowering the diff change for a less agressive prediction or disable it altogether.
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. I don’t mind because I have been able to get some good prices on AMD cards lately with one guy even saying that he was selling cards he just purchased brand new in December because their technology was becoming obsolete. Probably read this article and took it… Read more »
Ethereum is a next-generation application development environment for secure digital “smart contracts”, title transfers, and payments – just to mention a few of its advanced capabilities for storing, verifying, and transferring real-world value (such as real estate transactions, vendor agreements, and the trading of commodities).  Ether (ETH) is the core digital currency in this environment.  Banks like J.P. Morgan and tech giants like Microsoft & IBM – plus tech implementation firms like Deloitte – are all looking at Ethereum to provide the backbone for super-secure and completely decentralized digital commerce (learn more HERE).
First, head over to Etherscan’s Mining Calculator, which provides up-to-date figures for the current price, block time and network hashrate (as measured in Gigahash per second aka GH/s; denoting billions of calculations per second):

Now replace “” with your Ethereum Wallet address (which starts with 0x…) so copy that from your other text file and paste it here.  Then replace “” with any name you would like to create for your miner.  We’ll use “MiningRig1” for our example, so you now have:
Mining pools exist in a variety of forms, and many have different types of payout structures. They are typically headquartered on the internet, where prospective partners can learn about the benefits and drawbacks of each pool and petition to join. Nonetheless, there is no guarantee that any particular mining pool will continue to thrive or even to exist, so miners are cautioned to do their research and select carefully before joining any specific pool.
This problem is completely avoided when using our hosted mining solutions because you don’t have to worry about your power consumption or the cost of electricity. Usually dedicated mining companies are in spaces where electricity can be produced using efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective ways, unlike in a residential home.
It’s true that Dogecoin mining (and all other crypto-currencies, apart from Primecoin) expends a large amount of energy in effectively useless calculations. They’re not solving anything interesting – they’re difficult simply for the purpose of being difficult, and this process of scarcity is the fundamental basis of all these digital currencies.
Note that buying used cards from crypto miners is not recommended, due to the wear and tear mining places on cards. If you resell your card after it’s no longer useful for mining, you should mention that it was used for mining, then price it accordingly.
Like all crypto currencies, the future of Ethereum remains uncertain, but the tone of the conversation surrounding Ethereum is different than almost any other crypto currency. Discussing the excitement, Genesis Mining’s CEO Marco Streng stated, “We believe it is headed to the moon and we are building a rocket ship to make sure our customers do not miss out”.
You may have noticed that the value of currencies goes up and down every day. What most people don’t realize is that there is a foreign exchange market – or ‘Forex’ for short – where you can potentially profit from the movement of these currencies. The best known example is George Soros who made a billion dollars in a day by trading currencies. Be aware, however, that currency trading involves significant risk and individuals can lose a substantial part of their investment. As technologies have improved, the Forex market has become more accessible resulting in an unprecedented growth in online trading. One of the great things about trading currencies now is that you no longer have to be a big money manager to trade this market; traders and investors like you and I can trade this market.

  1. Obtain a bitcoin wallet. Bitcoins are stored in digital wallets that are encrypted to protect your money. These wallets can be either locally or online. While online services that host your wallet won’t be able to access it, they are considered less secure as your money could potentially be lost if something catastrophic happens on their end.
The initial price you pay will determine how long it takes for your card to pay for itself, based on your mining profits. This formula will pinpoint your Return on Investment (ROI): Coins earned minus electrical costs and other costs. The ROI is usually expressed in months. Prices should be considered rough indications, since they’re based on the current Amazon prices at the time of writing.
