I finally made my decision to build middle ground between fun and profit. I bought some things I wouldn’t have bought if it were solely for profit. For example I purchased a rather nice open air mining case. That added about to the build.  I could have easily made that from scrap wood. I also bought a Noctua silent CPU cooler to reduce the noise to a level I could live with.  I did feel the best GPU for mining in my case was the NVIDIA GTX 1060 because of its low power consumption, super low price, and decent hashrate. I’ll make plenty of money on it, but its also a nice machine and showpiece in my office.
The Mist package contains the Ethereum wallet which you’ll need to receive any mining profits. Mist also includes an Ethereum browser with various functions, such as messaging and a social network and tutorials. As a tip, these tutorials and the social network are helpful learning resources. Don’t be scared to ask the Ethereals if you’re experience difficulty with any part of this process.
I am in the peocess of ordering parts for a good 6 card mining rig. What is the best GPU card i can get now that uses the least amount of power? What is your email? Maybe you could send me an updated list for 2018? Or are all the parts still basically the same as your first list? Thank you so much for all this help!!! ?
This is the third biggest ethereum mining pool. It has more than 13% of the ethereum hash rates. Furthermore, it has more than 38,000 miners. Besides that, its pool rate charge per reward is also low – 1%.
Step 12: Type in “cd prog” and then press the tab button. This should look like this C:\>cd prog and then press “tab” which will automatically complete the phrase for the closest fit found in the C: drive just like autotext does on your Iphone. After pressing “tab”, you should see C:/> cd “Program Files” and press enter which should give you a new line saying “C:\Program Files>”.
Because of the 25mh hash rate that it has, this GPU is one of the most affordable choices for those who want to mine Ethereum. The power of the Radeon RX 400 series can never be underestimated and the Radeon RX 480 is not an exception.
[…] Generally, the best GPU for mining Ethereum should be one which requires the lowest possible power usage, to produce high hash rate (performance per watts). One can use a gaming graphic card to mine Ethereum, if it is powerful enough, nonetheless, a powerful GPU does not mean a better GPU. When Ethereum mining is involved, profitability is very vital, most powerful GPUs consume a lot of electricity and give less profit. Related reading, see: (10 BEST ETHEREUM MINING POOLS TO JOIN (COMPARISON) […]
Step 15 CPU mining: Type in ethminer and press “enter” and you will start mining with your CPU. Again you will need to create a DAG file the first time you do this which can take some time. But after that is complete your Geth program downloaded in step 1 should start talking to your ethminer program and you should start mining!
Litecoin is closely based on bitcoin — they’re built on the same underlying code — but with a few distinctive tweaks. The central difference is that Litecoin is mined using the Scrypt algorithm, which is rooted in mathematical computations that are simpler than those used by bitcoin’s SHA-256 algorithm. As a result, in contrast to the specialized, super-expensive, energy-intensive mining rigs required to mine bitcoin, you can mine Litecoin with a decent laptop or desktop PC, especially if it’s tricked out with a powerful graphics card.
Even harder to find than the RX 480 is the AMD RX 470. A year ago, this was the absolute best card for mining. With a slight BIOS mod, it can do 29Mh/s while pulling 140 watts. Just like the other AMD cards listed, my favorite model is the AMD Sapphire RX 470 Nitro+ (Model #11256-10-20G).
Proof of Work is where you have to run powerful computers that have high hash rates. Hash rates are the number of “hashes,” or numbers a computer can come up with every second, needed to solve a block. Both of these types of mining have a difficulty factor to them where the more miners there are on the network, the lower the chance you have of mining a block. In other words, the lower your reward is. Here is a good website which has lots of information on the major cryptocurrencies, including their difficulties, block times, and block reward. If you want to check when the last block was mined, and who mined it, you can use this website for Bitcoin, and this one for Ethereum.
When looking at what people had to say about the XFX Radeon RX 460 2GB Passively Cooled Graphics Card they had great things to say. People were impressed by how well it is capable of rendering next generation games without any lagging. Customers felt that with this card, they can play demanding games on the highest settings and they would run beautifully every time.
Dwarfpool is an Ethereum mining pool that contributes less than 5% of the hash rate power. Although it has declined in its performance, it is still very reliable. It also charges just a percent of the miner’s reward, but the downside of using Dwarfpool is that the threshold payout is 1.01 ETH, which means more time before rewards are gotten. It is good for those who have very powerful Ethereum mining equipment.
Mist also contains Geth, a popular command line interface. You may choose to get only the latest Geth app for your system, it’s able to perform all the functions of Mist (and more) from the command line. Geth (an abbreviation for “go-ethereum”) allows you and your miner to interact more directly with the Ethereum network but Geth definitely requires some programming knowledge.
Besides Ethereum mining pool and Ethereum mining hardware, you will need high-quality Ethereum mining software and a reliable Ethereum wallet. I will provide more information on these in my following posts.
The Etherum project was born in 2015, and while for some it may have seemed like just another drop in the ocean of cryptocurrencies, it was clearly a lot more than that. For starters, unlike the vast majority of other cryptocurrencies out there, Etherum was not only about the cryptocurrency itself, but rather had its main focus on smart contracts – a feature that allowed the use of the blockchain technology in other fields as well, not just in the financial segment. You can read more about smart contracts here.
Currently, only the Star Wars Collector’s Edition model appears to be available from Nvidia. While these Jedi Order cards certainly look great, cosmetic features add nothing to the mining performance.
You see, Bitcoin was originally designed to be mined using CPU power. A little bit in its run, miners discovered they could significantly improve mining performance by moving the task to the GPU, which offered significantly better mining performance. However, GPU mining became outdated when dedicated ASICs started flooding the market, which were basically machines designed specifically with BTC mining in mind, which offered significantly better hash rates while using significantly less power. A single dedicated ASIC miner that you can buy for less than $200 can easily outperform a high-end GPU such as the NVIDIA GTX 1080TI, which costs roughly three times more, in terms of BTC mining performance.
In terms of Ethereum mining performance, the R9 series has aged far more gracefully (even though it was introduced in 2015) than the more recent RX 400 / 500 series (which launched in 2016 and 2017, respectively).
There are no dedicated ASICs available in the market till now for mining Ethereum. At the same time, since Ethereum intends to make a conscious switch from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake, purchasing an ASIC device may not be a smart choice at the moment. Under the POW network, miners essentially verify transactions on the Ether blockchain and are granted Ether as a reward. Under the POS system, this authentication method will be run by individuals who possess Ether in accord with the amount you own. It is unclear as to when the transition to the POS algorithm will take place. However, it seems like the inevitable culmination of the Ethereum platform. In case you have already bought a mining rig, you can mine other cryptocurrencies like Monero and Zcash with it.
Apart from being one of the most affordable GPUs available on the market today, it is also one of the most economical. While only consuming 150 watts of electric power, this CPU presents a hash rate of 25 MH/s.  When compared to Radeon R9 295X2 and Radeon R9 HD 7990, the cost of power for this GPU is relatively low, at only $0.4320. Its cost per MH/s is $7.96, which is quite impressive compared to most GPUs that are currently on the cryptocurrency market. The return per day for the Radeon RX 480 is $1.21, while its return per year is $440.91. On sale at Amazon now, you will have this GPU and begin mining Ethereum without many problems.
