Thanks to some great partnerships we have established with hardware producers, as well as to our large scale purchases, we get better mining prices on our employed technology. This means we buy the hardware cheaper than the market price. It is strange, yes. I thought that too. At some point I abandoned the Claymore and started WinMiner just to see in the command prompt that… its using Claymore 9.7 Beta. It connected and started mining from the WinMiner pools. In a few hours I tried again the newest Claymore and it connected to mine ETH.
Today I got a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290. They’re a beast of a card with 2 8-pin power connectors (won’t boot up with 6-pin), and it’s physically the biggest card I have. With the R9 290, I find I get ~5% better hashrate with Claymore instead of Genoil’s miner (with R9 380s, it’s almost identical). At the stock 1/1.3G clocks, I was getting 28.3Mhs, and OC to 1125 I’m getting 31.8Mhs. Only running for under 1hr at 1125, so can’t say if it is stable yet.
People need to remember they are mining ETH, not USD. If the market returns a decent price on that second step (i.e. the conversion to fiat), THAT measures profitability. The calculators can only measure the difficulty increases effectively (as they are approximately known) at a steady price.
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. The newer USB-style powered risers often include SATA-to-molex power adapters. Throw these adapters away! SATA plugs are not designed to deliver 75 watts safely, and these can get hot enough to potentially be a fire risk (admittedly, 99% of the time you’ll be fine, but it’s not worth the risk). Instead, connect the molex plugs on the riser directly to your PSU (no more than two risers per PSU plug). Newer versions of these USB risers forego the molex adapter and instead use a PCIe connector for power.
‘C:\Users\Username>’ the username placeholder is the name of your computer and is the usual display format by the command terminal. Locating Geth is the next step; type in ‘cd/’ into the command prompt terminal; this is an instruction to change directory. ‘C:\>’ should be highlighted now, which means you are currently in the C: drive.

I tried to ask this question on Bitcoin forum for Claytons mining software, but can’t figure out how to post the question in the right place. I have set everything up as you said and am mining Ether at 1600Mh/s, but I am apparently mining Decred as well at 1550Mh/s because the batch file from the Clayton miner has in the batch. I did a profitability calculation on Genesis mining DASH contract. It’s not profitable unless the mining difficulty decreases significantly. I believe there are many similarities with DASH and ETH in terms of their profitability. Here’s my foundings:
To start mining with your GPU, key in ‘ethminer –G’ followed by the enter key. This will initiate the mining process after building the DAG ((Directed Acyclic Graph), which is a large file stored in the RAM of your GPU for the purpose of making it ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) resistant. Ensure that there is sufficient space on your hard drive before getting to this point.
It’s finally time for an update to my popular 2013 Litecoin mining guide! It’s four years later, and Ethereum mining is where it’s at for GPU miners, so that’s what I’ve focused on. I’ve kept the same format and detail level as my old guide, so if you were around back you’ll know what to expect.
But even on the pragmatic side, cryptographic mining never made much sense to me. The profit margin is often so short-lived that by the time the average tech enthusiast hears about it, the bubble is ripe to burst. Even if the crypto currency du jour doesn’t go ASIC, the mining pool can get saturated, and anyone without a quad-GPU farm (or better) may as well be trying to get to the moon with a sliderule (wait, we did that . . .).
All the information on cryptocurrency transactions must be embedded in data blocks. Each block is linked internally to several other blocks. This creates the blockchain. These blocks must be analyzed as fast as possible to ensure a smooth running of transactions on the platform. However, the issuers of such currencies do not have the processing capabilities to handle this alone. It is where miners come in.

  1. Just, I disapoint my college when I started IT, as my college couldn’t have taught me well in my IT class, so I had not have gotten good time to collect the coins. However, I finally meet you. So, it is great. And a suggestion, I can’t find to buy more hashpower with my one account, therefore please make more oppertunites to buy hash power. 😉 Thank you so much for your emails.
