GeForce GTX 1070 (Founder’s Edition) is the “Pascal”-architecture GPU that people with limited (though still substantial) budgets have been waiting for. This card is based on the same chip as the big-gun flagship GeForce GTX 1080, but it was cut down a bit to make it more affordable.

Not sure how I’m kidding myself here, but you’re making the point for me. You don’t mine fiat, you mine cryptos to convert to USD at some point. You’re right to say that that point can be delayed into perpetuity. Over that time horizon, prices can go up, or go down, which determines how “profitable” it is to mine or not mine.
Does the mining process use much data bandwidth over an internet connection? If so, this would have to be added to the calculations in regions such as the outskirts of the Metro Detroit area where cable providers have no competition and have begun to implement data caps on cable internet.
I would also recommend you buy an SSD as it is a just little bit expensive than HDD. So, you don’t have to buy any 240 GB SSD or; higher 120GB is enough. The only things that will be going on the SSD will be OS, Drivers & mining software.
One can simply leverage a setup at home and start mining Ethereum by using GPUs. You can use the ASIC resistant Ethereum algorithm for mining Ethereum with dedicated processors. Since Ethereum hardware constitutes the most important mining component, it needs to be addressed with due diligence.
Even though currency mining seems to be an easy get rich quick scheme, it does not come without risk, the main risk being: fire. If you have a relatively large mining operation with poor cooling, and you’re using bad power supplies with multiple extensions cables going into one outlet, something could catch fire very easily, making not only your rig worthless, but most likely your house too. As long as you use parts from reliable companies, and keep your rigs cool and dust free, this shouldn’t be an issue. Another risk to watch out for is if you have young children or small animals. They could easily break your rig by accident, either by throwing something at it or giving it a static shock.
