The Customer represents and warrants to the Service Provider that he is familiar with mining, cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin) and that he understands the nature and uses of mining such cryptocurrencies. Never underestimate the power of the Radeon RX 400 series. The Radeon RX 480 is not only the cheapest GPU in this list, it is also easily the most economic GPU. This card has a hash rate of 25 MH/s while only drawing 150 W at max load. You’ll make over $700 USD annually per card! Comparitively to the RX 580, this card is an awesome Ethereum miner!
You’d need to look those numbers up. I’m only familiar with the 4GB model. The 2GB is probably significantly slower at solving crypto compared to the 4GB. It’s not so big that you shouldn’t be mining, but it is big enough to throw off your power cost calculations.
I would like to start mining Ether, but my GPU isn’t the greatest and I don’t really want to spend the money on a dedicated rig. Is mining from my CPU (in a Linux environment) still worth the Ether? Or will I not be able to keep up?
The value of Ether currently stands at around $950 and it is a more or less profitable venture for beginners as well as experienced miners. Ethereum also runs on a proof-of-protocol like Bitcoin and the following need to be taken into account when calculating the profitability of mining Ether.
“Hackers target 400,000 computers with mining malware”- I recently disabled my windows defender on one rig as it was causing issues. Is anyone using 3rd party antivirus/spyware software or windows defender?
Mining software: If you are going to have more than one rig, you could use some controlling software like Awesomeminer. If you don’t need it, then just install Claymore, following the instructions in paragraphs 1.4, 2, and 4.
One of a kind mining rigs with 7-inch touchscreen and user interface. Thanks to SharkOS you can control the power of mining rig with a touch of a button and see real-time parameters for fan speed, power and other. No need to control remotely or use external monitor, mouse, and keyboard!
And what energy efficient motherboard + cpu would you recommend for that case? I want to buy 2 RX 460s and maybe bump the watts to 300 I don’t mind as long as I can hash 22 MH/s on the same small machine.
The rest of the computer doesn’t matter much. In general, you want a case that can adequately cool either an RX 460 or RX 470 — but GPUs include their own cooling mechanism. The basic idea behind a case is that it shouldn’t impede the GPU’s ability to cool itself. Some people even choose to do open air builds. An extreme few daisy chain together multiple 470 GPUs on Ikea storage shelves!
I have finally decided to try to rent a hashpower through reputable company with positive reviews. The only contract available was Monero, which quite suited me. The web with configuration and Dashboard is quite intuitive. Mined balance is added on daily basis. The mined amount correspond with ordered hashpower. In fact it seems like the amount is a little big bigger that it should be according to the online calculators. So far, I have no experience with withdrawal, but this company is reputable, so I do not expect any difficulties.
The name of the chipset manufactured by AMD or Nvidia for each card remains the same (for example RX 480). You’ll notice that various models are available from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), which is a company that produces parts and equipment that may be marketed by another manufacturer. AMD Radeon graphics and AMD Wonder products are commonly licensed by OEMs and utilize AMD’s brand to market the product, so you might encounter the MSI Gaming Radeon RX 480.
While this GPU is not as powerful in terms of hash-power when compared to the aforementioned Radeon R9 295X2 and Radeon R9 HD 7990 processors, it is still very because of the fact that it is the most economic options for mining Ethereum. It comes with a slower hash-power of 25 MH/s but saves a lot when it comes to electricity.
Great this saves me a lot more time than actually going out and buying a graphics card and downloading geth and spending ages fiddling about with it all to get it up and running – and then maintaining it for upgrades.
Also I disagree that trusting the miners is foolish, yes 99% are in it for the profits but there is a balance between the difficulty, price, and gross hash power, and it seems to be working. Even if difficulty doubles (depending on your electricity) it still has a 12 to 18 month payback without price inflation.
If you’re reading a newbie’s guide to Ethereum mining and have a GPU powerful enough to make it worthwhile, we’re going to assume you’re running Windows so we’ll focus on mining Ethereum on that platform.
The rest of this guide focuses on the hardware side. For further help setting up an Ethereum wallet, join a pool, and use your miner. These steps are detailed in our beginner’s guide to mining Ethereum.
Yep your correct. If you really want a brain dead way of approaching this just use wolfram alpha and substitute hash with meters. wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1+Tm%2Fs+to+Gm%2Fs – boyfarrell Feb 1 ’14 at 6:17

Compare the above to my 2 x R9 390X GPUs mining rig. Hashrate is ~ 62.8 MH/s. Again from the mining calculator, my expected earning is 1.210311 ETH (USD 14.16) per day or 8.4722 (USD 99.12) per week. Mining rig consumes ~ 700 watts. This is equal to 700 x 24 = 16,800 watt-hours per day, or 16.8 kWh. 16.8 kWh x USD .17 per kWh = USD 2.85 per day in electricity.

  1. The Ethereum Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) file is stored in VRAM by miners. The DAG grows in size by remaining proportionate to the mining difficulty. About once every epoch (or 30,000 Ethereum blocks), a new DAG is generated, which must be downloaded in order to continue mining.
Genesis Mining is the only trustworthy, hassle-freeining company in the internet. Luckily, I joined 2 years ago and with bitcoin I got 1000% profit, and growing because of a lifetime contract. I hope to keep on investing with Genesis Mining for several years to come.
