Dual Power Supply Adapter: $20. Two adapters for one rig, $10 each. The ones we’ve chosen are with cables. You may also put in a paper clip – that’s free, or, if you use a powerful Chinese PSU (one for all your GPUs), you don’t need these adapters at all.
We recently explored the idea of building a mining rig at no cost, simply using older parts we had lying on the shelf. My colleague, Eric Vander Linden, cobbled together a competent mining rig with zero upfront costs. The “free miner” includes two R9 290X GPUs, which net roughly 57 MH/s. At the current difficulty rate, that rig should bring in a little more than half an Ether per month, which would be profitable as long as the price of Ethereum doesn’t dip below $100.
The Total Profits view predicts what your overall profitability will be in the future. This is calculated by taking your current profits and adding them to each following months profits while factoring in the changing difficulty (diff change), the diff change factor can be disabled. This view assumes the price of the coin will stay the same. If you wish to account for a changing price (ie if you think the price will rise in the future), switch to the “Coins Generated” view.
Click on “next” and you will be redirected to “configure instance details” to access advanced settings for your instance. We suggest leaving everything as is, unless you feel extremely comfortable in what you are doing. A particularly interesting feature is the “purchasing options”: if you click on “request spot instances” you can specify the bid parameters for purchasing the computational power needed to launch your instance. Don’t overlook this feature if you want to be in control of the instance costs. As Amazon suggests: you have the option to request Spot Instances and specify the maximum price you are willing to pay per instance hour. If you bid higher than the current Spot Price, your Spot Instance is launched and will be charged at the current Spot Price. Spot Prices often are significantly lower than On-Demand prices, so using Spot Instances for flexible, interruption-tolerant applications can lower your instance costs by up to 90%. Learn more about Spot Instances: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/console/ec2/spot-instances. We want to highligth this: IF YOU ARE INTERRUPTION-TOLERANT!
The tutorial is divided in two parts. In the first, we are going to create an Ubuntu Linux virtual machine on Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud); in the second part, we are going to install Ethereum C++ miner on Ubuntu.
The Bitcoin Gold GPU Miner 2000 H/s from Ethereumminer.eu  is a pre-built mining rig that offers the potential of a pretty excellent profit. While values may fluctuate, you could see this rig paying for itself after not long at all. Especially as it has recently had a price cut – something of a rarity with mining devices which usually see price rises! This rig can also be customised to suit your needs and budget.
According to this calculator, if you started mining in January 2018, a year and a half in (day 476) you would start losing money since your Ethereum mining rig would cost more to run than it would generate in profit (again, assuming a static price in Ethereum).
WARNING: DO NOT mine with laptops, laptops ARE NOT made to run at 100% load for prolonged periods of time. If you decide to mine on your laptop you can damage your laptop due to overheating, potentially causing your laptop to break and to cease functioning.
You would need a different motherboard that’s capable of supporting two different RX 460s. The software itself can run on two separate GPUs, so that’s definitely not an issue. The issue is that dual GPU motherboards can cost quite a bit of money compared to single slot boards.
Great this saves me a lot more time than actually going out and buying a graphics card and downloading geth and spending ages fiddling about it all to get it up and running – and then maintaining it for upgrades.
The Mist package contains the Ethereum wallet which you’ll need to receive any mining profits. Mist also includes an Ethereum browser with various functions, such as messaging and a social network and tutorials. As a tip, these tutorials and the social network are helpful learning resources. Don’t be scared to ask the Ethereals if you’re experience difficulty with any part of this process.
Cold Storage   This is the process of moving your bitcoins to an offline wallet. The benefit of this is that no one can hack into your computer and steal your private keys if your computer is not connected to a network. Bitcoins will need to be brought back out of cold storage to be spent or transferred again.
