You can donwload EthOs which is a specifically designed APP for Ethereum Mining – you can read more about this here but its a great way of having a bespoke mining system for your rigs and GPU’s to manage them!
For a prelude, back in December 2017, I decided to build up to 12 GPU mining rig, using kind of dollar cost averaging – installing a new graphics card once in a month. Now, about 30 days later I have a 3 graphics card mining rig, and I’m dual mining Ether and Siacoin, These 3 cards combined gives me about 41 MH/s hashing power – which translates into some $5-$6 per day (not counting in fee for electricity)
We decided to examin Bitcoin mining trends in 2016. According to hashrate distribution data released by Blockchain.info over the past 4 days starting March 29, 2016, the table below shows some popular bitcoin mining pools and their market share.
I have selected the BEST GPUs to mine that have a good mining hashrate and at the same time low watt consumption. This can be achieved only by modding the bios, changing the timings like 1500MHz clock speed is used at 1625, 1750 and 2000MHz and will result in higher transfer speed of data from and to the GPU. Check this tutorial for more details!
The estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings are based on a statistical calculation using the values entered and do not account for difficulty and exchange rate fluctuations, stale/reject/orphan rates, and a pool’s efficiency. If you are mining using a pool, the estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings can vary greatly depending on the pool’s efficiency, stale/reject/orphan rate, and fees. If you are mining solo, the estimated expected cryptocurrency earnings can vary greatly depending on your luck and stale/reject/orphan rate.
Another idea is to use my own laptop (toshiba R700), at night, using the same USB extenders but maybe the laptop power is not ready to supply the GPU. What is your opinion on this? In the case that it would be advisable to use laptop, would this interfere with my normal working or would it be advisable to let it work only when I am not using the laptop?
Technological advances have helped build high end computing platforms baked by dedicated graphic processors called as Graphic Processing Units or GPUs. These processors help reduce CPU loads by looking after all graphics related tasks.
The Radeon RX 470 was among one of the first graphic cards crafted specifically for the purpose of mining Ethereum. This graphic card is marginally different from the aforementioned RX 480. The biggest difference between the two being that the RX 480 was a gaming graphic card which became popular among cryptocurrency miners due to its powerful processing and good hash-rates. However, the RX 470 was specifically made for the miners.
Next select a motherboard for your mining rig. Boards support a variable number of graphics cards, and may only accept specific types of processors and memory. See the Details of each board to quickly identify proper pairings.
Selecting this option will show the Sell Monthly field below, this is where you input what portion of crypto you would like to sell each month. For example, if you plan to sell 25% of your new crypto, enter 25 into the Sell Monthly field. Your profits will equal (money earned from selling) + (unsold crypto * predicted price) – (total expenses + hardware costs)
3) Choose a memorable download folder for the “Ethereum Wallet” zip file. Extract it with a suitable file extraction tool, navigate to the new folder the extractor creates and then locate and run the Ethereum app.
Oh and one more thing: not all is bad for we PC gamers. Those of us who have previous generation GPUs have enjoyed watching the values of said cards go up. A friend of mine sold his 8GB RX 470 for $320 on eBay last month, or nearly $100 more than he paid for it. I sold my SLI pair of GTX 970s for $420 or about $120 more than they were worth combined a few months ago. We both upgraded to a GTX 1080Ti with the spoils.
The creator of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin, announced last year that the Ethereum network is going to switch from a proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake framework to confirm transactions. With a proof-of-stake system, holders of Ethereum stake coins by putting them up as collateral to validate transactions.
If you only want to use 3-4 GPUs in your rig, then you’ll have a much easier time. Most boards with up to four PCIe slots should accommodate a GPU in each. Keep in that you can use old hardware that you have sitting around—the board doesn’t have to be recent. I dug out an old ASRock 970 Extreme4 that I used four years ago for litecoin mining, and it still works fine today for up to 4 GPUs (5 is possible with some work). So it’s possible to pick up an ancient board on eBay/Craigslist for nearly nothing and mine with less than 6 video cards.
I have an old PC that doesn’t have PCIe slots but has 4 USB’s. I wonder what about if I use 4 PCI-E PCI Express X16 Extender and run the GPU’s from the USB ports. would it work? like this, I would need a smaller investment, just to start playing with it.
As the price of Ethereum hovers around $300, you may be wondering to yourself whether or not it’s worthwhile to begin mining. Like Bitcoin, Ethereum is a proof-of-work coin that uses miners to confirm network transactions. The profitability of mining varies from person to person and changes over time – usually becoming less profitable as the coin matures.
The processing power of the cards is added from the spreadsheet shared in the thread mentioned above. The consumption is taken from the same place or from and the price is manually taken from amazon and neweggs(depending where is cheaper, the links contains affiliate code).
“Thanks to CoinMiner I’m the proud owner of a 240Mh/s beast. It’s making money and a quick, secure return on investment with massive potential for increases. I love mining and am considering starting a mining farm.”
4) RAM – or Random Access Memory – this is a basic component in any computer is basically a scratchpad for jotting down calculations and recalling information quickly in a computer. 4GB should do the job.
For me, my aim was to find out more about the Ethereum network as I am a software developer and the possibility of programming smart contracts is like playing with a giant box of Lego Mindstorm, with unlimited pieces.
The power cost of this card is about $0.43 per day which is significantly lower than both the aforementioned Radeon R9 GPUs. Moreover, it requires a power consumption of just 150W – half that of the R9 7990. For this card, the cost per MH/s at $7.96. This GPU features an 8GB GDDR5 RAM.
i dont expect to get rich doing this, but Im also hoping to have at least 10+ rigs by this time next year. Im taking as aggressive of a reinvestment strategy as possible so that even after the PoS change occurs I can make money mining something else. I’m well aware of how unlikely it is that I’m going to survive in mining if I’m not proactive and operate at a large upfront loss, which is something I think a lot of people are certainly forgetting.
Eobot is the easiest, cheapest, and best way to mine ETH. You can mine and hash cryptocurrency with Cloud Mining, or you can use any CPU or GPU for any coin, SHA-256 or Scrypt, any computer, as many computers, and with immediate mining results.
I purchased 6 1070 FTW edition GPUs and they have two 8-pin power connectors each. Do I need to get more powers supplies to accommodate the extra 8-pin slot? Also, should I have connector branch from the power supply to both 8-pin slots or give each slot on the GPU its own connector to the power supply?
my point was, that if I really don’t make any income from mining (but my other work I do as a developer), I have this -1000€ still in my taxes (for hardware). so if I made 10.000€ (for simplicity) with my developer job and have to pay 20% taxes, I now only have to pay 20% of 9000€ (1800€) as before 2000€ for 10k. So my expense of 1000€ was in fact only 800€. and as i live in a country with high income taxes and social security, it’s not 20% but close to 50% 😉
I assume cards with 8+6pin would draw 150W+75W from the pcie cables so the powered riser may have less stress? But that would mean the riser needs its own power input cable which can be scarce depending on the PSU setup.
This list is now outdated since AMD released their new RX Vega line. They dominate the competition especially after tweaking. Check out newest review of the best GPUs for mining: https://cryptosrus.com/best-gpu-for-mining/
Great passive revenue stream with the flexibility to maximize the investment on a daily basis. Provides the ability to tune the dial on the dashboard for various crypto currencies to mine what is most profitable at the time.
