Every ten minutes or so mining computers collect a few hundred pending bitcoin transactions (a “block”) and turn them into a mathematical puzzle. The first miner to find the solution announces it to others on the network. I know there have been and maybe still are similar websites as this one. But i will be keeping this one up to date (+ it looks better as well ) and possibly connect it to software that will auto input the details in there directly from your mining rig (The idea is somewhat similar to the nice hash software, but with an option to post your config/card and or load a config) <-- still working on this idea with someone else. Eth mining is memory-bound, and needs high bandwidth, low latency VRAM. Integrated graphics using system memory as VRAM would likely perform very poorly. Also, you would need to allocate > 2GB of system RAM as VRAM, so the machines would probably need to have >4 GB of system memory.
I assume cards with 8+6pin would draw 150W+75W from the pcie cables so the powered riser may have less stress? But that would mean the riser needs its own power input cable which can be scarce depending on the PSU setup.
Difficulty   this is the measure of how hard it is to generate a new block in the blockchain. The difficulty is designed to adjust every 2,016 blocks (roughly 2 weeks) to balance out the rate at which blocks are created. The difficulty has an absolute minimum of 1, but not such limit exists for the maximum.
Ethereum intends to switch to a Proof of Stake scheme called Casper. Although this switch has been delayed, it’s reasonable to expect that it will occur in late 2018. Ethereum mining will no longer be possible after that, unless a hybrid Proof of Work/Proof of Stake model is implemented.

I’ve seen some data that say difficulty is currently increasing around 2.2% per day [6] so at the end of a 30-day period your yield per day is down to around 50% of what it was before and your total for the month is about 60% of what it would be if yield stayed constant.
Now you’re talking about difficulty increase of 100%, which with this rate is easily going to happen before summer, might even be by march. Hopefully price will increase as well, but at some point we’ll be seeing a saturated market (especially once ETH goes PoS), so your prediction here is that 12-18months payback period. While i’d not speculate more than 6-8 months in the future. Because we can’t possibly know what will happen once PoS happens.
Sounds good? Take a deep breath before hitting magical buy hash power button from HashFlare. There is a great chance of Ethereum mining network switching from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake, which puts a lot of miners in very uncertain future. Including me. Being tied to cloud mining contract you would be dependent on the mercy of cloud contract issuer, instead of having your own mining rig where you are in a full control and can switch to other profitable minable coins after a possible Ethereum POS.
How much hash rate increase do you think you can get by getting a 2nd stick of 2gb ram in there? And is it better for power to use a single 4gb stick or 2 x 2gb sticks? What would be the increase in hash rate with say 8 or 16gb?

Findind a solution is practically running brute force algorithm. The time to find a solution is hard to tell. In the same time blocks are having a predefined maximum size and by convention a blockchain needs to have an averate time interval at which blocks are closed. In order to do that from time to time a variable called difficulty is adjusted based on previous performance.
