You can say “Ciprian, could you at least throw in some estimates?” Yes, I could. However, the estimates would be less accurate than Ricky Rubio‘s three-point shots. Modern electronics market is a complete mess. You can buy a product for $ 100, then to see the same product on a different site for $ 50. Nowadays the demand for mining-compliant gear is so high that very often we have manufacturer shortages and high price fluctuations .
Kumamoto-Energy, a local power producer in Japan, has announced that they will use solar energy for mining cryptocurrencies. Japan Looks to Greener Energy Cryptocurrency mining farms are trying to reduce costs and consume as less energy as possible, but sometimes the task is very difficult. Japanese miners are trying to consume renewable energy make mining activities more sustainable in the long term. Saburo Takashashi, a security analyst at Kansai Electric Power, says: This is a time for
I have ETH contract with Genesis for 2 years and one with same Hash rate with a competitor but 1 year contract. Genesis has consistently paid out more than the competitor. Happy with Genesis contract. When I bought from competitor, all Genesis was sold out. I have bought again now that it is available.
Another idea is to use my own laptop (toshiba R700), at night, using the same USB extenders but maybe the laptop power is not ready to supply the GPU. What is your opinion on this? In the case that it would be advisable to use laptop, would this interfere with my normal working or would it be advisable to let it work only when I am not using the laptop?
Due to the massive demand for Ethereum mining rigs you’ll see cards sold out at most retailers (Nvidia has even put out a statement about it). If you’re willing to pay a premium you can find them at a higher cost but we recommend finding the cards for their retail price. The GeForce 1070 is easier to find from our research.
This local law shall impose a moratorium on applications or proceedings, or the issuance of approvals or permits for commercial cryptocurrency mining operations in the City of Plattsburgh. The hash rate of the RX 460 is reported to be around 11 mega-hashes per second (MHS). With a “peak” wattage consumption of 75 watts, that translates to 0.147 MHS/W. The 470 produces a hash rate of around 25 MHS with a power consumption of around 120 watts for 0.208 MHS/W. Of the two, the 470 offers better efficiency per watt. But the 460 is easier to deploy on low-cost, low-end systems. And the 470 costs a great deal more on secondary markets. More or less, the 470 is running for well over $350 on eBay, whereas you can still get a 460 for around $100.
It is strange, yes. I thought that too. At some point I abandoned the Claymore and started WinMiner just to see in the command prompt that… its using Claymore 9.7 Beta. It connected and started mining from the WinMiner pools. In a few hours I tried again the newest Claymore and it connected to mine ETH.
Being that new to BTC mining I can not say allot. yet from all the time and due diligence of reading reviews for the mining services. I am impressed with sources from CNN News and many the positive remarks from Redit and CoinDesk. best I can say is keep up the good works! I will be watching and thank you for the services. -BW-
This is really overpriced. Buy 4 7990 and get 200 MH/s for around 2600. MB, CPU, HD, PSU, riser cards and built an open air case for around $400. Then if it ever gets to the point mining isn’t profitable sell the cards etc. and save money and make more money than paying $4400 for 100 MH/s…
Hashflare offers 1 year Ether cloud mining contracts. No maintenance fee applies. Daily payouts in ETH. Remember that Genesis Mining offers 2 years Ethereum cloud mining contracts when you compare this operator.
The key to faster returns is minimizing initial costs. Unless you get someone to pay you to take GPUs off their hands, the best you can hope for is free. Much as we may wish it, merchants don’t give their merchandise away, and not everyone can expect to win raffles and prizes. But old components sitting on a shelf don’t cost anything. With a little luck (and apologies to Dire Straits), you can go mining for nothing, bits for free.
So right now (well one week ago when I originally wrote this) I can buy a 2 year 100 MH/s (mega-hashes per second) Ethereum mining contract from Genesis the cloud mining company for $2800 [1]. According to various profitability calculators that would currently yield around 1.5 ETH per month [2] which is 36 ETH over 2 years. However if today I took that $2800 I could only buy 7.8 ETH at $360.
While our introductory course was a basic overview that familiarized you to tools and resources in a broad sense, this course is much more concrete with walkthroughs, personal examples, and analysis. A real emphasis is put on tangible experiences based on over a decade of combined experience.
A: If you’ve got a suitable GPU with at least 3GB RAM, it’s a quick and painless matter of making some tweaks in Windows, installing the mining app then entering a few settings from your chosen pool’s website. Further details are available in the Getting Started with Mining section.
Also I disagree that trusting the miners is foolish, yes 99% are in it for the profits but there is a balance between the difficulty, price, and gross hash power, and it seems to be working. Even if difficulty doubles (depending on your electricity) it still has a 12 to 18 month payback without price inflation.
The computer industry’s use of kilobyte, megabyte, and gigabyte is inconsistent with the SI. The Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC) has redefined the prefixes kilo-, mega- and giga- in correspondence with bit and byte as powers of 1024 instead of 1000. Higher prefixes were not redefined by JEDEC.
Hello. I really like your project. I’m not quite a young man and it’s attitude carefully. But it seems to me that you are a team of professionals, and that you have no Ponzi scheme. I wish you success and look forward to long term cooperation. Sincerely, Sergey Tikhonov. ( ser2002den@ya.ru )
The most energy efficient GPUs around come from Nvidia. Unfortunately, Nvidia GPUs aren’t quite as good at solving cryptographic hashes as AMD hardware. More or less, if you want energy efficiency (without paying a fortune for a 1070 or 1080), your only option is an AMD graphics card. The most energy efficient of these is the AMD Radeon RX 460 or RX 470 (or the pricier RX 560 and RX 570). The RX 470 pulls around 145 watts, with the recommended power supply for it producing around 350 total watts. The RX 460 on the other hand, uses a total of 75 watts. That makes it easier to deploy on single-card mining rigs.
You say the Vega 64 does 41 MH/s on 135 watts – but 2 – GTX 1060s can do 46 MH/s on 140 watts and costs less…. so not sure about ‘dominating’ the competition. They are definitely a worthy option, especially if you have limited GPU slots on your motherboard.
Using below table, you can check how profitable it is to mine selected altcoins in comparison to ethereum. Please note that calculations are based on mean values, therefore your final results may vary. For best results fill all fields with your hash rate and power consumption. Input Groestl hash rate, not Myriad-Groestl. Default values are adapted for three 480 cards.
As we go into the beginning of January 2018, Ethereum’s difficulty is at lower-than-average levels considering trend we saw coming out of the summer, passing 3000T. And even with the current 1800T, we’re still at more than triple the 500T we saw at the beginning of June. That also compares to an average of around 350T for the month of May. Prices were also much lower then, however.
worst article ever, get your fact right, you state different speeds for the same card (RX vega 64) and clearly you dont have a clue, i mine with rx580 and my hashrate its 30 with bios mod and propper patched drivers for mining
with my rig, I invested 2500$ for 10x GTX 1060 and I’m making around 24$ / day with the current value of ETN. It took me 3 months to be break even so whatever you hear, yes it’s profitable but nobody know how long it is going to be profitable. Mining cryptocurrency is bet for the future.
Our Ethereum cloud mining farm, Enigma, is the largest Ethereum cryptocurrency mining farm in the world. We have continued to expand our Ethereum mining rigs and hardware to keep up with the growing demand. Based on desired ROI, you can choose how much hash power to have accessible during the two-year contract. State of the art GPU miners are maintained by our team of mining professionals, and you have the opportunity to invest in their work.
“Currently HashFlare is building a new datacenter to mine highly popular Ethereum. The Batch 1 of 50GH/s of Ethereum mining hardware has already been launched. In the beginning of April we will launch 100GH/s more. We have even had some pre-sale discounts and some of them are active even now. The minimal unit we offer is 100KH/s for the price of 4.25 USD. We are also preparing a release of new Scrypt hardware based on 28nm technology. Soon the information about the hardware will become public, stay tuned for the news!”
So suppose anyone does have some mainstream or high level card at least the level of HD5850, as an example, they’d still faced with power bill issue, which in some case outweigh the profit. As we all know how much of a sucker old gens are compared to what we have now. That is assuming they are somehow emotionally attached to it and not decided to sell it, even after buying later gen.
MinerGate allows users to mine coins through a smart-mining option (auto switches to most profitable coin) or choosing your favorite cryptocurrency manually. Merged-mining is available for FCN and MCN, allowing you to mine two currencies at once without the loss of hashrate for the main coin.
It’s been a while since we updated this series this past summer, but our answer for the “Is it worth it?” question has remained mostly the same. Ethereum saw increasing difficulty throughout the fall and little increase in price, which made mining steadily less and less attractive. But recently, Ethereum has boomed to be priced at around $700-$800, which has led to a resurgence in mining interest.
Exactly. Difficulty is goig up, price is going down, and to add more insult to injury the resale value is terrible. 6 months ago was a great time to get into mining, but today you might not even break even.
Congratulations! You are now the proud operator of your very own custom built 6 GPU ethereum mining rig. Be sure to also check out our reviews of the best Litecoin mining hardware and Bitcoin mining hardware.
The GTX 1070 is an amazing graphics card, where it’s only let down is it’s expensive price. However, this card achieves amazing hash rates on the ETHash and EquiHash algorithms, and draws a mere 150 Watts. My personal rig uses 4 GTX 1070’s, so I highly recommend these cards, especially if you can get them for a good price. This card is an excellent performer when it comes to gaming, so if you decide to sell your rig, you should be able to sell these cards for a great price. With 8 GBs of onboard VRAM, you will not have to worry about an increasing DAG file.
