I’ll continue to scour for deals and add a card or two here and there for the right price, but I won’t pay over $280 for a card unless it’s a 580 8gb or 1070+ in which I have no NVIDIA cards at the moment anyway, and even then I won’t go much higher or I’ll just pass up the deal and be happy where I’m at.
Profitability will be spread out some, but have faith and never overspend what you cant get back. We will provide a costing spreadsheet on our next episode drop, this will allow you to keep taps on B/E. Working on finishing the API calls for difficulty/pricing.
Ethereum can be mined by using GPUs as the same cannot be applicable in case of Bitcoin mining. Ethereum has an ASIC resistant algorithm that facilitates use of GPUs and dedicated processors resulting in a cost efficient and user-friendly mining process.
This article didn’t address the mining difficulty of Ethereum. At this point, is not a good idea to mine ethereum unless people have hash rates in the GH/s or at least MH/s. It’s better to mine other alt coins such as: XMR, LTC, and many others. Overstock.com will now accept 40+ different Altcoins as form of payment. Won’t be long before other companies do as well.
For example, if this were Jan 2016 and we were mining ETH, and spent $3000 for a rig and supplies that produced us (for academic purposes) 30 ETH through the end of the year. That $8.22 price on 12/31 means our mining got us $246. Not profitable; go back and look at the historical posts saying as much when people asked if mining was “worth it” and everyone said to not even try it. Those same 30 ETH are worth $7560 today (assumes not selling at the peak, not mining beyond 30 ETH). All of a sudden, it was retroactively “worth it” to mine, and those naysayers were wrong. All that happened was hodling.
If Windows is more to your liking, we’ve got a guide for you, too. Covers a complete installation from start to finish: BIOS settings, drivers, mining software, auto-startup, and more. Optional advanced sections cover basic overclocking, undervolting, and remote administration.
The same money I’ve put into GPU mining rig, if invested in Hasfhlare, would make a profit of $8.98 daily, $62.83 weekly, $269.29 monthly and $3,276.29 yearly.  Also, I would mine about 2.51 ETH after one year or operations.
Like with CPUs, you can reduce the voltage supplied to the GPU and decrease the power consumed and waste heat produced. Whether or not there’s a trade-off depends on the silicon lottery. Most discrete graphics cards can undervolt How Undervolting Decreases Heat & Increases Battery Life How Undervolting Decreases Heat & Increases Battery Life Would you believe that many computers and smartphones can run cooler and consume less power? A trick exists, called undervolting, which can increase your CPU’s efficiency with few drawbacks. If performed right, devices generally produce… Read More slightly without losing anything. However, a small number become unstable, even with a slight undervolt. You won’t know until you try.
However, my single most important piece of advice is to have fun, and to not panic when you have issues, setting up a mining rig and managing it can be very fun, and also very stressful when it’s not working. If you are having problems you should definitely contact the communities I listed above, as someone else is bound to have had the same issues as you and can help you out.
Zcash uses the equihash algorithm. Same as btc gold. I bought my contract to mine zcash, but I don’t think it is unreasonable that in a few month’s time, Genesis might make it possible to mine btc gold with it since it is the same algorithm. If not, Zcash will still be hot. It is a win win!
As you can monthly profits reduce by near 1/3 every month with estimated total profits plateauing at $2750 around 6 months. A far cry from the $10,000 I was predicted to make. Sadly, this is barely enough money to pay for the rig I built for mining!
My personal recommendation is to keep full control of your wallets and not in the exchanges since exchanges can be hacked and you run the risk of losing your coins forever. You should also keep your coins in an offline storage for maximum security. A useful multi-wallet application which I recommend is the Jaxx Blockchain Wallet. You can store many different types of coins here including popular ones such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. This wallet also gives you full control of your private keys in case you want to move your wallet out of Jaxx. The Jaxx wallet also has mobile apps which allows you to take your cryptos with you anywhere. Ledger Nano S is another useful multi-wallet, however it is a hardware wallet, so you will have to spend an extra portion of your budget on this. Though it does payoff with it’s increased security.
Just how profitable is it to mine Ethereum? To properly answer this question, let’s start at the beginning: Let’s construct a hypothetical mining rig, plug in some reasonable numbers, and come up with a pragmatic analysis of how much you can earn through Ethereum mining.
There are a few tools out there that will give you your exact solar insolation hours for your area. I’ll post a few links at the bottom of the post. When i designed systems at Affordable Solar Group here in Albuquerque, i would design the systems over the phone so i would use the customer/businesses zip code and basic roof information (really just the pitch of the roof or if it is a flat roof) and the following website:
I bought 2 year though not 1 year. It has been good but I did ask a question related to z cash but I found out the answer to it in the faq. Would have liked more clarity on the subject at least but I know Genesis is a solid company with a 4 year track record. So far the 75 hash that I have been getting because I bought it with bitcoins were good and stable as of the past two days.
Something I’ve done when building out a GPU mining farm, is to do the OS/DRIVERS/MINING setup and then just clone the solid state drive using a 2 bay hard drive dock with offline clone feature built in.

First Choice Nvidia GTX 1070 –   The very efficient Nvidia GTX 1070  can produce a hash rate of 30Mh/s using only 100 watts of electricity and is the best GPU for mining in 2018. It is much more power efficient than most of the AMD cards available on the market. My favorite model of this GPU is the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC (model # GV-N1070WF2OC-8GD). It has a twin fan design and seems to run cooler than some of the other 1070 models I’ve tested, so I put this card in all the rigs I build currently. If that specific model is unavailable, any of the twin fan overclocked Gigabyte or EVGA cards work great out of the box.  You can also check eBay or find other recommended mining GPU’s in my mining GPU comparison guide.
Another popular choice when it comes to Graphic Processing Units for mining Ethereum, the Radeon R9 HD 7990 used to be the biggest name till the R9 295X2 came along. This device is still in use by many users but the biggest drawback it offers is that it comes with a slightly higher price but offers a lower hash-power. Nevertheless, the R9 HD 7990 is still one of the best GPUs to mine Ethereum.
The Mining Power is the number of hashes of the Mining Algorithm that the rented hardware can process per second. For Ethash the number also depends on a variable factor, the DAG size, thus the number of performed hashes may vary over time.
“When you compare cloud and private mining you will see that cloud mining has its unbeatable benefits, such as no power limitation. You would probably not get more than 6 kWt at your living place, while having a semi-professional “farm” is pretty risky due to high fire- and overall security reasons. In our case we use specialized datacenters which are equipped with everything necessary for convenient and risk-free mining.”
