Listed below are the components along with the amount you will need to assemble your GPU mining rig. Once your components arrive, you will want to come back to this guide for assembly and configuration instructions. I’ve included a YouTube video further down the page with complete assembly instructions as well.
Which model to pick, though? While literally any RX 570/580 card will do, the most important thing to look for is memory speed if you want the best performance. Cards with a higher memory clock speed will generally perform a bit better while mining ETH (and can generally be overclocked more). Memory capacity isn’t really important beyond 4GB, so all other things being equal, there is no reason to shell out extra cash for the 8GB version of a card. It’s true that every GPU needs to be able to hold Ethereum’s DAG file in memory, and that file is slowly increasing in size—but it won’t surpass 4GB until late 2019 (and ETH’s switch to PoS will likely occur before then, anyway).
Bitcoin cloud mining is another option. Ideally, we would want to diversify by mining bitcoin in addition to ethereum, not to mention adding even more crypto currencies to the mix, and fully reaping the benefits of a broader diversification.
Note, when downloading the Claymore Miner Windows may provide a warning, but if you used Claymore’s download link can you ignore this.  He is a well-respected developer who has been building crypto miners for many years.
3) Choose a memorable download folder for the “Ethereum Wallet” zip file. Extract it with a suitable file extraction tool, navigate to the new folder the extractor creates and then locate and run Ethereum app.
Some settings should be modified in Windows to get you ready for mining.  First, you don’t want your computer to go to Sleep as it will interrupt your mining so go into your Power Settings and set it to “Never” turn off/sleep.
R9 390(X) can boast a pretty good performance and achieves a hashrate similar to the GTX 1079 Ti and 1080 models. However, the price is far lower than theirs and R9 390(X) also has lower power consumption.
The computer industry’s use of kilobyte, megabyte, and gigabyte is inconsistent with the SI. The Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC) has redefined the prefixes kilo-, mega- and giga- in correspondence with bit and byte as powers of 1024 instead of 1000. Higher prefixes were not redefined by JEDEC.
Considering that ethereum cloud mining is a service created from an almost purely business standpoint, there is understandably, a cost associated with its appliance. Lower returns are expected because of the involvement of a third party. However, for standalone mining, a more comprehensive mining rig and configuration is needed, and this calls for a substantial upfront financial expenditure.
If Windows is more to your liking, we’ve got a guide for you, too. Covers a complete installation from start to finish: BIOS settings, drivers, mining software, auto-startup, and more. Optional advanced sections cover basic overclocking, undervolting, and remote administration.
The PandaMiner B5 Plus is a brilliantly put together miner that’s compact and attractive, while also being excellent at making profits when mining for cryptocurrencies. However, it is very expensive, and due to its popularity it can often be sold out. Luckily Pandaminer has a number of different models to choose from.
Mining software: If you are going to have more than one rig, you could use some controlling software like Awesomeminer. If you don’t need it, then just install Claymore, following the instructions in paragraphs 1.4, 2, and 4.
Hello, first, thank you for the tutorial, miner appears to be functioning. Hoever, it’s not working properly on my machine. I keep getting a Watchdog Error: must restart GPU. Please help me sort this error out. Thanks.
Your hashrate may increase from 10% to over 31 MH/s by boosting the stock speed via an overclocking utility, such as Afterburner, which is the world’s most recognized and widely used graphics card overclocking utility which gives you full control of your graphics cards.
The initial price you pay for a card will determine how long it takes for your card to pay for itself, based on your mining profits (Some people think if it takes longer than 4 months for the card to pay itself it’s a waste of time. However, I would disagree and I think that Getting ROI=1 after one year is still incredible). Return on investment (ROI) measures the gain or loss generated on an investment relative to the amount of money invested – Coins earned minus electrical costs and other costs. Prices are based on the current Amazon prices at the time of writing, so they should be considered rough indications.
To get started you will need to obtain a mining wallet to collect your digital currency, mining software, and of course your trusty PC equipped with a worthy “miner” or GPU, or better yet multiple GPUs. NiceHash is a simple software package that will get you up and running, but there are a myriad of mining app choices and wallet types out there to choose from, with lots of guides on the net to educate yourself. We’re going to be focusing on the hardware and mining performance side of things in this piece, however.
Currently you need to allow ‘access control expose headers’ if you don’t in your browser. The Etherchain API does not have the headers for this loaded in, so I couldn’t get cross domain requests to work, they kept getting rejected for “No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource” if anybody has any ideas. Anyways, if the calc doesn’t load for you, you can install that CORS plugin and it will work. Hope to have that resolved soon.

Ethereum is one of the fastest growing cryptocurrencies next to Bitcoin, the native digital currency which has been taking the world by storm. Just a year and half ago, the price of Ethereum was $1, now it is well over $300 with an all-time high of over $400. The rapid growth of Ethereum mining excited investors who were eager not to miss out on another hyper-growth investment opportunity.

It has become the new standard in Ethereum mining and with the huge price explosion the demand for these cards have far outpaced supply and created an extreme GPU shortage, resulting in much higher GPU prices.  That said, if you shop carefully, set up auto-notifications/alerts and have a little luck you can get some of the AMD RX series cards.
So let’s say your rig costs $1400, your power costs $100/month and over six months that is $2000. You could either buy about 6 ETH now or hope that the 6–month yield is more than that. Supposing the yield declines by 1/3 per month. So that’s about 1.5 + 1.0 + 0.666 + 0.444 + 0.3 + 0.2 = 4.4. At that time you’re already yielding less than the cost of electricity per month unless ETH is over $500.
Here you can ask the community questions about your mining setup, and about any issues you may be having. Though r/EtherMining is focused on mining Ethereum, they will be happy to help you with general mining questions. The Ethereum Stack Exchange community is another useful one where you can find out about graphics card hashrates as well as ask questions. You can also ask about general Ethereum questions here.
Just, I disapoint my college when I started IT, as my college couldn’t have taught me well in my IT class, so I had not have gotten good time to collect the coins. However, I finally meet you. So, it is great. And a suggestion, I can’t find to buy more hashpower with my one account, therefore please make more oppertunites to buy hash power. 😉 Thank you so much for your emails. Good job guys.
Pool Mining – This is where you team up with other miners to reduce the volatility of your returns. This means whether you get 5 ethere every 5 days or 1 ether every day. The advantage of this is you get a continuous stream of ether and you don’t have to download the entire blockchain. Check out our guide on how to mine ethereum as part of a pool here.
My single most important piece of advice to miners is to make sure you have a near 100% uptime, because if your miner shuts down while you at school, work, overnight, or while you’re on holiday you will lose out on gaining a large portion of your profits. One of the easiest ways to secure your stability is to have safe overclocks, and by testing your rigs. Instability can often be caused by too high of an overclock, or by faulty risers. I also highly recommend the EthOS Linux Distro. EthOS is an operating system specifically made for mining Ethereum and other cryptos alike, such as ZCash, Monero, and many more. The OS is extremely stable and if your rig crashes, the OS will boot up and start mining straight away. The OS also supports up to 16 AMD or NVidia graphics card, which is a huge step up from Windows, which supports a maximum of 8.
Genesis Mining is the largest and most trusted Bitcoin cloud mining provider in the world, now also running Ethereum mining plans. They provide all the information about their services, they are actively involved in the community and they even have a live stream of their mining farms. If you sign up through this link, you will get a discount on existing Ethereum mining prices. 3% discount code: zKcyxP
Right now it is quite profitable, but it is better to see the historical comparison between prices and the difficulty. Also take in mind that the cards doesn’t last forever – not that they will brake down but eventually new cards with better hashrate per watt are appearing. So, I would say that we are looking at about taking back the price of hardware in the first year and then start taking profit which will gradually slow down. So if you invest X money in 2-3 years you will make back double the initial investment.
Cloud mining is very profitable and i highly suggest it everyone doing so. I do cloud investing since 1 1/2 years now, on many platforms. Mainly I use Hash Flare because it has given me the greatest returns for my deposits. On my 2 Bitcoin investment I get roughly about 0.4 BTC/month and I don’t have to hold onto them forever like on many other platforms! I choose the standard duration of 1 year and I get the results directly into my wallet!
The creator of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin, announced last year that the Ethereum network is going to switch from a proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake framework to confirm transactions. With a proof-of-stake system, holders of Ethereum stake coins by putting them up as collateral to validate transactions.
The conversion process isn’t completely straightforward, though. In the case of hardware miners, you can work out the monthly running cost by multiplying your electricity charge (ie: $ per KWh) by the power consumption of the unit and by a conversion factor of 0.744 (the ratio of seconds per month to joules of energy per KWh).
With a Cloud Service background of more than 25 years, we have developed our own server configuration for every mining project (ETH, BTC etc) and are building miners with components purchased directly from the manufacturers (GPUs from AMD, NVIDIA etc) at large quantities for better pricing. We have optimized the build time by standardizing the configuration and the software delivery system.
The My Crypto Buddy calculator is another useful calculator which has the option to include difficulty into the calculations. This means that it decreases your mining profit each month depending on how much the site estimates that the network’s difficulty will go up or down. For example, if the difficulty goes up by 100 GH/s in one month, the calculator will then assume that every following month will incur a difficulty increase of the same amount. This leads to a problem. If in one month the network receives an abnormal  difficulty bump, whether due to a price increase of the currency leading other miners to join the network, or if AMD or NVidia release a new graphics card with a big hash rate boost, the MCB calculator will then use that abnormal value as the absolute value for every month, making the calculator unreliable. Though it is still useful to know that your mining income will decrease every month due to difficulty. This calculator also includes the mining pool fee.
There is also work being done on Ethereum, which may move it from a “proof of work” to a “proof of stake” set-up. If this happens, it will result in an exponential rise in block difficulty that will make blocks virtually impossible to solve.
