I can understand you not wanting a ton of scrypt coin mining rigs turned to Ethereum right away, but also consider that a big reason Scrypt took off was it gave former Bitcoin miners a new platform for their hardware after ASIC made GPU mining basically impossible. The same thing could be happening to scrypt soon, with a number of ASIC miners having been announced now.
It is possible that the Ethereum Platform will not be used by a large number of external businesses, individuals, and other organizations and that there will be limited public interest in the creation and development of distributed applications. Such a lack of interest could impact the development of the Ethereum Platform and potential uses of ETH. It cannot predict the success of its own development efforts or the efforts of other third parties.

NANOPOOL – I use this pool to mine ethereum, and to monitor my rigs. At the part of -ewall after your ethereum adress you can put    “yourEthWallet.yourRigName/yourReportingEmailAddress” . That way nanopool will send you a email if one of your rigs goes offline. Also at nanopool website you can check your current hashrate of your rigs. If you see one rig reporting lower hashrate than it should you know something is wrong. Nanopool works very well as a monitoring tool.
