What dorm miners don’t pay for in electricity, they pay for in discomfort. Even without the radiator running in the middle of a Boston winter, the temperature in Mark’s room is well above desirable. His rig is “essentially a 2,000-watt heater running at all times,” Mark says. “All chocolate I accidentally leave here melts, but it’s not horribly uncomfortable.” This is even after he moved his two most efficient mining rigs to his girlfriend’s room three floors below because the heat in the summer was unbearable.
While I am mining in a pool _nanopool) can I set my address to be my paper wallet; such as myetherwall.com? Will my Eth be deposited to that address and be available? Also I have 2 r9 280x’s and 1 r9 290 gpu, can I just pop those all into one mobo and mine with them even though they will not all have pcie 16x slots?
I notice in my trading a lot of trends. One is that whatever ethereum does, ethereum classic tends to lag, but eventually follow a similar percentage increase/decrease pattern. So, I sold half of my tradeable ethereum (yes, there is ethereum that will not be traded for a while) and bought into Ethereum Classic, Library Credits and TRST.
Cryptocurrency traders have become accustomed to their prices violently whipsawing up and down in waves — a 30% drop in the Bitcoin price in May preceded its recent peak by about two weeks — but the current downdraft appears more sustained. Though the cryptocurrencies, rooted in a technology system known as the blockchain, have each since recovered some of their losses, they have yet to come anywhere close to their highs.
As more miners join the Ethereum network, the harder it becomes to solve the problem, which leads to an increase in the mining difficulty. This is why it’s currently costly to mine Ethereum. The returns are very low and equipment is still pretty expensive. However, as Ethereum price continues to rise, it could become worthwhile in the future.
For proper mining, separate hardware needs to be dedicated to integrating higher hash rate GPU’s. On top of the list best performance, video are of AMD and NVIDIA GEFORCE. The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 gives the performance of 57.6 MH/s but the power it consumes is a lot and care need to be taken in that way. AMD Radeon RX 480 and Radeon RX 580 are best value performers with 25-27 MH/s and power usage can be reduced using some tweaks.
I really hate how Aether decided they will be a closed mod. I will never play it no matter how good it become. For me the point is to have a customizable game that I decide what content and rules I want, not someone else decide it for me.
1x Solid StateDrive (SSD) — What’s the best hard drive/SSD for mining Ethereum? You probably want to get a solid state drive of course (it will save you on energy and would be one less failure point for a rig that’s going to be running 24/7). A 120GB SSD will do just fine from just about any brand.

Horses wearing horse armor don’t seem to shadow properly. They remain fully-shadowed, even when in broad daylight. Other then that bug, this shader’s water is the best I’ve seen in all of the shader mods. I get a steady 30 FPS with a few bells and whistles turned on with a GTX760. Thing is, it’s a buttery-smooth 30 FPS, so I don’t mind it so much. Looking at the shader code itself, there seems to be a lot of redundant code that could get pre-calculated into a variable then the var’s value used instead of constantly re-calculating the same thing over and over. eg: the code will have “value 1 * this * that” then next line have “value 2 * this * that” … if you just pre-calc “this * that” together, then you do that once and then use the pre-calc’ed value for the future calculations. There’s quite a few spots like this where it seems to code could be tweaked to save cycles. Also, there’s quite a bit of if/else branching, and genrerally GPU’s don’t handle branching very well. The shader coding itself is pretty brilliant, but I’m wondering if cleaning up and optimizing the GLSL code would squeak out a few more FPS. Other then that, once you use SEUS, you’re pretty much spoiled for any other shader mod. I tried almost all of the others. A few got me a buttery smooth 60FPS, but very bare-bones, and usually there was something that just annoyed me (normally how the water was done). SEUS does so much stuff right…. and the water … very very nice.
Good article but only half written. It does a great job explaining the key inputs into the analysis of profitability but it did not actually follow through with any such analysis! It just says at the end “yes it’s profitable but switch to monero after PoS” with no basis to justify the claims of profitability.
Install your GPU Drivers like you normally would (Next, next, Ok, etc.) and reboot.  Afterward, you know your GPU’s are recognized correctly if you go into Device Manager (search in Windows search bar) and you don’t see any warning marks on your GPU’s and it shows them correctly like this:
Thanks! I just added auto-populating the difficulty and released it as v1.1.9 (download link is at bottom of page if you prefer installing on your own server). I did some googling and found etherscan.io has an API, so I was able to hook this in pretty quick / easy.
Second only to Bitcoins, Ethereum and Ether are among the hottest digital assets today when it comes to the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain based technologies. Mining for Ethereum is much easier compared to mining for Bitcoins simply because of the fact that it is possible to do so even at a home setup without having to invest much.
There are many miners who are doing mining rig using cheap electricity due to geographical advantage like in China, Iceland etc. Using this with an efficient number of GPU’s increases the chances of mining ether faster and more in number. However, as more common people are getting into this network, time to mine per ether has increased vastly and thus, profitability depends on numerous factors.
I’ll continue to scour for deals and add a card or two here and there for the right price, but I won’t pay over $280 for a card unless it’s a 580 8gb or 1070+ in which I have no NVIDIA cards at the moment anyway, and even then I won’t go much higher or I’ll just pass up the deal and be happy where I’m at.
To create an Aether portal, make a base of 4 blocks side by side (or 2, if you leave out the corners). On the edge of both, stack up four glowstone, then close your rectangle. Finally, pour water inside it.
ZCash is an anonymous cryptocurrency that uses zk-snarks to ensure that all the information regarding user transactions is safely encrypted, while still verifiable by miners that can ensure no double-spending has taken place using zero knowledge proofs.
My friends and i mine Ethereum with our rig as well. My friend ran the calculations on a lot of different currencies and he agrees with you that ETH is the best one. I liked your post, gonna follow you now 🙂
On Dec. 6 last year, for example, hackers penetrated NiceHash, the platform that introduced Mark to mining, and whisked away 4,736.42 bitcoin, worth more than $60 million based on the day-of price. Mark had returned to NiceHash after mining ether, but fortunately only lost roughly $300 of unpaid bitcoin. He immediately switched to using a different cryptomining marketplace. NiceHash froze its operations for two weeks.
Secondly, I am not getting into the security issues (and there are a few) on properly storing your private encryption keys for your digital wallet and how to properly and securely transfer your digital currency from banks or websites. My suggestion to you is to read everything before starting anything. Although I am not suggesting the following are the best or most reputable repositories of information, you can get started into your gathering of knowledge from sites such as 99bitcoins, buybitcoinworldwide, and MyEtherWallet.
As my title says, I am a complete newbie to the Ethereum Project, but not to the cryptography in general. Although this will be the first time I will consider investing in the mining process. And I just would like to know, what is the best current hardware is out there for mining, and where best to find available in stock to ship.
The good news is that getting started with Ethereum Mining is now easier than ever.  You do not need to download the full Ethereum blockchain, which is now over 20+ GB’s and still growing!  You also do not need to manage clunky command line miners with manual instructions.
