With their fast GDDR5, GDDR5X, and HBM, graphics cards are perfectly suited to mine Ethereum.

This point can also be addressed in two ways: empirically and theoretically. This guide is focused on the Ethash algorithm mining, so the settings and the tutorials from this guide are not optimized for the other mining algorithms like CryptoNight. For this I plan to make another guide or expand this one so that you will understand how to optimize your GPU’s for the other algorithms.

Genoil is a continually developing and very optimized miner for Ethereum. It runs smoothly, and you can get up and running with it very quickly. Personally, I’ve had a few issues with DAG generation, but a few tweaks quickly solved this. If you’re only planning on mining Ethereum, then Ethminer by Genoil is a strong contender.
I have a 1080ti and would like to pick up some extra cash by mining, but I don’t want to degrade it’s life. I just got it a month ago and it is supposed to last me several years. How can I pick up some extra cash without it costing me another gpu?
I tried swapping the risers, the issue persist even switching the entire GPU with GPU’s/risers that are know to work. Are you on reddit? I have a thread going with much more details if you want to check it out. Don’t want to draw visitors from this site but it’s not the best for ongoing discussion.

Whatever the hardware, whatever the GPU : it will heat anyway, a lot. The processing units will be at almost 100% of charge 24/7, so a good cooling is needed. For example, a controlled and well dissipated GPU will – at least – end up with 170 ºF (75 C°). A desktop computer case ? No way. all about airflow. You can add box fans if you want.
If you’ve looked into ASIC miners, you probably know how Bitcoin is mined and the general idea behind it. It can be a very lucrative practice if you know how to do it right and do it safely. Panda is comprised of a handful of video cards stuffed into a shiny box and sold as a miner. Nothing to do with ASIC’s. To design and tape out ASIC’s costs multiple millions and time to do so vs. ever increasing difficulty of any coin’s life. In other words it’s a race. Possible part of the ethereum troll coin scam would be to make it worthwhile for an insider there to waste the money to develop an ASIC but as of now it is quite clear none of the gang have the wherewithal. After you have installed the driver restart your PC. If you’ve  already modified your GPU’s before, there might be a possibility that you won’t be able to see them anymore. That is most likely a problem with the RX 570 series and it’s very rare with some RX 580 models. The problem comes from the bios mod, because it changes how the GPU’s work and you  will need to Patch your drivers to make them work properly or  the driver will just end up disabling  or hiding the GPU’s (Error 43). This is only needed if you can’t see your bios’ modified GPU’s in the Windows Device Manager. Download the Pixel Clock Patcher. Run the program, it should give you a message that the values were patched. After that restart your PC and you should have proper working modified GPU’s.
As most altcoin algorithms are memory heavy, ASICs would not be faster then GPUs as memory speed would bottleneck device as ASICs and GPUs use same memory. Only gain from ASICs would be fact, that they would be more power efficient, but impact on mining would not be as near as close as it was when BTC went from GPUs to ASICs when we say massive increase in performance and massive drop on power usage at same time. And that is biggest reason why there are non and most likely wont be one in near future.
