A Compatible Hardware: It is important to remember that to turn your computer into an ETH miner means that you will put more stress on it than a normal user, for this you need your system to run smoothly so at least 3GB RAM is required for a proper mining experience. As for the CPU, you don’t need the best out there (a simple CPU will do), but don’t be cheap.
Started a few days ago with ethermine, it’s pretty good. I do get the correct hash rate and you can monitor it while away from the computer. In terms of mining app, I use claymore since it’s the only one that worked with my R9 390

One other oft-mentioned number statistic for an ASIC chip is the number of cores or hashing engines that are on the chip. While this number is directly related to performance, it is not necessarily a comparitive relation.
There is a fourth possibility; which is that I missed the AMD driver update which fixed the speed problems for RX cards. I will do some more research and update the article. Thanks for pointing out the error though.
After you calculate the amount of kWh you will be using every month, multiply the kWh per month by the amount you pay for electricity in your country, and then you will find out the cost. Take your monthly power cost away from the value of the amount of the currency you mine to find your monthly profits. Though most mining include this calculation for you, it can be very useful to find the exact amount you will be spending on power.
Thanks to both of you, I have checked my worker stats and I am mining at around 16.5~MHs, I have a GTX970, I think this hashrate is roughly whats expected of it. One thing that I do not have is an 0x (to signify a hexadecimal number) before my address, is this something I need? I havent had any payouts yet, but I think dwarfpool pays out at 1 Ether anyway
F2pool is also among the major ethereum mining pool which also offers the mining of Bitcoin. However, the main shortcoming of this miner is that their ether mining site is limited to a few countries only. The pool charges a fee of 3% per share.
Compare the above to my 2 x R9 390X GPUs mining rig. Hashrate is ~ 62.8 MH/s. Again from the mining calculator, my expected earning is 1.210311 ETH (USD 14.16) per day or 8.4722 (USD 99.12) per week. Mining rig consumes ~ 700 watts. This is equal to 700 x 24 = 16,800 watt-hours per day, or 16.8 kWh. 16.8 kWh x USD .17 per kWh = USD 2.85 per day in electricity.
