AMD and Nvidia are the two biggest manufacturers of graphics card unit (GPU). In the early days of GPU mining, AMD cards were much more efficient for cryptocurrency mining than Nvidia cards and they were the go-to option for dedicated miners. More recent Nvidia cards are designed to work in optimized fashion and they match or even exceed the performance of AMD cards.
R9 390(X) can boast a pretty good performance and achieves a hashrate similar to the GTX 1079 Ti and 1080 models. However, the price is far lower than theirs and R9 390(X) also has lower power consumption.
Thanks to both of you, I have checked my worker stats and I am mining at around 16.5~MHs, I have a GTX970, I think this hashrate is roughly whats expected of it. One thing that I do not have is an 0x (to signify a hexadecimal number) before my address, is this something I need? I havent had any payouts yet, but I think dwarfpool pays out at 1 Ether anyway
Also apart from Ethereum mining hardware and Mining pool account, you will also need a software. The mining software will help you to mine Ethereum using your CPU power apart from these things you will need an Ethereum wallet to hold the Ethereums that you will mine.
Is Ethereum mining profitable? This is one of the most asked questions about ethereum mining. The response is not so simple and clear because not all the parameters can be anticipated. Profitability depends on the hashrate and on the price of hardware and electricity but also on Eth price and on the how many other people are mining in the network. While most of the parametes are steady the last 2 are can change from on day to another.
Selling Profile tells the calculator how to use the Price Change value. Price Change must be set to something other than 0 to have any effect on the profitability projections. Selling Profile has 4 different options:
Currently (November 2017) the two best mining groups of Ethereum are: Ethpool(http://ethpool.org) and Ethermine (https://ethermine.org). Together they have more than 27% of the hashrate of the network.
Below, we rank our favorite AMD cards for Ethereum mining according to the overall value for the money. Note that the mining performance of the Polaris architecture is common to AMD’s venerable RX range, and it is rapidly degrading with each new epoch.
Step 15 CPU mining: Type in ethminer and press “enter” and you will start mining with your CPU. Again you will need to create a DAG file the first time you do this which can take some time. But after that is complete your Geth program downloaded in step 1 should start talking to your ethminer program and you should start mining!
The good news is that getting started with Ethereum Mining is now easier than ever.  You do not need to download the full Ethereum blockchain, which is now over 20+ GB’s and still growing!  You also do not need to manage clunky command line miners with manual instructions.
When reading the specifications for ASICs on this page is that they should be interpreted as being indicative, rather than authoritative. Many of the figures will have come from the manufacturers, who will present their technology in the best light – be that high hash rates that in practice may not be very efficient and require additional cooling, or very high efficiency at a cost of hash rate and risking being slow in the race against difficulty adjustments.
Start out small. I don’t recommend starting out by buying hundreds of graphics cards and miners, especially if you have no previous experience with mining. If you start out small you can easily upgrade in the future by either adding rigs to your farm, or by adding graphics cards to your rigs.
MyEtherWallet is an open-source client-side Ether wallet running on Javascript. MyEtherWallet makes it easy to create secure wallets without the command line or the need to run an Ethereum client on your computer. By running MyEtherWallet on an offline computer, you can create secure paper wallets for your ether holdings.
It doesn’t matter if you’re planning to do mining using Linux, ethOS or Windows. I’ve made sure to cover the steps for each. You will also find some great tips, tricks, optimizations, and solutions to common troubleshooting issues.
Etherem mining uses hard hashing techniques to mine the blocks, so a computer with a good or decent GPU and a good amount of graphics card is required. GPU can prove to be a good deal for Ethereum miners. GPU mining is energy-efficient and we do not have to worry about the systems storage.
Ethereum Mining can be done in the comfort of your home. It requires script writing and some knowledge of the command prompt. It is quite easy and exciting once the process is broken down into manageable steps.
When choosing a mining pool, it’s important to join one with low fees that brings reliable returns. You should also consider the server location of the pool when deciding which is best for you. The closer your mining rig is to the server, the more efficiently it can mine.
Though this guide is mainly focused on the Proof of Work (PoW) side of mining, you should be wary of Proof of Stake (PoS), as Ethereum will be swapping over to this method in the near future. The difference between PoW and PoS is that PoS does not require graphics cards, nor does it require a very powerful system at all. PoS relies on you “staking” your coins to the network; the more coins you stake, the higher chance you get of receiving the transaction fees of other Ether investors. Another benefit of PoS is that the computers are not very expensive, nor do they draw lots of power, making PoS a far greener alternative to PoW. There are also no block rewards in PoS, thereby making the transaction fees the only reward.
This is outsourcing the mining. Cloud mining companies will charge you a fee, usually for a fixed-term contract. A short contract might be one year.Cloud mining is profitable because the GPUs are bought in bulk, hence at discounts.
If you mine in a pool, you’ll pay a fee to belong as well as a payout fee charged on each payment sent to you. Pools don’t charge the same rates though the variation is low. These fees are another value you will subtract from your income. If you outsource, your contract states the amount of a year’s subscription to the cloud mining entity.
Linux might be able to better handle massive mining rigs with many GPUs, but for 1-2 (or possibly more) cards, you’ll probably see very little difference in mining rate, so what your comfortable with plays a larger role.

Both Nanopool and Ethermine can run different software to hash for Ethereum. I recommend running Claymore Dual Miner which allows you to hash for both Ethereum, as well as an alternative currency. This is because Ethereum heavily relies on memory usage while the core processor sits idle. While dual mining, the memory of your video card will hash for Ethereum, and the core processor will hash for Decred or Siacoin as an example.
The initial price you pay for a card will determine how long it takes for your card to pay for itself, based on your mining profits (Some people think if it takes longer than 4 months for the card to pay itself it’s a waste of time. However, I would disagree and I think that Getting ROI=1 after one year is still incredible). Return on investment (ROI) measures the gain or loss generated on an investment relative to the amount of money invested – Coins earned minus electrical costs and other costs. Prices are based on the current Amazon prices at the time of writing, so they should be considered rough indications.
There are only very limited members in ETH pool and what was your payout in ETH in 2 months? Bigger pools like nano can be calculated very straight Forward but how about small pools like poolmining.org?
The results for my investments are great. Below you can find a list of it. They have 3–4 different contracts you can choose from right now. You can look at the page of this trader for example. If you were in any year avg:
A: 99.9% of Cloud Mining sites are Ponzi schemes or fractional reserve Ponzi’s.  Even though there are a few that have been around a long time, there have been no 3rd party audits of the hashing power sold and profits are usually very low unless you are promoting heavily and getting others to join in (another red flag of ponzi related activity).  Short Answer – Our advice is DO NOT buy into Ethereum Cloud Mining sites or related Deposit Investment/HYIP programs.
Besides Ethereum mining pool and Ethereum mining hardware, you will need high-quality Ethereum mining software and a reliable Ethereum wallet. I will provide more information on these in my following posts.
The RX 470 and 570s are hands down the best graphics cards when it comes to mining. This is due to its extremely low price and excellent hash rate performance. Like the RX 480s and 580s, these cards can also be very hard to find at reasonable prices. These cards are also excellent performers on the ETHash and EquiHash algorithms.
