The Fiji based GPUs such as the Nano and Fury aren’t that cost effective and as the file size increases due to their limited VRAM buffer capacity they do fall well behind the R9 390 series. When it all boils down to it the GTX 1070 looks to be king as it offers solid performance and a very high level of efficiency. The R9 390 and 390X are faster, but will consume much more power.

Once you start mining, if you find a block ethminer will output a smiley face and say “Block submitted and accepted!” and geth will output “Mined block #xxxxx”. You might also see geth say “Mined stale block #xxxxx”. Once you’re mining, make sure you watch your rig. The first 24-48hours are essential and will determine if your system is stable or not. If it runs without problems during that period, then you should be fine. I’d recommend staying within reachable distance of your rig during this time as all sorts of issues can occur, and if you’re extremely unlucky, you could end up burning a building down.
Initially I started testing with the go-ethereum client but started to find mixed results with certain GPUs, I wasn’t sure why that was and couldn’t solve a few issues, so I scrapped the results and moved on. Parity is another popular client, but instead I decided to use Claymore’s Dual Ethereum miner version 9.6 for a few reasons. Number one was it worked really well with the current generation AMD and Nvidia GPUs.
Understanding Ethereum mining requires knowing the structure of Ethereum itself. As with Bitcoin, Ethereum depends on a decentralized group of computers to process and record transactions on the network. had a quick question on setting up geth – I’ve gotten to step 7 and while syncing it keeps generating the same few lines of text (“imported new block receipts, imported new block headers”, etc.) should this be expected? how long does this usually take to complete?
2. You say that “You can also change the memory clock. However, this has a smaller effect”. Is this for real? Everywhere I read about overclocking it has been said that the memory increase increases your hashrate. The core clock also increase it, but this affects the power consumption.
I tried swapping the risers, the issue persist even switching the entire GPU with GPU’s/risers that are know to work. Are you on reddit? I have a thread going with much more details if you want to check it out. Don’t want to draw visitors from this site but it’s not the best for ongoing discussion.
The only difference is that NVIDIA GPU’s work better in dual mining Sia coins rather than Decred as it’s the case for AMD cards. In dual mining you can get even slightly higher hashrate than just solo mining ethereum. I found out that the best pool for SIA is Nanopool.
An ASIC can be pre-manufactured for a special application or it can be custom manufactured (typically using components from a “building block” library of components) for a particular customer application.
On the Green selection you can see the “Memory Type”. In this example it’s Elpida. If you bought your GPU’s all at once, and they are the same card type and if you see  that they all have the same Memory Type, that means that they all CAN USE THE SAME BIOS. Exporting GPU BIOS can be done with clicking on the Red circle as displayed in the picture above, under the “BIOS Version”. Now you have your original bios exported, make a backup before going to the next step.
