Your mining software is the program that will actually perform the calculations necessary to solve hashes. Just like you have a lot of options when it comes to Ethereum wallets, you also have a lot choices when it comes to mining software. A couple of the more popular are Ethminer and Claymore.
The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti remains one of the most powerful graphics cards in the world, and is our recommendation as the best graphics card for 4K gaming. However, as a mining GPU, it is also an excellent choice, but there are a few considerations that prevent it being higher up this list. First of all, it’s still an expensive GPU, and the power consumption is high compared to other cards. This means the return on your investment is less, and will take longer to cover your costs. If you don’t mind splashing out on this GPU (or you’re going to also use it to play games with), then you’ll be very happy with the results, especially as with a bit of tweaking you can get a hash rate of 32 mh/s.

Sehr interessanter Artikel.
The official Frontier release of geth only supports a CPU miner natively. We are working on a GPU miner, but it may not be available for the Frontier release. Geth however can be used in conjunction with ethminer, using the standalone miner as workers and geth as scheduler communicating via JSON-RPC.
If you see 0/0, the DAG probably isn’t loaded properly, or you were impatient with geth –rpc and it didn’t sync up, now you’re working on some old block, hashing away, because you didn’t sync properly.
For this first update to our exploration of Ethereum mining performance, we’re adding six graphics cards in the entry-level and mid-range categories. We’re also preparing a second update that’ll include high-end GPUs. Beyond our original line-up, the list of contenders now also includes:
For AMD,  install Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12 and the OpenCL SDK Package. Depending on your GPU, this might not be the correct driver. So if you’re having issues, check the Ethereum Forum for advice.
The Radeon R9 295X2 has by far the highest hash rate (46.0 MH/s) of the Ethereum GPUs on the market and will cost you $600. It has a power cost per day of about $1.44, a return per day of about $1.61 and a cost per MH/s of $13.04. This gives a return per year of $586.43.
Ethereum is quite difficult to get mining on windows – although with a bit of help and following the tutorial below you can get it up and running and start your own ethereum mining project in 15 mins. We’re going to show you how to start mining Ethereum on your GPU and CPU with Windows 64 bit in this guide. You will need to download two programs and need to have a decent GPU with more than 1GB of memory to get the most bang for your buck in terms of mining as Ethereum works on a memory hard hashing technique which GPU’s are best at.
it’s hard to tell if one GPU produces memory errors or if it’s something bad with the GPU, that would cause it to break in the longer run (Windows has strong tools like HWinfo64 that can tell you precise if your GPU is working properly or if it’s unstable)
However, you can’t use any GPU. Some are better than others when it comes to mining. For example, the GTX 1060 is a great GPU for gaming, but it’s not the best mining GPU on the market in its price range.
ethminer communicates with geth on port 8545 (the default RPC port in geth). You can change this by giving the –rpcport option to geth. Ethminer will find get on any port. Note that you need to set the CORS header with –rpccorsdomain localhost. You can also set port on ethminer with -F http://127.0.0.1:3301. Setting the ports is necessary if you want several instances mining on the same computer, although this is somewhat pointless. If you are testing on a private cluster, we recommend you use CPU mining instead.
Now depending on how much GPU’s you have you will need to increase the virtual memory. In general for each GPU you need to have 3GB Virtual Memory (because the DAG file used for hashing ethereum is above 2GB and going to 3 GB this year). So if you have 6 GPU you need to have 6x3GB Virtual Memory = 18GB
Theoretically, you could run your Ethereum mining software on the regular desktop or laptop you use every day. However, if you want to make money mining Ether, you want as many of your computing resources as possible to go towards solving hashes. And that means you need hardware that you don’t use for anything else.
While the GTX 1070 sits atop our list of the best mining GPUs, its follow up, the GTX 1070 Ti, is another fantastic mining graphics card, and with a number of power upgrades, such as a higher base clock, the 1070 Ti does a very good job. However, there are a few reasons why it’s listed lower than its older sibling. For a start, as it’s newer it costs more than the 1070, which will dent your profits from mining. It also has a higher power consumption, which makes it more costly to run. Finally, there have been incidents of a bug in the driver software which makes this GPU hash lower than expected, but an upcoming fix should sort that. If you’re prepared to tweak a few settings, however, this is an excellent mining GPU.
Step 16 Hashing Power benchmark: If you want to get an estimation of your hashing power you can run ethminer -M (for CPU mining) or ethminer -G -M (for GPU mining). The command will run and you should get a result similar to the image bellow.
Different cryptocurrency has different hash algorithm and requirements, but the essence of a hash is the same. If a miner be the first who compute the hash result matched the requirements against the whole network; then that winning miner will be reward with the coins! That’s exactly the goal of mining. Obviously, only using a small computing resources winning against the whole network is very difficult; that’s why the Mining Pool concept can be applied to join force to win.
Ameer Rosic uses ‘if this that’ logic to explain smart contracts. If we create a code online on the blockchain, and someone puts money into the contract, the next action will be executed. This may be a digital contract being sent to somebody’s email, for example. This trigger may execute something else, so on and so on.
Initially I started testing with the go-ethereum client but started to find mixed results with certain GPUs, I wasn’t sure why that was and couldn’t solve a few issues, so I scrapped the results and moved on. Parity is another popular client, but instead I decided to use Claymore’s Dual Ethereum miner version 9.6 for a few reasons. Number one was it worked really well with the current generation AMD and Nvidia GPUs.
ok ok ok … lets just put an hypotetical bubble in here… if you dont need to pay for electricity, lets say that you have your own mini plant or a landfield of solarpower what would be the other bottlenecks in this… internet speed?, hardware… heat?
DON’T overload your PSU! For example, an 1000W gold PSU should NEVER be forced over the 800W power draw for max efficiency, you might end up destroying it. please don’t buy cheap PSU’s for running your mining rig 24/7! If you run PSU at 100% a lot of bad things can happen, I have confirmed from a lot of sources that. If you already have so expensive components, the worst thing would be to save money on your PSU.
