The popularity of GPU-based cryptocurrency mining has driven up the prices of particularly efficient cards. GPU manufacturers have struggled to meet demands from miners. This struggle has resulted in a noticeable shortage of certain cards, as well as inflated prices from suppliers on the “secondary market” (in other words, resellers on sites such as eBay).
Each mining rig operates at a different level of efficiency and uses a variable amount of electricity. On the low end, miners typically draw ~100 W at their maximum load, but this can increase up to over 1000 W with more powerful and less efficient miners. With the amount of mining variation, you’ll want to calculate your power cost per day and compare that to the estimated return per day when picking out a miner.
1x Custom Mining Case –  I’d recommend an Open Air 6 GPU Mining Case. I’ve built several of these 6 GPU rigs for family and friends using this particular mining case works quite well for airflow and ease of building.
Note, that some of the costs may vary from one country to another. Since most of the GPUs are sold via Amazon or Ebay, some countries will see the extra shipment costs. Also, consider the cost of electricity in your country.
CPU — Now, what is the best CPU for mining Ethereum? That’s a much easier question: get a cheap CPU that works with the slot on your motherboard. If you’re going to get one of the above motherboards, chances are you’re going to need an Intel CPU for slot LGA 1150. Unless you plan to use your rig for something other than mining, you should just get a budget Intel Celeron CPU to keep the cost of your rig down.
In fact, the CEO of hedge fund Polychain Capital, Olaf Carlson-Wee, is of the opinion that the entire market capitalization of Ethereum will exceed that of Bitcoin by the end of this year. At least, that’s his Ethereum price predictions for 2018. If it exceeds it, price will triple.
The world has gone digital, from the development of smart homes to the development of innovations that promote seamless transactions. Every industry is feeling the impact of technology now more than ever. In every part of the world, the technologically driven goals remain the same: the maximization of profit and the promotion of sustainable development in all spheres of life. It is this yearning to make life as easy as possible that brought about the birth of cryptocurrency.
This article needs to be proofread. There are multiple spelling errors and incorrect word usage, such as “This is because the Claymore miner is faster but only works for CPU.”. Claymore miner is faster for GPU, not CPU.
If this makes your system unstable, Radeon Settings will automatically reset to the default voltage. There is virtually no risk of permanent instability. In the worst case scenario, you can simply remove your graphics card.
In a word, your mining rig needs to solve a mathematical algorithm to mine Ethereum. The mining difficulty of the network is a measurement of how difficult this algorithm is to solve. The higher the difficulty, the less Ethereum you receive for each unit of energy the GPU on your mining rig expends. As more miners join the network – the difficulty increases.
Skycoin is the cryptocurrency of Skywire. That means Skycoin has a practical application more than simply acting as another digital currency. The way Skycoin works is this: When you pass something along the Skywire network, you earn Skycoin. When you need to access the bandwidth yourself, pay via Skycoin. It only takes seconds to send and receive, with thousands of per second.

Hopefully we get some plateau, and ETH price goes up to where there is ROI at some point for cards in the $250 range that were online in the 2018 time frame. Then we can all be happy (and blissfully ignore the fact that buying would likely have been better haha – but yes that’s a different topic entirely – profitable in USD is good enough for me for this project!)
High Jerry nice vid! Do you think a top of the range AMD graphics card from 3 years ago would still be good to mine with today? I did a tiny bit of mining back then but since then the graphics card has hardly been used.
What the advertisements for cloud mining always leave out is that difficulty always increases (and yes, its very predictable, the trend line is solid). It looks great after the first month, but the coins mined decrease at about a 1-2% compounded daily. That means after a month you are probably making half the coins daily. You don’t notice when coin price is going up, but do you think coins can maintain a 2% avg growth every day forever? At 6 months, you are making 2% the coins of what you were making at the start. Basically, its like this, you lend your friend $100, he pays you back for 100 days $0.39 in gold. Which means he only gives you back $39, but he tells you don’t worry, if gold appreciates you will get your money back. The revenue you get is only from the appreciation of the coin, the actual mining loses money always. So, why not just buy the coin direct then???
Genesis-Mining also this big company specialized in mining from 2013, The company offers different types of packages and the possibility of miningdifferent cryptocurrencies… At the moment the contracts are sold out,due to the considerable number of contracts sold this year. The next important thing that you need is a Mining Rig Open Frame. I would recommend you to build one yourself as a DIY project. There is nothing much that is needed. You can customize as per your needs.
The next step is to setup pool mining, as solo-mining is unlikely to make you any Ethereum unless you have a warehouse full of GPUs. Your first step will be to choose an Ethereum mining pool. There are plenty to choose from but we recommend Nanopool or Etheremine. The home page or help section of a mining pool site most likely contains instructions on how to mine on their pool using the popular Claymore miner.
Bitcoins per Block – Each time a mathematical problem is solved, a constant amount of Bitcoins are created. The number of Bitcoins generated per block starts at 50 and is halved every 210,000 blocks (about four years). The current number of Bitcoins awarded per block is 12.5. The last block halving occurred on July 2016 and the next one will be in 2020.
The power cost of this card is about $0.43 per day which is significantly lower than both the aforementioned Radeon R9 GPUs. Moreover, it requires a power consumption of just 150W – half that of the R9 7990. For this card, the cost per MH/s at $7.96. This GPU features an 8GB GDDR5 RAM.
For me, my aim was to find out more about the Ethereum network as I am a software developer and the possibility of programming smart contracts is like playing with a giant box of Lego Mindstorm, with unlimited pieces.
– Ambient temperature affects how much you can overclock your card before it burns out. So some guy in Canada will have natural cooling as opposed to some guy closer to the equator with a 30degC ambient temp. You cannot rely on other people’s reviews and achievements to be the same for you.
As far as ETC vs. ETH yesterday it should have been a no-brainer. Do you want to buy ETC on the bubble and hope it keeps going up and dumps don’t happen? Or would you rather buy ETH when people are panicking like crazy dumping all their ETH at illogical levels based purely on their emotions, where you’re perhaps getting ETH (a well backed, well developed and proven crypto which has hit $20 in it’s pre-Dao crash glory) at a significant discount?
I bought Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB for 300€ few months ago and now it has made me ~1000€ money in cryptocurrency ! My computer is just a basic computer only the graphics card is good ^^ And I play a lot and turn off the mining while I play, so it’s not mining 24/7. Easy money! 😉
Dude…you filmed the video in 18may and you mined 31 etc/mth, now…after exactely 1 month you mine with 300mhs 17etc/mth…do you really think that in 12months you will be gettin to 1600etc…I strongly doubt it…
I moved all my miners over 6 months ago. best decision I did. now i have accumulated a nice stash of ETC for future holding. Etc will have a big future. people are slow to catch on. But the smart ones already have.
I get to page (4) in the tips it says that I do not require forge but then in the instructions it says the first thing it tells me is I need to download forge? even though previously it said there was two options and I didn’t have to, I think what ever no biggy I’ll download forge so I click the link it takes me to another page (5)
also you wont be able to run 50 cards in one house unless you upgrade your house to handle the load. on top of that you didnt mention the heat these cards produce you NEED cooling and downtime of rigs will happen as well.
Samlet netværk hashrate har været klatring kraftigt siden 2. Kvartal 2016.

Crypto mining has become a divisive issue. Miners gobble up popular graphics cards by the armful, depleting inventory and driving up prices. Gamers are left to pay exorbitant prices, sometimes as much as double, even for mainstream GPUs. A little animosity between the two camps is therefore understandable.
This is a classic line from miners looking for reasons to justify the high electricity costs which usually result in non-profitability compared to just buying Ether/other crypto outright. Again, maybe it makes sense for <1% of the population, but it's not efficient or a realistic arguement. First off from Sep 1st the January 11th there has been NO change in difficulty. Prior to Sep 1st there was a rise and now post january 11th there has been a rise. But for the majority of the known record it has actually remained level. So that is speculation.
