This could mean that the supply of Ether will significantly decrease, causing a dramatic increase in its value. On top of that, any user can now stake some of their Ether in order to validate blocks (as long as they are able to stake the minimum amount, to be finalized by Ethereum’s core developers), earning interest on their existing stake.
Notice the wave pattern in the chart? Our guess is its claymore’s dev fee kicking in at that time. We also seemed to had some internet outage (and that is the most annoying thing ever – no internet, no mining)
You may want to consider moving away from dwarfpool as they control too much hashrate – see If you are miner, please consider moving away from dwarfpool (44%). This link also contains a list of other pools and some of these pools provide downloads to slightly different mining clients – you may find one more suitable in this list.
That said, it’s still very profitable which is why huge farms are being set up because it will continue to be very profitable till the end of time. I have cards to help those who want to mine that I need to get rid of so PM me if you wanna buy some
However I’m afraid you bought the worst possible cards, you overspent on useless things like a beautiful case and and you bought the worst PSU available on the market. You need to do more research on hardware. I have a small mining farm and it looks nothing like yours and only cost me 2k and I am at almost 400 MH/s
Thank you for posting this Jerry. It’s well laid out and packed with great information. I’ve just recently been researching mining and bought a small contract on genesis. Really appreciate all you do!
We implement showcases of the benefits that a Trezor can have on overall user’s online security. But all that can be done without compromising on the security of your coins. Why? Because applications such as Password Manager work outside of Trezor and the user “only” uses the signatures from Trezor to sign any transaction – be it sending BTC, or encrypting a string of text.
We provide simple, plug & play systems which work from day 1. You can view the best Ethereum mining rigs and have it delivered to your door. We also provide full solutions from facility design to electrical installation of GPU farming systems
First and foremost, I am not an expert in digital currency by any means. I am not a financial adviser nor am I suggesting in anyway that you should or should not delve into the digital currency craze. I am simply demonstrating how you can use your Mac hardware to mine Ethereum.
A word on positioning. GPU’s can get hot – especially if you overclock them so be sure to get the best bang for your buck – and to be safe to place your rig in a well ventilated area so it doesn’t overheat.
If you believe in the Ethereum concept (despite the failure of the DAO and doubts regarding the viability of Ethereum’s approach), you can support and gain voice in the Ethereum network through mining.
1 ETH would cost 14,570W of power every hour at peak performance (Depending on your country or state electricity cost i will just multiply it by 0.12 per KW/h therefore 14570 * 0.12 = 1.7484 * 24 hours = 41.9616 USD per day)
Perhaps one the biggest threats to life and livelihood when playing in the Aether is the presence of snowballs that mysteriously get hurled from clouds in the sky. This isn’t your grandfather’s snow, and it’s going to hurt when it makes impact. In fact, it will cost health and longevity in Minecraft if any of these snowballs comes into contact with a player. The threats from above are real, and they’re consistent. Get ready to dodge, duck, and run very quickly from what appears to be a snowman scorned. Already scared? Well sure you can use a mod like the Single Player Comands to make the game a lot easier, but I don’t think you should, as it will cost you all the fun.
In an ICO, start-ups sell a percentage of the cryptocurrency – which in this case many expect to be ethereum – to early supporters of their blockchain project, often in exchange for other cryptocurrencies.
@techtot – there are a lot of people that bought in at 700+ during the big June rally and are not traders nor do they have the stomach to weather the storm and go long. Thus they try to “hang in there” and see it go back up but with every tick it goes down, so they finally give in and sell it all (at the worst time for them) thus furthering the price drop. Ultimately if you have the stomach and can buy you should do so. They say when there is blood in the streets is when you make a fortune. I’m buying BTC and ETH at these low prices.
I think you also brought up in an earlier convo the point that the current stock has essentially sold out worldwide, so difficulty can’t keep increasing at the current rate. If there’s no new hashing power in the world that people can purchase and put online to hash ETH, then difficulty can’t keep increasing at the current rate. This difficulty “plateau” would be necessary for the 6-8 month, or even a 12 month ROI – and I certainly hope it is the case. Of course if nvidia’s volta comes in May or AMD comes out with midrange vegas or increases the supply of polarises then people will likely soak up all the GPU’s and difficulty will increase until it’s game over and it’s not even profitable vs. electricity.
I really hate how Aether decided they will be a closed mod. I will never play it no matter how good it become. For me the point is to have a customizable game that I decide what content and rules I want, not someone else decide it for me.
John Bell in 1986, interviewed by Paul Davies in “The Ghost in the Atom” has suggested that an Aether theory might help resolve the EPR paradox by allowing a reference frame in which signals go faster than light. He suggests Lorentz contraction is perfectly coherent, not inconsistent with relativity, and could produce an aether theory perfectly consistent with the Michelson-Morley experiment. Bell suggests the aether was wrongly rejected on purely philosophical grounds: “what is unobservable does not exist” [p. 49]. Einstein found the non-aether theory simpler and more elegant, but Bell suggests that doesn’t rule it out. Besides the arguments based on his interpretation of quantum mechanics, Bell also suggests resurrecting the aether because it is a useful pedagogical device. That is, many problems are solved more easily by imagining the existence of an aether.[citation needed]
It all depends on how much the electricity costs. You will get a 7970 (which is the card with which seems to have the best cost-ratio) for about 150 USD in used condition, so a similar rig like mine with all 7970s will cost you about 1000 USD with a power input of approximately 1300-1400 Watts when under full load. Over here, I have already sold my equipment, since you would need about 2 USD per ETH just to cover equipment and electricity cost and maybe refund it after a whole year (the rack needs to be maintained, too, don’t forget that! And it is likely to fail with changes, I had to tweak mine at least once a weak). Since you can buy 1 ETH at approximately 1 USD for now, it does not make sense to me. I guess you will need to put up your rigs in countries where electricity is really cheap (less than 10 cents per kWh) in order to have a very small benefit – and than you need to scale. All in all, mining is not worth it at all, imho. But it definately was, until the price dropped – and hey, I did not want to miss a chance ?
Most of the dorm room miners I spoke to mined alternative currencies with personal computers and graphics cards. Some used their desktops, while others built their own computers. A few of them even used their laptops. Pretty much everyone already had graphics cards for gaming or other purposes before realizing that they met the hardware requirements for mining.
Mining is the glue that holds Eethereum’s ‘decentralized app store’ together by ensuring that it comes to consensus on each change to any of the applications (dapps) running on the network. Essentially mining helps verify and validate transactions within Ethereum’s network.
“I think the market had a spectacular run, and trees don’t grow to the sky,” Novogratz said this week, speaking at CBInsights’ Future of Fintech conference in New York. “So I probably still have roughly 10% of my net worth in crypto, but it’s been scaled way back.”
Sidenote: If mining isn’t your thing, and you are just interested in purchasing some cryptocurrency as part of your investment portfolio, I personally use and recommend Coinbase. I would also recommend keeping your coins safe using the Ledger Nano S hardware wallet. This hardware wallet supports all the major cryptos including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Zcash, Dash, Stratis, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, Ark, Expanse, ubiq, Pivx, Vertcoin and Viacoin. Did I miss any?
The Ether, aka The Place of Doors is the Sky Dimension and the dwelling place of The Voice in the Darkness. It was also the home of the Nameless Protagonist, Steve’s brother, while under the influence of the Mind Amulet. It was originally called the Aether, but after it was twisted into darkness it was renamed to the Ether. Steve explored it extensively with his brother before The Voice in the Darkness arrived.
When we are talking about scalability, our primary concern is whether the increased number of users will adversely affect the transaction time or not. Simply put, when more people use the technology, there are more transactions up for registering and putting down in the ledger.
I just finished writing an article on Ethereum mining for this site and I covered the Titan V. It won’t be profitable for Bitcoin mining (only ASIC miners are profitable for Bitcoin) but it will mine Ethereum and other GPU-mineable coins with amazing efficiency. The problem is that it costs $3,000 and so it’ll take a very long time for it earn back its purchase price and become profitable… I believe it will get around 70 MH/s at 200 W mining Ethereum, so if you plug that into a mining calculator it should give you some idea.

To start mining with your GPU, key in ‘ethminer –G’ followed by the enter key. This will initiate the mining process after building the DAG ((Directed Acyclic Graph), which is a large file stored in the RAM of your GPU for the purpose of making it ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) resistant. Ensure that there is sufficient space on your hard drive before getting to this point.
https://www.coinhole.us is the first web miner that anyone can use to mine most popular cryptocurrencies on any new gen device even phones and game consoles. They even offer cloud mining solutions at a much more affordable rate for those that don’t have the computing power or don’t want to leave their devices on 24/7.
also you wont be able to run 50 cards in one house unless you upgrade your house to handle the load. on top of that you didnt mention the heat these cards produce you NEED cooling and downtime of rigs will happen as well.
6) A Case – Again this can be quite a difficult choice to make as it will depend on your GPU’s and whether you are using GPU risers. You don’t want components sitting on top of each other as there is a fire hazard potentially. You can leave the whole system open air or even build your own case to give it that personalised touch. You can buy off the shelf rigs from a couple of providers – for example SW mining here have their own set of rigs that take up to a week to ship. They do all the hard work for you.
