Every day you wait to mine the higher the risk gets. GPU prices are inflated and continuing to increase. It’s created a bubble and the risk is when that bubble is going to pop. It could be 2 years or it could be next week. So investing in rigs right now you are betting that the bubble won’t burst before your ROI. The problem with everyone’s opinion is that nobody knows the future so you won’t ever get a good answer. As far as getting your ROI mining ether, plan on mining a more profitable coin if it comes to it. Ethereum may not be the most profitable once metropolis hits and you always want to mine the most profitable coin to hit your ROI sooner. Also, consider building a 6 GPU rig before investing all that money so you will know how difficult it really is and all of the expenses.
Total network hashrate has been climbing rapidly since Q2 2016. A dip occurred on news of the DAO crisis but hashrate has since recovered. Things were relatively quiet until around Q2 2017 where everything Crypto related absolutely boomed, especially Ethereum as it facilitated a wave of new projects and ICO activity.   This chart from Etherscan tells the story:
Det er absolut i den højere ende og uden tvivl en gaming PC. Ikke desto mindre, den CyperPowerPC Xtreme Gamer S630 er en af de bedste Ethereum minedrift Pc ‘ er til rådighed. Dens i7-7700 er en ekstra bonus, da hash sats er GPU bundet. 120 GB SSD gør for hurtig boot tider og der er en 1 TB harddisk for stor fil opbevaring.
Hopefully we get some plateau, and ETH price goes up to where there is ROI at some point for cards in the $250 range that were online in the 2018 time frame. Then we can all be happy (and blissfully ignore the fact that buying would likely have been better haha – but yes that’s a different topic entirely – profitable in USD is good enough for me for this project!)
But next question… Is diffrent betwee using USB riser and IDE/ATA cable?? I have 2 x 7950 and mining at dwarfpool. Current profit is ~0.9ETH/day. Average hashrate is 40,5MH/s. In each calcualtor with this hashrate profit should be 1,01ETH/day where is the problem?
So after 12 months we should be making around $2,160. However we haven’t deducted the hardware cost yet, so it’s more like we’re breaking even or even losing some money. This is true for Bitcoin’s current exchange rate (around $8,500).
@techtot – there are a lot of people that bought in at 700+ during the big June rally and are not traders nor do they have the stomach to weather the storm and go long. Thus they try to “hang in there” and see it go back up but with every tick it goes down, so they finally give in and sell it all (at the worst time for them) thus furthering the price drop. Ultimately if you have the stomach and can buy you should do so. They say when there is blood in the streets is when you make a fortune. I’m buying BTC and ETH at these low prices.
Interest and support for cryptocurrencies is growing as you can see in the FT, Mashable and the BBC. As support for Ethereum grows and demand increase the price of Ether will rise making Ether mining more profitable.
The answer is absolutely! Ethereum was created to be the next level of the internet and the future platform for all decentralized apps, but then the DAO hack happend.. Which led to a lot of debate, and finally was decided to hard fork and change the code.
Naturally, these problems, if left unsolved, jeopardize the future of Ether, hence making any Ethereum price predictions for 2018 problematic. So the question is this: will these issues find solving? Or is a new currency going to come to light that doesn’t have these problems in the first place?
AMD introducedtheir ny 14 nanometer (nm) RXseries kort ad svære at modstå $ 200 pris i 2016and krypto valuta minedrift blev meget mere rentabelt som den mindre henholdsvis 14 nM fremstillingsprocessen giver dette kort imponerende ydelse og lavt strømforbrug.
An at-home mining setup certainly does not guarantee immediate or easy wealth. Many fledgling cryptocurrencies have yet to take off and may never see the gains that have made Bitcoin especially newsworthy in recent weeks. Nonetheless, fans of the digital currency industry see the increase in interest as a great sign that cryptocurrencies of all kinds are gradually making their way into the public consciousness. Further, the more independent mining operations exist, the greater the degree of decentralization, and that is typically a founding principle for any of these currencies.
“It just so happened that at the time I was reading up on mining, I was building a personal computer for purposes of video editing…some AI stuff, and whatever I throw at it,” says Arjun Singh Brar, a recent graduate of Singapore University of Technology and Design. With access to his dorm’s free electricity, he thought, “Why don’t I just give [mining] a try.”
With a few hours of research, the single best graphics card I found for the money which is actually in stock and has same day shipping for me is the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING, 4GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 04G-P4-6253-KR on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF7EQJZ. I chose this graphics card because all the others I looked at for a better value were sold out! The EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC has SAME DAY delivery near me with an estimated hashing power for ETH at 12 MH which equals repayment in less than 2 months at the current price for Ether! If I was starting today this is what I would begin with by ordering 2 to 8 of these. I am not starting today because I have a trip coming up next week and am considering beginning Ethereum mining and/or being a Steemit Witness in late June 2017.
This card generally retails in the $800 range, but mining demand has driven its price to over $1,000 in some locations. If you’re lucky enough to get free power, then this card could be a great choice.
Disclosure: Mining equipment metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 234,245 GH/s and using a ETH – USD exchange rate of 1 ETH = $ 738.07. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the ETH to USD conversion rate. Equipment cost can vary, block reward is fixed at 3 ETH and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
SJ Oh, a trader and vice-president at Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency broker Octagon Strategy, said he saw a pickup in ethereum trading interests recently, as some investors were increasingly buying the cryptocurrency so that they could use ethereum to pay for the next ICO to be launched by start-ups.
Yep your correct. If you really want a brain dead way of approaching this just use wolfram alpha and substitute hash with meters. wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1+Tm%2Fs+to+Gm%2Fs – boyfarrell Feb 1 ’14 at 6:17
If it wasn’t profitable I can assure you graphics cards wouldn’t be selling out everywhere. It is indeed profitable. If you have a competitive advantage. Think someone is always making a profit, that doesn’t mean everyone is. You want cheap electricity. You can manage with mid rate electricity prices to make a profit too but it’s more of a gamble the higher those costs are.
I don’t understand these prices of card going from 100 to 1000$. Will be going for NVIDIA for altcoins. Maybe 2 cards for the start. Celeron, power supply and 4 gb RAM. My opinion is that it’s better to mine low price and difficulty coins like Siacoin et cetera.
If you have multiple GPUs, you’ll notice all of them listed here. By default, ethminer will use all of the GPUs on your computer that use a similar compute function. In our case it will be using OpenCL. We’re going to be using the MinerGate pool of eth.pool.minergate.com:45791. You can go to the MinerGate website for a full list of pool URLs. We’ll also be using the account name we setup with MinerGate in this example it will be the email I used for account setup.
GPU mining is largely dead these days. Bitcoin mining difficulty has accelerated so much with the release of ASIC mining power that graphics cards can’t compete. If you do want to use them, you’d best equip yourself with a motherboard that can take multiple boards, to save on running separate PSUs for different boards.
All transactions in Ethereum (and other cryptocurrencies) are encapsulated within discrete blocks. These blocks are comparable to the batches of transactions which banks send to each other, except in Ethereum they occur every 15 seconds (on average). Blocks are identified by their “height,” starting from 0 and incrementing sequentially until the current block.
Thanks for providing this info. I’m looking at putting some money I just took out of stocks into cryptocurrency, and this is a good guide as to what is affordable right now, and which coins have values that may skyrocket in the future. I’m going to bookmark this so I can use it for reference.
Just sub’d, thanks for this video. I finally registered @ Kraken and am waiting verification. Like many, I missed the Bitcoin boat back in 2010 and I don’t want make the same mistake with another potential, because I was all over BTC back then but completely buckled due to lack of brass balls, lol.
Aether is the Greek personification and elemental god of “the bright, glowing upper air of heaven -– the substance of light”. He embodies the pure upper air that the gods breathe, as opposed to the normal air breathed by mortals. The aether was also known as Zeus’s defensive wall, the boundary that locked Tartarus from the rest of the cosmos.
Take the online notebook described in “What is Ethereum?”. The network would not come to consensus about the ‘state’ of the notebook (say, if a note is added or deleted) without the computational power to process the changes.
The hash rate is the speed in which your mining rig can solve the mathematical algorithm needed to validate a transaction. New miners are constantly entering the market with better and faster hash rates.

Last night, I had a debate with my mining partner on this topic. It was a battle between Ethereum and Zcash. According to WhatToMine – Zcash should be the more profitable option (by a lot) but mind you, the last time we run the test, Zcash was at its high.
In an ICO, start-ups sell a percentage of the cryptocurrency – which in this case many expect to be ethereum – to early supporters of their blockchain project, often in exchange for other cryptocurrencies.
I can download it and click “shaders” in the shaders option in game, and it says “shaders initialized” but it still looks like vanilla Minecraft, even though I’ve followed all the steps. Please help. ?
hi… i think you should wait and not buy this motherboard because a lot of people are saying that it is not accepting 7 i got lucky and all my GPUs are working… but some people are not getting it to work!
