People I’m helping setup rigs and such are trying to go full bore right now and are willing to pay these insane prices for cards. They ask me what I think and I just say setup what you have and keep scouring for deals but don’t overpay. They won’t likely listen to that, but I also don’t want to be the person who said no and then somehow this GPU shortage causes difficulty to stall and the price skyrockets on PoS rumors or some weird super profit scenario.
An interesting notion, but my gut says overall performance will be poor for two reasons. First, memory bandwidth. Even premium dual-channel boards top out around 30 GB/s, yet the lowly 1050 Ti can do better than 100 GB/s. Second, even if you had the bandwidth, low shader count wouldn’t let you with it fast enough. Also, you ‘d need iGPUs with OpenCL support, which I believe requires Haswell and later ( I know my Sandy Bridge HD 3000 doesn’t do OpenCL ). If you had a bunch of AMD APUs, that’s a different story, of course.
nicehash is very easy to use in windows 10 a saw a problem if you have multiple logins, if someone uses another session it will stop mining until you log in again, at least that happend to me, I switched to ethminer and nanopool to test this week because nicehash has a 3% pool use…
There is a fourth possibility; which is that I missed the AMD driver update which fixed the speed problems for RX cards. I will do some more research and update the article. Thanks for pointing out the error though.
– Ambient temperature affects how much you can overclock your card before it burns out. So some guy in Canada will have natural cooling as opposed to some guy closer to the equator with a 30degC ambient temp. You cannot rely on other people’s reviews and achievements to be the same for you.
The latest variant, dubbed Satori.Coin.Robber, was first spotted on 8 January and hosts the same exploits. However, a new capability added to this creation is the scanning of mining hosts — usually based on Microsoft Windows operating systems — through management port 3333.
21 June, Ethereum News – Mining Ethereum is a time and power consuming process. Just as I discussed in my Step by step Ethereum mining guide, the only way to get this digital currency is through mining. However, mining Ethereum implies more than just increasing the number of Ethers in circulation. It also means securing the network which in turn, assures the verified calculation.
The methods of costing transactions are different in the two. In Ether, it depends on the complexity of computation, the storage needs as well as the bandwidth usage. However, in Bitcoin, there are no such factors affecting the costing as all transactions compete with each other equally. This is what is known as Gas (in Ethereum), limited to each block while for Bitcoin, the limiter is the block size.
Bitcoin is completely controlled by three mining pools.Bitcoin is no longer decentralized. Skycoin’s consensus algorithm is designed from the ground up to achieve Satoshi’s vision of a truly decentralized cryptocurrency.
Personally, I believe in diversification within the Ethereum realm: mining, buy-and-hold, momentum trading, mean-reversion trading and price arbitrage between exchanges. I believe in the incredible potential of a technology like Ethereum, but there are so many factors that could crush its market cap.
Ethereum’s impressive rise has led to a dramatic fall in bitcoin’s marketcap as a percentage of the market. It has declined from about 85% at the beginning of the year to just under 40% as of late June. Up until mid June, Ethereum was on track to surpass bitcoin as the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market cap, according to Coindesk, but its share of the market has since pulled back.
According to the philosophical point of view of Einstein, Dirac, Bell, Polyakov, ’t Hooft, Laughlin, de Broglie, Maxwell, Newton and other theorists, there might be a medium with physical properties filling ’empty’ space, an aether, enabling the observed physical processes.
So assuming prices remain the same. You can invest in a bunch of cheap computers, break even and maybe make 10% in profit or something. That is great, but after that you are left with paper weights with pretty low resale value. The other thing you can do is build the boxes to be nice. You still break even (though perhaps not with the 10% profit) and now when you can’t mine Ethereum anymore you actually have a really nice computer you can sell for parts or run for whatever your personal use may be.
You may want to consider moving away from dwarfpool as they control too much hashrate – see If you are miner, please consider moving away from dwarfpool (44%). This link also contains a list of other pools and some of these pools provide downloads to slightly different mining clients – you may find one more suitable in this list.
It’s likely that ZEC or some other coin will be profitable for some miners – but it will depend on your power costs. That’s always the case, it’s just that right now it’s profitable for nearly anyone with a recent generation graphics card, but after ETH moves to POS it’s likely to only be for those with a recent GPU and low power costs, who already own their hardware (and therefore buying equipment to mine will make no sense)
I reckon just try running Claymore and see what it says. I’m not up to date on Ethereum mining but I heard that the ETH blockchain has gotten too big to sync normally. I don’t know how miners are handling that but presumably some kind of pruning or other solution is used.
Just seemed inappropriate is all. But it is trendy as all get out. i know Tom has to be unbiased so even if the miners have single-handedly ruined pricing, put most GFX cards out of reach of many users and basically just bleeped things up Tom’s can’t get personal. They are earning money. Putting food in their kid’s tummies and all that. Who wouldn’t like a little extra on the side. My 1080 Ti was purchased at($10 less) than MSRP back in January.
He uses a vending machine as a real life example. You input the code B6 into the vending machine. The vending machine takes this code, and then executes the code. The candy bar labled B6 is then dispensed.
On the downside, you can’t just slap a picoPSU into a case without making modifications. For example, I had to run the DC power jack through my case’s three-pronged female port. On top of that, picoPSUs usually only support a single SATA-powered device. If your case places its storage drives in odd places, you might also need an extension cable.
Consumer product and services comparison website Finder’s survey of nine blockchain industry participants on the price trend for the world’s top 12 cryptocurrencies found that ethereum will see the biggest increase in market cap, at 212 per cent, followed by bitcoin at 194 per cent, and bitcoin cash at 123 per cent.
You can go up to DDR4 quite easily with fairly standard chips and not too exotic board layouts. The nice thing about FPGA is that they scale a lot better than a bunch of graphics cards that need to sit in motherboards with CPUs and whatever. Rather than running a whole computer for a couple of graphics cards you can churn out racks and racks of low power FPGAs that can use consumer DIMM modules. It might not be economical to do so at the moment (I’ve hardly built a BOM for the thing, this is just speculation), but it’s not impossible by any stretch of the imagination.
Many are suggesting that since there’s no longer a large need to compensate miners with new tokens, the creation of new Ether may be significantly or completely eliminated. Going one step further, it could even mean that existing Ether is eliminated when bad transactions aren’t included into the main blockchain.
Sapphire R9 290X is high-end gaming GPU.It has core clock speed of 1130and mem clock speed of 1200. It uses the ethash algorithm to mine ethereum. It will cost you about $$$ and has the hash rate about 32Mh/s.
Baseret på dine valgte pakker, kan du give et skøn til dit antal mønter fra minedrift pulje. Men du kan ikke bare se numrene, det bare endnu bedre: du kan nemt individualisere estimaterne til dine personlige behov!
Another popular choice when it comes to Graphic Processing Units for mining Ethereum, the Radeon R9 HD 7990 used to be the biggest name till the R9 295X2 came along. This device is still in use by many users but the biggest drawback it offers is that it comes with a slightly higher price but offers a lower hash-power. Nevertheless, the R9 HD 7990 is still one of the best GPUs to mine Ethereum.
This is great info. I’ve just built a mining rig, and I’ve written up a post on how I did it. The post focuses on building the case, not software or which components to buy. http://blog.timwheeler.io/building-an-ethereum-mining-rig/.
A lot has been said about the Ethereum technology and how it works, but are you curious to know how to become a miner of ether. Mining sounds like a Stone age term but what it has to do in this Digital Age? No, we are not digging up earth to mine gold here but yes, we are digging software puzzles to get cryptocurrency Ether in return here. There are numerous ways to become a part of this network, let’s first precisely and briefly know what mining of ether will actually mean?
In this innovative novel, a librarian of Cherokee ancestry rekindles and reinvents her Native identity by discovering the rhythm and spark of traditionally told stories in the most unusual places in the modern world. Ada Ronner, a librarian at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, hears books speak and senses their restless flow as they circulate. The same relentless energy and liberation of the story is also felt by Ada as she roller-skates at the Dust Bowl, a local skating rink, floating far ahead of her husband, Ether, a physics professor.
