However, NVIDIA-s powerful chips, combined with their unparalleled power efficiency made the GTX 1070 a powerful competitor: the GTX 1070 provide a hash rate power of roughly 31 MH/s, if optimized properly, which places it just slightly above the R9 390X. The beautiful part lies in the power consumption segment, though, as the card only needs roughly 180W to run at full power, which is well the 230W of the 390X, and leads to quite a power difference if we’re talking about setups that use multiple cards (which is the case of most miners).
Besides Ethereum mining pool and Ethereum mining hardware, you will need high-quality Ethereum mining software and a reliable Ethereum wallet. I will provide more information on these in my following posts.
The mining pool has powerful servers located at different places around the globe. So you better choose the nearest located server from your location. The others servers will work as a backup, or you can use them at times.
Once you join ethereum, the minimum threshold that you can request for payment is 0.2 ether. However, they allow you to either raise or lower your minimum threshold in your settings. The good thing about Nanopool is that their interface is user-friendly and hence even if you are a newbie, you can be able to use.
Ethpool and Ethermine contribute to same pool but operate from different website. This is largest pool on ethereum network with 25.0% of network hash rate power. Ethermine has currently over 62,000 miners using the pool software and Ethpool has under 900. Both Pools charge a 1% fee on rewards that you receive.
Nvidia GPU’s:  To get the latest Nvidia GeForce drivers go to https://www.geforce.com/drivers and then enter in your card info and click “Start Search” and then download the current version from the results.
Step 10: You need to open up another command prompt as in step 4 – so your going to get two scary looking boxes. Simply click right click on your already open command prompt in the taskbar at the bottom of the page and click on command prompt in the menu that appears. A new command prompt should open with “C:\users\username>”. This is the wrong place to look for etherminer so you need to tell it the right place to find it.
While the ROI – Return on Investment can go past a year for the Ethereum mining GPUs that have been mentioned above, it can be reduced if you opt to use more than one GPU. You will not get much by using just one video card to mine, and so deciding to purchase more than one GPU will be the best thing to do. But before you fully venture into that, you should also make yourself aware of the profit your mining rig will bring as well as the amount of money that you will spend on the energy.
Based in Canada, NuVoo Mining is a company that focuses on providing users with the tools for them to take the first steps into the crypto/mining world. NuVoo offers a Cloud Mining, Dedicated Miner and Colocation Miner service. Nuvoo also offers solutions for experts and large-scale entrepreneurs from one unit farm to multiple tier-1home dedicated mining farm. Nuvoo offers a billingual ( French and English ) live customer support service so clients can get access to instant support.
A Radeon R9 HD 7990 will cost you $680. Its power cost per day is lower than the R9 295X2 at $1.08 but its hash rate is significantly lower at 36 MH/s. Its return per day is $1.29 while its cost per MH/s is $18.89, giving it a return per year of $469.40.
On January 1st 2017, $1,000 would have gotten you 1.041 BTC (1 BTC was worth $960 on January 1st), 122.39 ETH (1 ETH was worth $8.17 on January 1st) and 20.622 ZEC (1 ZEC was worth $48.49 on January 1st).
I’ve received several questions about configuring drivers, adjusting overclocking/undervolting settings and configuring the mining software. Below, you’ll find a very brief 5 min video showing how to implement these 3 important steps in the mining rig configuration process.

In some cases, your motherboard BIOS might not be set-up correctly straight away. If you’re adding your GPUs one by one, and at one point your rig crashes, and you’ve eliminated GPU related issues, then it’s likely that your motherboard is the issue. Have a look around the forums for help, but often you will need a few settings changing. Personally, I’ve had experience with having to disable switch off some BIOS features and altering allocations, but system setups vary largely so I would say Google is your best friend.
Hi dear mike. my motherboard is asus h87-pro and i install 16g of DDR3 ram and i decided to buy two graphic cards for my system to start mining ETH or XMR. the electricity is free and if u suggest any gpu please tell me about what power i should buy too. thank u so much dude .
Nanopool now has a quick start that makes it very easy to download and setup the Claymore Dual Miner. On the Nanopool front page, click on ‘Quick Start’ under the Ethereum banner. Simply follow the steps to download and install Claymore’s Miner as well as setup your config file with the config generator.
GeForce GTX 1070 (Founder’s Edition) is the “Pascal”-architecture GPU that people with limited (though still substantial) budgets have been waiting for. This card is based on the same chip as the big-gun flagship GeForce GTX 1080, but it was cut down a bit to make it more affordable.
It has become the new standard in Ethereum mining and with the huge price explosion the demand for these cards have far outpaced supply and created an extreme GPU shortage, resulting in much higher GPU prices.  That said, if you shop carefully, set up auto-notifications/alerts and have a little luck you can get some of the AMD RX series cards.
Ethpool and Ethermine operate with two separate websites, but contribute to the same mining pool; it is probably a merger. This pool accounts for about 25% of all the hash rate power on the Ethereum network. It can be regarded as the biggest mining pool for this cryptocurrency, and they charge an amazingly low fee of only 1% of the miners’ reward.
I don’t think that Tom’s is going to advance mining much; our longtime enthusiast members mostly won’t get into it and it’s widely enough known already. A little extra knowledge for those of us on the sidelines and, who knows, maybe miners will concentrate on the most efficient cards and the price of the rest will go down. Not an issue for me, I’m running a fanless GT430, so what do I care about current prices?
Electricity costs vary from country to country. Mining consumes a lot of electricity. Apart from the power consumed by your mining hardware you might need to cool the room, this adds to your potential electricity costs. If you can keep your electricity costs minimal, you are bound to enjoy healthy returns on your investment. An efficient PSU is a shrewd investment if you look at the long run. Plus if you choose the most energy-efficient GPU that can offer a respectable hash rate, you’ll cut your power bills.
I’ve listed these in the order I would recommend them to any friend just getting started with building a mining rig and starting to earn passive income with Ethereum mining. This is simply a list of known ethereum mining pools. No pool operators pay me to list their website here.
Any personal computer can be used for the mining of ether, as long as the device incorporates a Graphic Card (GPU) and having at least 2 Gigabytes of RAM. Mining on Central Processing Unit (CPU) is simply a frustration in exercise; it incurs a lot of time with very minimal profits.
So, should you do it? That’s entirely up to you! Since GPU mining relies on GPU power, an investment in high end GPUs such as the GTX 1070 or 1080Tis is likely to pay off either through mining profit or via resell value, if things go south. Investing in lower end hardware might seem like a less-risky move from a financial standpoint, as it will imply a lower initial investment, but the return of investment rate and chances are significantly lower.
