@Ursium I really like your opinion and hope everyone that joins Ethereum thinks the same. Must of the alt-coins are a pump and dump ecosystem and this just tells me people do not care about cryptocurrency. they just live the dream of getting rich easily.
Step 12: Type in “cd prog” and then press the tab button. This should look like this C:\>cd prog and then press “tab” which will automatically complete the phrase for the closest fit found in the C: drive just like autotext does on your Iphone. After pressing “tab”, you should see C:/> cd “Program Files” and press enter which should give you a new line saying “C:\Program Files>”.
Hashes per watt is absolutely not the metric you want to judge a card’s merit on. Case and point: you pick an RX 560 and the ilk as the ultimate card, even at a pittance of hashes per card. Usually, the increased coins earned from the extra hashpower outstrips the extra power usage significantly (up until you hit that steep portion of the performance exponential curve). If you’re scaling anywhere past a few cards or a single rig, 75W vs 100W on a card isn’t your primary concern.
Using ethereum, the app doesn’t require one entity to store and control its data. To accomplish this, ethereum borrows heavily from bitcoin’s protocol and its blockchain design, but tweaks it to support applications beyond money.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 900 series cards don’t mine well on Windows 10 and use a fair bit of power, so if you have one of these cards you’ll want to run Windows 7 or EthOS where you can get performance levels with older driver builds. You’ll need to do your homework if you want to mine on a GTX 900 series card and generate revenue!
Step 1: The first thing you need to do is go to this link download Geth. Geth is the program that communicates with the Ethereum Network and acts as the a relay between your computer, its hardware and the rest of the ethereum network computers so if a block is mined by another computer your Geth program will pick it up and then pass on the new information onto your GPU or CPU for mining.
@Brips somebody else tested my CUDA miner on a GTX980 and the result wasn’t spectacular, roughly the same speed as OpenCL. On my todo list now first is getting the CMake config right, so you guys can build it for Ubuntu, and after that adding additional kernel tuning parameters so you can achieve maximum thread occupancy depending on the card you use.

Miners expend electricity hashing that block with the processing power of their GPU(s). A successful hash result produces produce a unique Proof of Work (PoW) proving that the miner worked on that block.
So the library has to be accessible, and then the way the algorithm works is by calling a 128 byte “page” out of that 2gb library. Well it doesn’t call them sequentially, it’s at a seemingly random order, and it also calls it a total of 64 times, before mixing it and then comparing it to the current nonce.
MinerGate allows you to mine with either your CPU or GPU or even both, you can also choose how many cores you want your CPU/GPU to use. This allows you to regulate the heat and electricity produced by your hardware, allowing it to have a greater life-span.
Haha, gotcha! I’m not actually going to tell you how to install geth. That’s because they have pretty good Windows installation instructions on their project wiki, under the heading Building From Source. You’ll want to ignore step #1 (you’ve already got git, and you don’t need mercurial). Also, step #5 is likely to be the hardest and most error prone part. I’d follow this guide for setting your environment variables if you don’t know how. Note that after setting your environment variables, you’ll need to close and reopen any command prompts or PowerShells for those settings to take effect.

almohtarif, if you are solo mining you need to first hit a block and then you will have a local balance available, but with that low hashrate solo mining is literally pointless. If you are pool mining you should check your stats on the pool, based on the pool payout minimum and timeframe it will again take some time before any coins are sent to a local wallet.
Hey everyone! I’ve recently gotten back into the mining scene, and I’ve decided to mine Ethereum (or ETH). I’ve been mining Monero lately (which I might also set up a guide for at a later date) and has proven to be somewhat profitable. However, at this moment in time ETH is the most profitable coin to mine, whether it be to convert into Bitcoin (BTC) or into a fiat currency. Even though I have years of experience of mining under my belt, it was a hassle (to say the least!) on how to mine ETH. Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 23,555,434,604 GH/s and using a BTC – USD exchange rate of 1 BTC = $ 9,634.65. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the BTC to USD conversion rate. Block reward is fixed at 12.5 BTC and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 600 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
Thanks so much, I am starting this now, just for the fun of it and see how it goes. Around R50 a day isn’t bad, on my 6GB 1060. I don’t know my electricity usage yet, but will keep an eye on it and try balance it out. But doubt I am using R50 a day.

Miners should be working together to speed up transactions and share in their efforts. Vitalik mentioned scalability being a problem down the road. He also mentioned “that every single full node must process every single transaction.”
For each ethereum application, the network needs to keep track of the ‘state’, or the current information of all of these applications, including each user’s balance, all the smart contract code and where it’s all stored.
As you can  see in the dual mining configuration, the last part is “-dcri 25”. That means that the  dual coin is set to mine intensively ,  and it shows how much GPU core is assigned for that task. Yes it’s needed for solo mining too, and needs to be set to 6! This is a very important part because it’s DEPENDANT ON THE GPU SERIES. The only noticeable difference between the RX 570 and RX 580 series is their GPU Core. The memory (used for ethereum mining) is almost the same on those cards, so there is basically no difference in  the ethereum hashrate, but the big difference comes in the GPU Core. The RX 580 series can handle around -dcri 25, don’t go above that because it can reduce your ethereum hashrate. For RX 570 series the optimal -dcri is around 19-22. For some cards even lower as 13, this needs to be tested by yourself. The proper way would be to start with -dcri 10. Then using your keyboard press “+” or “-”, that way you can increase or decrease -dcri by 1, as you will see on the claymore miner. By going up you will see the dual coin hash rate going up, repeat  that until you can start to see the ethereum hashrate decrease, then, after you find that spot reduce -dcri by 3, so you are not pushing the GPU to the limit. On the RX 570 series it’s possible to get a higher hashrate on ethereum with dual mining rather than just solo mining. Optimal for RX 570 is around -dcri 19 , optimal for RX 580 series is around -dcri 25. For some cards it’s possible to go even further, but it’s not worth it to stress the GPU too much.
Ethereum is quite difficult to get mining on windows – although with a bit of help and following the tutorial below you can get it up and running and start your own ethereum mining project in 15 mins. We’re going to show you how to start mining Ethereum on your GPU and CPU with Windows 64 bit in this guide. You will need to download two programs and need to have a decent GPU with more than 1GB of memory to get the most bang for your buck in terms of mining as Ethereum works on a memory hard hashing technique which GPU’s are best at.
i got 1 out of the 5 GPUs to mine… attempting to start another ethminer instance specifying next card crashes that specific instance (while the first one keeps hashing away)… so no dice with getting all 5 running on win10
I seem to remember earlier posts on Ethereum stating something to the effect that both CPU & GPU mining were going to be possible, with GPU maybe being slightly more efficient. To me that was awesome, that at least on some level i would be able to participate.
However, not all boards are created equal. Certain GPU architectures are quicker and more effective than others, and not all cards are loaded with the same type of graphics memory. and tap Enter, and you will start mining with your CPU. Again, you will need to create a DAG file, the first time you do this, which can take some time. But after that is complete, your “Geth” program downloaded in step 1 should start talking to your “ethminer” program, and you should start mining!
