You’ll also need a power button, unless your motherboard has one built in (which is fairly rare). This will do the trick, or you can build one into your plastic crate if you plan to go that route (see below).
The next risk, while not severe, is power. Mining computers draw a lot of power, and depending on the size of the rig, they can easily draw upwards of 1,000 watts. Depending on where you live this could mean that you are mining at a loss everyday.
Those of you who are tech savvies and mine for fun more than for money have no issues making your own rigs and getting the most out of my tutorials. However, many of you have been struggling to get your rigs on track and hashing as intended.
Note that buying used cards from crypto miners is not recommended, due to the wear and tear mining places on cards. If you resell your card after it’s no longer useful for mining, you should mention that it was used for mining, then price it accordingly.
Cryptocurrencies are digital assets that are sent and stored on the internet. It’s a trustless system that allows anyone to send another person money with no middle man required! Cryptocurrencies are set to be the future of money around the world, and they have many benefits over traditional money. Check out our informational videos and articles to learn more about Cryptocurrencies and how you can get started mining today!
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. I don’t mind because I have been able to get some good prices on AMD cards lately with one guy even saying that he was selling cards he just purchased brand new in December because their technology was becoming obsolete. Probably read this article and took it… Read more »
If you mean the release of the Casper Ethereum protocol, then yes, this is the start of a new phase of the development of the Ethereum ecosystem, which potentially can lead to fundamental changes in the network infrastructure. I hope this will seriously increase the value of this coin.

Your original link to amazon which included the picoPSU with an adapter is no longer available (404 page). Can you provide the optimal power brick adapter (link to product or recommended specifications) for use with the picoPSU 160xt in this build please?
It’s hard for me to tell yet – how legit is HashFlare, they seem pretty legit to me, but I haven’t yet withdrawn any  funds from there yet (well, I’ve been with HashFlare cloud mining just for a month and mining BTC)
“Hackers target 400,000 computers with mining malware”- I recently disabled my windows defender on one rig as it was causing issues. Is anyone using 3rd party antivirus/spyware software or windows defender?
We recommend checking out an Ethereum mining calculator before starting with mining process. An Ethereum mining calculator is an essential tool that will help you work this out, and by entering the above details into the calculator, you’ll be presented with a rough guide of your expected profits. The calculator will automatically enter the current figure for difficulty. However, Ethereum’s high price lures in more miners so that difficulty is very likely to rise in the future.
I think you also brought up in an earlier convo the point that the current stock has essentially sold out worldwide, so difficulty can’t keep increasing at the current rate. If there’s no new hashing power in the world that people can purchase and put online to hash ETH, then difficulty can’t keep increasing at the current rate. This difficulty “plateau” would be necessary for the 6-8 month, or even a 12 month ROI – and I certainly it is the case. Of course if nvidia’s volta comes in May or AMD comes out with midrange vegas or increases the supply of polarises then people will likely soak up all the GPU’s and difficulty will increase until it’s game over and it’s not even profitable vs. electricity.
1080s are not great for ethereum mining since they use a different kind of memory. The 1070ti do use the DDR5 that the ethereum mining software is optimized for. Still, bang for your buck-wise, plain 1070s or 1060s 6gb are probably the way to go.
In conclusion – cloud mining contracts will suite for people not willing to take the technical risk, upkeeping, learning and more – cloud contracts kind of gives the feeling – throw a money and watch it grow. On the other hand, you must do your homework and research before putting a significant amount of money into cloud mining contracts, there are a lot of scam and ponzi schemes out there.
The main part of the mining hardware is the graphics processing unit (GPU). Here is a link to a site that allows you to compare the different GPUs – http://www.mininghwcomparison.com/list/index.php?brand=both . Type “Ethereum” in the filter.
The second day of work brought a lot of successes, as well as some failures and even few minor injuries. Everyone’s fine though; the minor inconveniences didn’t prevent us from keep doing what we were doing.
The Radeon R9 295X2 has by far the highest hash rate (46.0 MH/s) of the Ethereum GPUs on the market and will cost you $600. It has a power cost per day of about $1.44, a return per day of about $1.61 and a cost per MH/s of $13.04. This gives a return per year of $586.43.
I’m having the same problem as Majorano. I double checked everything up until this point and I am 95% sure it is all correct. Here is what command prompt is giving me (my .bat file is called Armageddon):
For the last couple of days we have been focusing on cleaning the room. We have been using a professional machine to dust the carpet – I really want to have as less dust as possible before we install and turn on the rigs. We’ve been repeating the process for 2-3 days in a row – you can see me on the photo doing it once again today.
I’ll continue to scour for deals and add a card or two here and there for the right price, but I won’t pay over $280 for a card unless it’s a 580 8gb or 1070+ in which I have no NVIDIA cards at the moment anyway, and even then I won’t go much higher or I’ll just pass up the deal and be happy where I’m at.
Block   A block is a unit of the code the comprises the bockchain. It is the record of transactions that have occurred since the last block was created and a confirmation to previous transactions. Each block links to the block before it, thus creating a full chain back to the original or “genesis” block.
You will receive daily or weekly payouts to your Ethereum wallet address (it depends on the plan, but usually payouts are done daily). You need to pay in advance for hashing power and contracts often come in the form of a 1-year contract or unlimited (until mining with rented hardware is profitable). The only thing to keep eyes on is the current Ethereum value, so that you stay in profit and that you do not pay more for hashing power than you get out of Ethereum production.
1x Power Supply –  1000 Watt PSU – The key here is to have an efficient power supply that will save you over the long run in electricity costs. Look for Gold or Platinum rated (as opposed to silver or bronze). This is the industry standard for rating the efficiency of a computer’s power supply unit (PSU). If the model linked above is unavailable, I’d also recommend this model and this model.
A: 99.9% of Cloud Mining sites are Ponzi schemes or fractional reserve Ponzi’s.  Even though there are a few that have been around a long time, there have been no 3rd party audits of the hashing power sold and profits are usually very low unless you are promoting heavily and getting others to join in (another red flag of ponzi related activity).  Short Answer – Our advice is DO NOT buy into Ethereum Cloud Mining sites or related Deposit Investment/HYIP programs.
Not too many things done on day five. Again, we have had to wait for comment to get dry. In the meanwhile, we have continued the work on the shelves. Note: that guy on the photos is definitely not me ?
The Ethereum Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) file is stored in the GPU’s VRAM and it increases proportionally to mining difficulty. A new DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) is generated for each epoch around every 30,000 blocks. This DAG must be downloaded in order to continue mining. Note that older cards are still available but their performance will degrade with each new epoch.
Now, for the ease of this experiment – let’s compare Ethereum mining – DIY and Cloud contract from Hashflare.io. Also, I will assume you already have basic components – like motherboard, pc risers, processor and so on – and the one and only investment you are concerned is – adding a new graphics card.
Place plastic standoffs on the bottom of your plastic crate, and rest your motherboard on top of them. Make sure that all of the essential ports are accessible (SATA, USB, keyboard, mouse, etc). Use your knife to cut away pieces of the crate if necessary so that all ports you plan to use are exposed. Then plug your riser cables into the PCI-E slots of your motherboard.
First, head over to Etherscan’s Mining Calculator, which provides up-to-date figures for the current price, block time and network hashrate (as measured in Gigahash per second aka GH/s; denoting billions of calculations per second):
Cryptocurrency mining is a big buzz topic in technology these days. And why not? Utilizing your computer to digitally mine what seems like free money only begs the question, “where do I sign up?” Your machine will actually be “mining” or processing transactions for a decentralized currency, the hottest variant of which is called Ethereum.  Poised to overtake the industry bellwether Bitcoin, Ethereum has experienced explosive growth with roughly a $35 billion dollar market cap currently.
As the price of Ethereum is around $1000 you may be wondering to yourself whether it’s worthwhile to mine ETH. Like Bitcoin, Ethereum is a proof-of-work coin that uses miners to confirm network transactions. The profitability of mining varies from person to person and changes over time – usually becoming less profitable as the coin matures.
The 168 MH/s Ethereum Mining Rig is provided by MineShop. It holds 6 AMD graphic cards, the AMD RX 470. These mining rigs are specially developed and reconfigured for Ethereum mining, making them the most efficient and cheapest for mh and power usage per mh Ethereum miner on MineShop. You can also mine Ethereum through a cloud mining contract with Hashflare or Genesis Mining.
