We are going to be using the very popular Claymore Miner.  Get the current version here from Claymore’s original Bitcointalk thread and download the current version from the Google or Mega download links he provides (don’t use other people’s links).  The current version as of the time of this writing is 9.6 and you’ll want to get the Catalyst and Cuda version (not the Linux version).

This card is an all-round excellent performer, so that mining demand has driven its price from the regular $400 range to over $700, and for me, this is the only real drawback to this card. We like Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1070 for its performance/dollar. However, this implementation costs more and artificially limits the platform’s potential. Personally, I’ve found Claymore to be the strongest and best all round miner. It’s easy to set up, I’ve never had any issues with it, and it has a ton of added functionality (e.g. fan management), that I haven’t seen with other miners. It also has the bonus that it can mine two coins at once, which some people have found very useful to optimize their income. There have been reports of anywhere between 3 and 10 percent extra income.
Lastly, as a miner ensure that you are aware of the way your preferred mining pool pays out. Does it do a daily payout? Or any other type of payment method? Endeavour to know these things as it will help you to decide the right mining pool.

Hard Drive – You’re going to need a hard drive to put the operating system and mining software on. Your standard SSD drive can work. The size of the SSD will depend on what you want to do while you’re mining. If you intend on downloading the entire blockchain, then you need to take into consideration how long that chain will get and shell out a bit more money. If you’re just interested in mining as part of a pool then you can manage just fine with a smaller SSD drive.
Because ether is only rewarded based on ascertaining the correct nonce, the lower the chances of this happening, the more hashing operation you require to work through every block. Trying this on your own and using your rig could take months to discover a single block. Most miners do not have access to large mining farms such as Genesis.
