Operating System —  You have a few options when it comes to operating system. I personally went with Windows 10 for my rig (most software for mining will work fine with Windows, and I already had a key laying around from an old computer). But if you don’t already have access to Windows 10 for free or cheap, Eth OS is a linux OS that mines coins like Ethereum and others pretty well.
About the only scenario I can think of where this makes sense, is if you don’t want your spouse to find you investing money in a risky venture, but you think your spouse will dismiss computer equipment and sky rocketing power bills as normal…
There are many “dungeons” (bronze, silver, gold) scattered across the Aether. Each contains bosses, special mobs and structures, after the boss(es) are defeated there is usually some special reward in a stone chest, that can only be opened with the key each boss drops after defeating.
Thanks, Steven, very helpful. Not too sure about the DragonMint machine (lots of negative press out there) but Slush does sound reputable. Think my partner and I will jump in and mine Bitcoin and LiteCoin with one machine each.
A mining RIG for Ethereum is not economical. It is necessary to make a considerable investment to build a good team with a high hashrate that will generate a good amount of ether a day. These equipments are nothing more than graphic cards connected in a motherboard that allows breaking down the data blocks as fast as possible.
The entrance of bronze dungeons are located on the sides of normal islands. Bronze dungeons can have a varying number of rooms. Non-boss rooms contain sentries which attack the player, and sometimes have chests on 4×4 tables. Some of these chests are mimics, however. The boss of this dungeon can’t be attacked with a sword. It can, however, take damage from any tool (pickaxe, shovel, etc.). 9 blocks on the floor of each antechamber aren’t minable at all. The boss room’s walls are only minable once the boss is dead.
Thanks for providing this info. I’m looking at putting some money I just took out of stocks into cryptocurrency, and this is a good guide as to what is affordable right now, and which coins have values that may skyrocket in the future. I’m going to bookmark this so I can use it for reference.
Have a question in regards to the CPU, since some coins can be mined via CPU, what would be the consequences to have a good CPU and also mine something with it while the GPU´s also do some mining, then i would get some extra mining power? or am i thinking wrong here?
Keep in mind, though, the mining world is a whirlwind of change. The tools that you pick up today might be obsolete next year, and some mining pools might fall away while others emerge, so it’s worth keeping aware of industry shifts.
I’ve got a question. I’m loving the shader so far, but is there a way to make the night vision effect work with the shader? I’ve got the spider queen mod installed for 1.7.10 and when in the darkness you get permanent night vision, but with the shader active it’s still pitch black. The effect is still active, just no visible change. Any ideas?
The 168 MH/s Ethereum Mining Rig is provided by MineShop. It holds 6 AMD graphic cards, the AMD RX 470. These mining rigs are specially developed and reconfigured for Ethereum mining, making them the most efficient and cheapest for mh and power usage per mh Ethereum miner on MineShop. You can also mine Ethereum through a cloud mining contract with Hashflare or Genesis Mining.
A: This guide covers using Windows 10 (make sure it’s 64 bit).  There are also various distros of Linux that can be used (not covered here).  But Windows is the easiest to configure and get up and running fast.  There is no Mac version at this time.
A hash algorithm turns an arbitrarily-large amount of data into a fixed-length hash. The same hash will always result from the same data, but modifying the data by even one bit will completely change the hash. Like all computer data, hashes are large numbers, and are usually written as hexadecimal. BitCoin uses the SHA-256 hash algorithm to generate verifiably “random” numbers in a that requires a predictable amount of CPU effort. Generating a SHA-256 hash with a value less than the current target solves a block and wins you some coins.
Not happy with how netherrack looks orange, magma becomes a bright orange, and lava is like a blinding, golden fire, no matter what texture pack I use, or with no texture pack. There is also a general haziness to everything, like moving through a thin fog on a spring morning, only it’s everywhere. Sort of like very early ENBSeries on Skyrim before it actually worked correctly.
Mining cryptocurrency is becoming an attractive source of secondary (and passive) revenue for many, and one of the most popular cryptocurrencies to mine right now is Ethereum. That’s because, in the realm of cryptocurrencies, it’s easily the second most established — only behind Bitcoin. That caused its price to skyrocket over the course of 2017; it went from less than $20 at the beginning of the year to near $1,000 by the end. Anyone that was into mining Ethereum in the early days made significant gains.
Bitcoins per Block – Each time a mathematical problem is solved, a constant amount of Bitcoins are created. The number of Bitcoins generated per block starts at 50 and is halved every 210,000 blocks (about four years). The current number of Bitcoins awarded per block is 12.5. The last block halving occurred on July 2016 and the next one will be in 2020.
The kind of monitor that you use depends on the video out on the motherboard. For the AM1 platform, I believe the standard video outs include HDMI, VGA, and DVI. For this kind of build, though, you will likely want to buy a second-hand or reduce price monitor. This is something you will probably end up running headless (without a monitor) so you could probably just use whatever you have on hand.
