@adaseb Yep, they COUNT on folks like you! Disregard all technical feasibility and solid evidence on the ‘net that it’s bogus, but sooo wanting it to be true that you swallow it hook, line, and sinker. Go for it! Buy the limit! We’d all like to hear about your experience with it, really.
Dear fiend, I’m experiencing a problem that showed up today, after an unwanted windows update (that I was stopping for about 3 weeks), my mining rig slowed down a 35% in hash rate. I have windows 10. Are you or anyone else you know having the same problem ?
Honestly its super weird how this issue was resolved. Basically I just rebooted several times and then it started working…. I really don’t get this stuff, I have 2 degrees in computer science and an A+ cert and still don’t understand it lol
Miners use their computers to run programs which attempt to solve very compicated math problems which are used to validate, and embed blocks. Mining uses a very large amount of computing power and in turn it also uses a lot of electricty, neither of which come free. So as an incentive, the network rewards those who mine.

Some settings should be modified in Windows to get you ready for mining.  First, you don’t want your computer to go to Sleep as it will interrupt your mining so go into your Power Settings and set it to “Never” turn off/sleep.
If you are mining on the Bitcoin.com mining pool and have questions on getting started, fees, or payouts, simply login and head over to the Getting Started page to read some common question and answers. There is also a community forum where users can engage with other miners.
The Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti remains one of the most powerful graphics cards in the world, and is our recommendation as the best graphics card for 4K gaming. However, as a mining GPU, it is also an excellent choice, but there are a few considerations that prevent it being higher up this list. First of all, it’s still an expensive GPU, and the power consumption is high compared to other cards. This means the return on your investment is less, and will take longer to cover your costs. If you don’t mind splashing out on this GPU (or you’re going to also use it to play games with), then you’ll be very happy with the results, especially as with a bit of tweaking you can get a hash rate of 32 mh/s.
had a quick question on setting up geth – I’ve gotten to step 7 and while syncing it keeps generating the same few lines of text (“imported new block receipts, imported new block headers”, etc.) should this be expected? how long does this usually take to complete?
If you’re used to Windows and haven’t ever gone near Linux, then stay with Windows. If you’re planning on using 6 GPUs, then Windows 10 is recommended as it has support built in naturally. Windows 7 & 8 will require some playing around with. If you are used to command line style systems, and mining will be the only aim of the rig, then I’d highly recommend looking at ethOS.
The reason a 3GB card is not a good idea is that when mining there is a large file that is stored in memory called the DAG, and this file grows over time. The DAG is already larger than 2GB and if you have a 3GB card then when the DAG becomes more than 3GB you can no longer mine. This can be circumvented with a DAGless miner, but that won’t be covered in this tutorial, and expenses rack up quickly for smaller memory cards.

-minspeed   minimal speed for ETH, in MH/s. If miner cannot reach this speed for 5 minutes for any reason, miner will be restarted (or “reboot.bat” will be executed if “-r 1” is set). Default value is 0 (feature disabled).
Note : one may say “sounds weird to me, why hashing etc ?” Well, this is the Proof-of-Work paradigm, which solves the issue of “consensus”. For example, Zcash’s algorithm was introduced in a paper called Asymmetric Proof-of-Work Based on the Generalized Birthday Problem.
If you’ve been thinking about getting into the world of mining for Ethereum you’ll want to know exactly how to get started and how to improve the overall efficiency of this process you’ll learn that and more in this quick guide!
The easiest and quickest to get involved in is NiceHash. The NiceHash miner will automatically choose the best algorithm to hash, whether that’s Ethereum or something else, which pays out in bitcoin. To use NiceHash, simply visit the site and download the AMD or nVidia installer depending on what video card you have (note: some antivirus software picks up mining software as malicious files).
The AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 is the latest GPU from AMD that simply dominates mining.  Stock, it can mine Ethereum at 33 MH/s using around 200 watts but with a little tweaking, the hash rate can be as high as 41 MH/s using as little as 135 watts!  This card is simply a monster.  They are flying off the shelves so make sure you grab yours when you can.  You can buy them here.

The Fiji based GPUs such as the Nano and Fury aren’t that cost effective and as the file size increases due to their limited VRAM buffer capacity they do fall well behind the R9 390 series. When it all boils down to it the GTX 1070 looks to be king as it offers solid performance and a very high level of efficiency. The R9 390 and 390X are faster, but will consume much more power.
Rich Clarke- please add Rich Clarke to your dev team. If you are reading my post and wondering why I am recommending Rich Clarke be added to your dev team, please read his post above “Ode to GPU Mining”- he’s right on. And Rich, if you read this: thanks from a fellow lover of his GPU mining machines, for your thoughtful epistle. Perhaps X11 would be a good algo to start with and tweak? It sure mines nicely with GPUs and is certainly ASIC resistant…
I talked about my reasons for selecting Claymore’s miner over other alternatives in my Linux guide, but to sum up: it’s currently the fastest, most stable Ethereum miner that’s still under active development. The downside is that it’s not free—about 1% of your mining time will benefit the creator of the software instead of you. However, even after the usage fee, you’ll come out ahead compared to the alternatives.
Complicating the matter further is that Bitcoin ASICs can often be made to cater to both ends of the spectrum by varying the clock frequency and/or the power provided to the chip (often via a regulated voltage supply). As such, chips can not be directly compared.

Troubleshooting tip:  Some miners have had success installing all GPU’s at once and then installing the drivers.  Others prefer to install only one card, install the drivers, shut down the system and then install the rest of the GPU’s and then just let them all be recognized by Windows (you’ll feel the system lagging, some flickers, or brief black screens while each card is detected by Windows).

The ethminer software uses the ethpool mining pool for mining, the pool fee is 2% and there is a flat fee of 0.01 Ether per payout charged with minimum payout of 1 Ether, also the pool is beta and there could be some issues. The geth software contains only CPU miner while ethminer CPU (up to about 2 times faster than geth CPU mining), OpenCL GPU mining for AMD (also works on Nvidia) and CUDA GPU mining. You can use OpenCL mining on Nvidia GPUs as well, could work on older GPUs that do not work with the CUDA miner. If you have integrated GPU it can also be detected as OpenCL capable and the miner may try to run on it, so you can try to use the –opencl-platform and –opencl-device command line parameters to avoid the problem.
Where it says YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS, use the address you created in step 9 (you’ll need to put “0x” in front of it). The “Miner01” following your address can be changed to any friendly label that you want to give your miner (only important if you plan to run multiple rigs).
