Building your own is much cheaper, and (arguably) more fun! If you’re handy, you can put together a simple aluminium frame yourself for a fraction of the cost of buying one. If you don’t have the necessary skills or tools for that, I popularized building mining rigs inside plastic crates back in 2013, and that still works fine today (for up to 4 GPUs or so, anyway). At the bottom of this post, you’ll find instructions on how to build a plastic crate “case”.
All mining activities run on the GPUs so you won’t need a very powerful CPU to run the rig. Your CPU won’t be used during mining so a lower power chip is prefered. An Intel i3 or Celeron chip will work just fine in a LGA 1150 motherboard.
Mining Ethereum at this point requires a 3GB GPU because of the size of DAG file. DAG stands for Directed Acyclic Graph and is essentially a database of the existing blockchain. In order to mine the next block, your hardware needs to be aware of all the existing blocks. As of this writing, the DAG is just over 2GB, and it only gets bigger with each new step, which happens at least once a week. The vast majority of miners load the entire DAG into VRAM. Without sufficient capacity, the GPU can’t even begin mining operations.
Every ten minutes or so mining computers collect a few hundred pending bitcoin transactions (a “block”) and turn them into a mathematical puzzle. The first miner to find the solution announces it to others on the network. The other miners then check whether the sender of the funds has the right to spend the money, and whether the solution to the puzzle is correct. If enough of them grant their approval, the block is cryptographically added to the ledger and the miners move on to the next set of transactions (hence the term “blockchain”). The miner who found the solution gets 25 bitcoins as a reward, but only after another 99 blocks have been added to the ledger. All this gives miners an incentive to participate in the system and validate transactions. Forcing miners to solve puzzles in order to add to the ledger provides protection: to double-spend a bitcoin, digital bank-robbers would need to rewrite the blockchain, and to do that they would have to control more than half of the network’s puzzle-solving capacity. Such a “51% attack” would be prohibitively expensive: bitcoin miners now have 13,000 times more combined number-crunching power than the world’s 500 biggest supercomputers.

In the moment it is definitely more profitable. Of course I can´t know what is next year. But if you are calculating with current conditions, Ethereum Cloud Mining is more profitable than buying Ether.
You will need a large amount of money for good hardware. This investment will be difficult to return with profit, the return will take several years. I do not advise you to mine, better participate in bounty campaigns.
Solo Mining – Solo mining means its you against the rest. If your hash is correct you win the block reward. But with a rig of 60 MH/s and a network hashing power of 1.2 GH you aren’t going to get ether very often. The other issue is you have to download the blockchain for yourself. Carefully weigh your options, but whichever card you decide on, be prepared to spend a lot of shopping time at the various retailers and resellers. Only if you keep in mind your budget and power costs, you can hope to find that coin at a “fair” price.
Start out small. I don’t recommend starting out by buying hundreds of graphics cards and miners, especially if you have no previous experience with mining. If you start out small you can easily upgrade in the future by either adding rigs to your farm, or by adding graphics cards to your rigs.
Now save your file as Batch file with the bat extension.  Choose File > Save As and then in the box, choose a name for it and then type “.bat” after the name, and in the Save as type box, make sure you select “All Files”, and then click Save.  Congrats, you now have a batch file ready to mine!  Create a shortcut for the new Bat file and send it to your desktop.  You can then delete the text file version of the file.  
The Ethereum Daily Rewards Chart is misleading. The new supply of eth (block reward) is only one piece of the mining reward. Transaction fees are another important piece that has increased quite a bit recently. Not always a big factor, these fees have contributed between 1k to 3k to the daily total mining reward and are worth noting if future usage of the network skyrockets with various scaling implementations.
What kind of GPUs would you use? Do you have any examples? I’ve heard of external GPUs for workstation docks. In theory, it should work, since cryptomining generally runs off the GPU and doesn’t use the CPU very much.
Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 109,271 GH/s and using an ETH – USD exchange rate of 1 ETH =306.01. Block reward is fixed at 3  ETH and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 15 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.074 per kWh.

Therefore, you must succeed in finding a GPU miner that satisfies both objectives. GPUs offer different rates of power consumption that range between 150 W to a whopping 500 W. It is easy to buy majority of GPUs that are listed below, on leading online shopping portals such as eBay or Amazon.
I prefer using what’s called a picoPSU. A picoPSU generally supplies power somewhere under 200 watts. It also tends to offer higher efficiencies than standard power supplies, at around 80 to 90 percent efficiency. If you’re using an RX 460, you can get away with a picoPSU. The model I recommend is the 160-XT. The XT includes a 4-pin CPU connector.
