I had two previous contracts one for Bitcoin and one for Ether, both had very good returns with regular deposits to my wallet. Just took out a much larger DASH contract for 2 years, deposits of dash started the next day.

The Ethereum mining difficulty had been steadily increasing since July but recently dropped from a high of ~3,000T to ~1,500T. Nvidia users will have MUCH more flexibility when it comes to mining other coins whereas AMD RX users are more of a one trick pony for Ethash. AMD RX cards can mine other crpyto, but not nearly as good as Nvidia cards.
The name of the chipset produced by Nvidia or AMD for each card remains the same (such as RX 480). You’ll notice that various models are available from different Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). For example, you might encounter the MSI Gaming Radeon RX 480.

This is quite a useful list that has the information on the hash rates of many AMD and Intel CPU’s, and this list is constantly being updated. That being said, the more powerful your mining hardware is the more likely you are to successfully mine Ether, and in turn generate a profit. If you use one of the three GPUs mentioned above, you’re off to a good start.
OK, so that sounds like a pretty serious error, the card is halting its mining operation for some reason. It could be overheating or experiencing some other kind of hardware or software error. Can you find the log file? Reading it would probably reveal why the card is giving problems. I believe adding the “-dbg 1” switch will create a log file which will help for troubleshooting.
Some numbers – running ethminer on my CPU gives me a hashrate of 0.248 megahashes per second (MH/s). For comparison, each of my over-clocked AMD R9 390X GPUs gives me a hashrate of about 31.58 MH/s. My GPU gives me 127x the hashrate of my CPU. It is a lowish end CPU AMD FX(tm)-6350 6 core processor and with motherboard + CPU + disk drive + fans consumes about 200 Watts, or 4.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day.
I recommend mining the most profitable coin for you. So, if you’re using AMD GPUs then Monero and Ethereum are the most profitable option for you. If you’re using NVidia, ZCash and Ethereum are the most profitable. It’s your choice to choose which of these two coins to mine, and I recommend mining whichever one you think has the brightest future, as what you mine today may be worth $10 now, but $100 in a few months. You can always trade your mined currency for a different coin if you believe that is a better option. I am already a customer of Genesis and have been using them for 3 months now. The return from mining is decent and the ROI is great (1 year payback from the 2 year Monero contract).. I wish they have the BTC mining back.. most of the contract are sold out right now.
I’m about to buy (1) R9 280x HIS R9 280X IceQ Boost Clock 3GB GDDR5 PCI-E DLDVI-I/HDMI/2xMini DP + (1) 750W PSU. I’m confident that I will be able to ROI, but it seems too risky because nothing else is worth mining with it besides Ethereum.
We are going to be using the very popular Claymore Miner.  Get the current version here from Claymore’s original Bitcointalk thread and download the current version from the Google or Mega download links he provides (don’t use other people’s links).  The current version as of the time of this writing is 9.6 and you’ll want to get the Catalyst and Cuda version (not the Linux version).

Cloud mining is definitely the easiest way to start mining, as you can purchase a mining contract whenever you like. You do not need to setup a rig or even have an internet connection, the company which hosts the miners will do this all for you. But if don’t want to build a mining rig and just want to mine ethereum with single GPU I will suggest you to go with  AMD Radeon R9 295X2, as it is the most powerful mining hardware in the market.
Furthermore, managing equipment can prove highly laborsome, particularly because skilled technician are few and far between. Repairs can crop up regularly, and changes in mining clients and software/hardware configurations constantly demand attention. Maintenance fees can end up eating away at larger and larger percentages of daily profits.
