There are many who tell us that they can mine cheaper by themselves according to their calculations. However, it always turned out that they forgot about one or more of the above listed costs. Hi Elmer, unless you are using the six pin connector on a discrete card, it will pull wattage from the PCIe slot — and you will overdraw if you use more than one RX 460. I apologize for not making this clearer.
In the moment it is definitely more profitable. Of course I can´t know what is next year. But if you are calculating with current conditions, Ethereum Cloud Mining is more profitable than buying Ether.
The GPU is still the biggest factor in determining mining performance and which card you have matters greatly. AMD cards are still king in total mining performance, just as they were in Bitcoin’s early days. Nvidia microarchitecture (through Maxwell) wasn’t focused on general purpose computing like AMD’s Graphics Core Next. Actual hash rates will vary between different mining software, operating systems, and drivers, but even a GTX 980 Ti can’t keep up with, say, an older mid-range AMD card. Nvidia has made changes in Pascal that make 10-series cards quite capable miners. Then again, if you’re using a recent generation Nvidia card for mining, you’re more likely mining on the side with your current machine rather than making a dedicated mining system out of spare parts.

Some numbers – running ethminer on my CPU gives me a hashrate of 0.248 megahashes per second (MH/s). For comparison, each of my over-clocked AMD R9 390X GPUs gives me a hashrate of about 31.58 MH/s. My GPU gives me 127x the hashrate of my CPU. It is a lowish end CPU AMD FX(tm)-6350 6 core processor and with motherboard + CPU + disk drive + fans consumes about 200 Watts, or 4.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day.
