Ethereum basiert wie Bitcoins auf einer Blockchain-Technologie. Ethereum ist aber keine reine Kryptowährung, sondern geht noch ein paar Schritte weiter. Was viele nun aber sicherlich am meisten interessiert ist: Lohnt das Mining von Ether für den Privatanwender noch?
About a week ago I was hunting for a few Radeon cards for a project, specifically a second Nitro+ RX 570 for a crossfire comparison, needless to say I couldn’t find one and gave up.  A friend of mine said he was looking for a second RX 480 for his setup and that he couldn’t find one outside of crazy high prices, chalked that up to EOL on the RX 480s and told him to snag a similar RX 580.  He couldn’t find one of those either.  Thinking he just didn’t know how to search, since he’s not very computer savvy, I decided to help out.  That’s when things got interestingly and eerily similar to searching for a Radeon card in late 2013 – early 2014 back when I was deep into Litecoin and Feathercoin mining.  Then I came across Ethereum and everything became clear.  While I’m not going to pretend to be an expert on Ethereum I am no stranger to the world of crypto currencies. Having spent months on end tweaking GPU bat files for LTC and FTC while setting up ASIC miners for BTC, I decided to jump in on this one to see what the craze was all about!
It just occurred to me that the reason why ETH plans to switch to proof of stake is to discourage ASIC research and development. It seems likely they never plan to implement PoS, rather to just keep mentioning it.  If this is true, it’s a very peculiar security model.
Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 23,555,434,604 GH/s and using a BTC – USD exchange rate of 1 BTC = $ 9,634.65. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the BTC USD conversion rate. Block reward is fixed at 12.5 BTC and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 600 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
One of three things is going on here, either the person really does not know what they are talking about (e.g. hashrates for RX 400 & 500 series, the R9 only coming in 4gb, etc), or they are advertising for Nvidia, or they are attempting to get a sell off for AMD cards. If you have a GPU with 2GB of memory and receive the following error: “Allocating/mapping single buffer failed with: clCreateBuffer(-61). GPU can’t allocate the DAG in a single chunk. Bailing.” You can try setting the GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT environment variable to 100 by running in the command line the following command before the miner: SET GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 to see if it will fix the problem.
If you’re building a dedicated mining rig, then you probably want your mining rig to boot up and start mining automatically, without any user intervention. We’ll need to enable auto-login for that to be possible.

This is why I have somewhat regularly pointed out (well, at least a few times), that ethash isn’t really memory-hard, it is memory-capacity-hard. And requiring memory-capacity certainly doesn’t make an algorith sufficiently memory hard.

Step 14 GPU mining (only do this after your blockchain is synchronised): Type in ethminer -G and press enter and then you should start mining with your GPU after building a DAG file which can take around ten minutes. There can be problems at this point. For example the program might say that you have insufficient memory on your Graphics card to mine the with Ethereum’s Ethash algorithm. If this is the case you can still mine with your CPU or go out and buy a new graphics card! GPUs were the next available option for miners after noticing that the CPUs were becoming slower with each given day. They realized that the energy consumption of graphics cards was quite high, and so they could be used to mine Bitcoins. AMD GPUs are actually the best in this regard.
To calculate the size of the PSU you require you will need to add together the power requirements of all of your components. A site like PCPartPicker will do this for you perfectly. Add 20% on to the required as a safety factor. Also, make sure you’re using a high-quality, well recognized, and high-standard PSU, as if it blows, you could say goodbye to some very expensive equipment.

Proof-of-Stake muss zudem nicht zwingend zu einer übermäßigen Kapitalanhäufung führen, wenn der Stake nicht zu hoch gewählt wird. Ich denke nicht, dass Jemand viel Kapital investiert um 1% minten zu können. Da sind die Kursschwankungen/Kursrisiken viel zu hoch dafür.
Indeed, while SHA-256 and Scrypt are extremely compute-hungry, consequently rendering ASICs more efficient than our graphics cards (even more so than CPUs), Ethash is rather dependent on memory performance (frequency, timing, and bandwidth). With their fast GDDR5, GDDR5X, and HBM, graphics cards are perfectly suited to mine Ethereum.

In Notepad create a file with the below text and save it as a gethsync.bat, in your Ether folder. Launch this bat file every time before you start mining. You can also create a shortcut to it on your homescreen.
You have a whole lot of options when it comes to choosing an Ethereum wallet. The no-frills option for people who are comfortable working from the command line is Geth. Other wallets offer easy-to-use interfaces, and some can store other cryptocurrencies in addition to Ethereum. Popular choices include Coinbase, Jaxx, Mist, Exodus, or MyEtherWallet. There are dozens of wallets out there, so you’ll want to do some research to find the wallet that will work best for you.
As you can  see in the dual mining configuration, the last part is “-dcri 25”. That means that the  dual coin is set to mine intensively ,  and it shows how much GPU core is assigned for that task. Yes it’s needed for solo mining too, and needs to be set to 6! This is a very important part because it’s DEPENDANT ON THE GPU SERIES. The only noticeable difference between the RX 570 and RX 580 series is their GPU Core. The memory (used for ethereum mining) is almost the same on those cards, so there is basically no difference in  the ethereum hashrate, but the big difference comes in the GPU Core. The RX 580 series can handle around -dcri 25, don’t go above that because it can reduce your ethereum hashrate. For RX 570 series the optimal -dcri is around 19-22. For some cards even lower as 13, this needs to be tested by yourself. The proper way would be to start with -dcri 10. Then using your keyboard press “+” or “-”, that way you can increase or decrease -dcri by 1, as you will see on the claymore miner. By going up you will see the dual coin hash rate going up, repeat  that until you can start to see the ethereum hashrate decrease, then, after you find that spot reduce -dcri by 3, so you are not pushing the GPU to the limit. On the RX 570 series it’s possible to get a higher hashrate on ethereum with dual mining rather than just solo mining. Optimal for RX 570 is around -dcri 19 , optimal for RX 580 series is around -dcri 25. For some cards it’s possible to go even further, but it’s not worth it to stress the GPU too much.
Step 3:Now you need to run the program you just downloaded. To do this you need to run Command Prompt. You can do this by searching in the search function in Windows for “CMD” and then clicking on it when it shows up.
This is the main difference that exists between GPU and FPGA, both as the best Bitcoin mining rigs: A 600 MH/s hash rate GPU uses about 400-watts of power, while an 826 MH/s hash rate FPGAs consumes just 80-watts of power.
I just built a 6 card Rig with Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Windforce OC cards and a MSI Pro Z170A SLI Plus Pro Motherboard. I am getting rock solid stability at 194 Mh/s with GPU temps 57-47-53-53-53-47. My power usage is 850 watts. Runs real cool. I highly recommend the marriage of these parts. Very pleased with the Rigs performance.
IMPORTANT– never use WiFi to connect your mining rigs, from my experiences that can cause big trouble. Higher ping, random disconnects, Wifi freezing at start of mining, shares rejected and so on. For example my Wifi adapter would stop working if it was directly connected to the mining rig, but if I was using an usb extender so I can place Wifi Adapter away from the rig (1-2m) then it would work, as if the rig itself disrupted the Wifi signal, as strange as it sounds…. If you want to use Wifi, use the 5G. The more mining rigs you have, the more trouble with Wifi you will get.
