Cryptocurrency mining is a big buzz topic in technology these days. And why not? Utilizing your computer to mine what seems like free money only begs the question, “where do I sign up?” Your machine will actually be “mining” or processing transactions for a decentralized currency, the hottest variant of which is called Ethereum.  Poised to overtake the industry bellwether Bitcoin, Ethereum has experienced explosive growth with roughly a $35 billion dollar market cap currently.
You can use any personal computer to mine Ethereum, provided the system has a Graphic Card (GPU) with at least 2 GB of RAM. Central Processing Unit (CPU) mining is simply an exercise in frustration. It takes an extended period to complete, and the profits are little thanks to the cost. GPUs are your best bet as they are 200 times faster than CPUs when it comes to mining Ether. AMD cards are more efficient than Nvidia cards as well.
Where it says YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS, use the address you created in step 9 (you’ll need to put “0x” in front of it). The “Miner01” following your address can be changed to any friendly label that you want to give your miner (only important if you plan to run multiple rigs).
all these ‘experts’ on here saying you could never produce an asic because it relies on memory don’t know what they’re talking about. You can design the circuit and asic to utilise whatever kind of memory is optimum. If you want large amounts of memory there are cheaper memory parts out there than the kind used in GPU cards (which are the most expensive) and if you want faster memory bandwidth then with asics you can have multiple busses, or very large busses to give you the bandwidth you need. So YES, an asic is not only possible but it would be faster than GPUs… But would it be economically viable? is it worth doing? (no!.. because PoS is coming)
STEP – Remove any overclock and undervolt from Claymore “start.bat” file if you were using those commands before (-cclock, -mclock, -cvddc, -mvddc) , even -tt and any other option. Claymore overclock and undervolt tools are terrible and have various problems:
Please do your own legwork before looking for handouts. We are a helpful community but are not the place for hand-holding new miners through every step of the process. See the multitude of intro guides for that. Similarly, simple questions belong in the “Simple Questions” monthly thread.
ethminer communicates with geth on port 8545 (the default RPC port in geth). You can change this by giving the –rpcport option to geth. Ethminer will find get on any port. Note that you need to set the CORS header with –rpccorsdomain localhost. You can also set port on ethminer with -F http://127.0.0.1:3301. Setting the ports is necessary if you want several instances mining on the same computer, although this is somewhat pointless. If you are testing on a private cluster, we recommend you use CPU mining instead.
2. You say that “You can also change the memory clock. However, this has a smaller effect”. Is this for real? Everywhere I read about overclocking it has been said that the memory increase increases your hashrate. The core clock also increase it, but this affects the power consumption.

That’s incredible, I remember when it was impossible to get ASIC miners from ButterflyLabs and we were all up in arms because of their inappropriate behavior. That was a niche vendor producing items that had basically no other uses.
Well, firstly choose one you’ve encountered several times in forums and articles. Make sure it’s not a scam. Are there active miners ? Is this a beta service ? Pools are usually dedicated to a cryptocurrency, but they tend to create series of pools with the same brand, one for each currency. There are also “multipools” (auto-switching cryptopools), see section VI. Moreover, most pools are not free. They include a fee, usually 1 to 3 %. Go and read their Terms of Service to find it. Then, look at the specs. Does it support : stratum protocol, statistics (with hashrate reporting), a clear payout scheme ? The following services are appreciated : SSL connexion, alerts, payment threshold, no registering (“anonymous”).
You will need to Download Geth. This application will serve as a communication hub, linking you to the Ethereum platform while coordinating your setup (hardware and all) and reporting any new development that requires action on your part.
There are also Ethereum Mining Contracts such as by Genesis Mining. These companies provide you with your own dedicated mining rig, and you have to pay for this up front. Again, unless you’re speculating heavily on the pricing, these don’t tend to be worth it.
One of the advantages of Ethereum over Bitcoin or Litecoin has to do with the algorithm chosen to validate the proof-of-work (PoW). While BTC relies on SHA-256 and Litecoin on Scrypt for its hash function, Ethereum calls on an algorithm called Ethash, created especially for this purpose. In practice, it was designed from the start to prevent the development of dedicated ASICs to mine it.
If you ever needed to reinstall your wallet, do so then put this keystore folder EXACTLY where it was before. Start up your Ethereum and it’ll ask for the password that you originally saved with that address.
If it’s not included in your driver software, you’ll need a utility that monitors overclocking and temperatures. (While overclocking is not intended for more advanced users, it may reduce the lifetime of your GPU, and certain minor alterations may yield significant hash-rate improvements.)

When choosing a GPU for mining, you want a good balance of low power usage (assuming you pay for electricity) and great hash rates. I’ve listed my recommendations below in the order of what I would buy if I was building a rig today.
4. For all repairs or RMA, within warranty or not, customer must return the defective parts at his/her own expense after opening a support ticket and troubleshooting with Asic Miner Market instructions.
each Motherboard has a FIXED MAX PCI-E support. For example an H81 pro btc has 7, that means you can’t have more than 7 GPU’s connected on that motherboard! (Integrated GPU on the motherboard + 6 GPU = 7 GPU total)
I got a GPU doing around 5MH/S and I decided to mine solo for now. I read about not being connected to the internet while mining solo shouldn’t make problems. Can you confirm that? In which periods do I have to start geth –rpc to keep the chain up synchronized, especially for solo mining?
Click on the ‘Miner’ tab at the top of the screen. From here you can choose a specific cryptocurrency to mine such as Ether rather than have MinerGate choose for you. Click on ‘Start Mining’ next to ETH. MinerGate will congratulate you on mining “like a man” by doing it manually.
2) After generating the Account, add a wallet and write down or copy to a text file the unique address. This address will start with the characters “0x”. It’s necessary for receiving ETH mining rewards!
-cclock   set target GPU core clock speed, in MHz. If not specified or zero, miner will not change current clock speed. You can also specify values for every card, for example “-cclock 1000,1050,1100,0”.
Second, I worked out a way to benchmark using different DAG (directed acyclic graph) file sizes. Chances are the other clients can do this as well, I just didn’t work out how. I felt it important to test various DAG file sizes to show future performance as well. As the DAG file size increases, so too does the difficulty. A new DAG is generated for each epoch around every 30,000 blocks and right now it is estimated that this will happen every 4 days or so. For example, at the start of the month Ethereum was at DAG epoch #126 and now we’re already over #130 and next month we should hit #140, but don’t hold me to that.
