How much each pip is worth is called the “pip value.” For any pair where the USD is listed second in the currency pair, the above mentioned pip values apply. If the USD is listed first, the pip value may be slightly different. To find the pip value of the USD/CHF for example, divide the normal pip value (mentioned above) by the current USD/CHF exchange rate. For example, a micro lot is worth $0.10/0.9435 = $0.1060, where 0.9435 is the current price of the pair, and subject to change. For JPY pairs (USD/JPY), go through this same process, but then multiple by 100. For a more detailed explanation, see Calculating Pip Value for Different Forex Pairs and Account Currencies.
Now let’s say I have the same coin, but this time if heads is hit, you would triple your net worth; but when tails was hit, you would lose every possession you own. Would you flip that coin? My guess is you would not because one bad flip of the coin would ruin your life. Even though you have the exact same percentage advantage in this example as the example above, no one in their right mind would flip this coin.
Geth is the program that communicates with the Ethereum Network and acts as the a relay between your computer, its hardware and the rest of the ethereum network computers so if a block is mined by another computer your Geth program will pick it up and then pass on the new information onto your GPU or CPU for mining.
To get something out of eth mining you need to put something in. The main costs you’ll face include the hardware and setup costs as well as the maintenance costs. These costs apply to solo mining and pool mining. For cloud mining, the fee you pay for a contract is your cost.
Some numbers – running ethminer on my CPU gives me a hashrate of 0.248 megahashes per second (MH/s). For comparison, each of my over-clocked AMD R9 390X GPUs gives me a hashrate of about 31.58 MH/s. My GPU gives me 127x the hashrate of my CPU. It is a lowish end CPU AMD FX(tm)-6350 6 core processor and with motherboard + CPU + disk drive + fans consumes about 200 Watts, or 4.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day.
Bitcoin mining and Ethereum mining are quite different. Ethereum’s development team is more centralized and can therefore can plan and implement POW changes. The Ethereum development team currently has plans to change Ethereum from proof of work to proof of stake. Changes to the mining algorithm are much harder to implement with Bitcoin and aren’t likely to happen.
A Stack is CloudFormation language for a set of infrastructure specified by a pre-defined Template. You’ll want to choose the Upload a template to Amazon S3 option and then choose the CloudFormation Template file you downloaded from my GitHub repo (eth-mining-cfn.template).
Create a tradeable digital token that can be used as a currency, a representation of an asset, a virtual share, a proof of membership or anything at all. These tokens use a standard coin API so your contract will be automatically compatible with any wallet, other contract or exchange also using this standard.

By entering the above details into an Ethereum Mining Calculator, you’ll be presented with a rough guide of your expected profits. While the calculator will automatically enter the current figure for difficulty, keep in mind that difficulty is very likely to rise in the future. Ethereum’s high price lures in more miners!
If the miner finds a hash that matches the current target, the miner will be awarded ether and broadcast the block across the network for node to validate and add to their own copy of the ledger. If miner B finds the hash, miner A will stop work on the current block and repeat the process for the next block.
What you write above seems to me extremely optimistic. Can one COUNT on making the kinds of returns you speak of on a regular basis? Does your experience indicate that it can be done REGULARLY? Remember, to make an AVERAGE income of $250 a day from a $10,000 account – as you say above is possible – means that one would make 2.5% per (trading) day: which is equivalent, with compounding, to over 60,000% per annum (given a tad over 250 trading days in a year)!!! That’s a MAD rate of return. Heck, even Warren Buffett has been satisfied with only a 20% per-annum rate of growth!
Overclocking: Overclocking is the simpler of the two methods. Windows and ethOS support these easily through Wattman and ethos-overclocking respectively. The general rule of thumb is that increasing the mem clock by 10% increases your hashrate by 10%. You can also change the core clock. However, this has a smaller effect. Also, reducing core clock can be beneficial because it can reduce your power use and while your hashrate will be slightly lower, you could be positive overall as you’ll be using less power. The right core/mem balance will depend on your electricity cost and hashrate.
