Step 7: You need to tell your Geth Program to start communicating with the rest of the Ethereum network. You do this by typing in “geth –rpc” – this should look like “C:\>geth –rpc” (on the latest version you should try: geth –rpc –fast –cache=1024) Press enter and the screen should start downloading the blockchain for Ethereum – at this point you are synchronising with the rest of the Ethereum network. This can take a while depending on your internet speed and the current size of the blockchain, anywhere between 20 min and multiple hours. Sometimes your firewall can block this process – just click allow access. Keep this cmd open, you will need this to run in the background in order to be able to mine. Also make sure you start mining only after your blockchain is synchronised, not before. Due to The DAO hard fork you will have to specify if you want to mine on the hard fork chain or on the chain without the hard fork. To mine Ethereum (ETH) use geth –rpc –support-dao-fork in order to mine Ethereum Classic (ETC) use: geth –rpc –oppose-dao-fork

With this setup, you’d find on average around 0.5Eth per month. This will change depending on the Ethereum Mining Difficulty, you can use the website WhatToMine to make calculations of your earnings or find other profitable coins to mine.
How far will the cryptocurrency madness go? While the number of different coin varieties is always increasing, only a handful have attained enough market capitalization to be truly viable. Ethereum, a blockchain-based distributed computing platform, and its associated token, ether, is one of the most popular.
Nvidia has great cards for gamers, but the mining community runs on AMD. For several reasons. “Historically”, Bitcoin mining chose in between Nvidia and AMD : the latter seemed to have a far better integer computation performance, which is typically what cryptography is about – integers – so it does make a difference for cryptocurrencies. Note that AMD also gives a good floating-point performance. While Nvidia dominates the high-end market with the fastest performance in absolute terms, AMD is said to reach the best mining performance per watt.
With Ethereum, the door is opened wider as only GPUs can be used to mine. In order to have any hash rate that is comparable to an ASIC miner, you’d have to string together dozens of GPUs. This creates an ecosystem that is more balanced and prevents consolidation of power. To be more technical, Ethereum mining requires more RAM than an ASIC miner can provide since mining is actually CPU mining, not GPU mining.

Hi Bhavesh, OK, this seems to be a fairly common error but it’s beyond my capabilities to diagnose precisely from that log. I’ve seen a variety of solutions to this issue proposed on various forums: https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/18806/couldnt-connect-to-node/23153#23153 https://github.com/ethereum/mist/issues/2426 https://github.com/ethereum/mist/wiki#unable-to-find-peers I suggest starting with the simple solutions first before trying the more advanced stuff. So if using Windows, start things up in Administrator mode. Then try starting Geth manually with the –nat=none flag. Then try starting from the command line as someone suggested. You can also backup your data directory, rename / move it, and let the wallet resync itself… From there,… Read more »
– You can combine any amd card in one system or any nvidia card in one system. I don’t recommend using both an amd and nvidia as there are more complications and fixes. So YES you can use say a GTX 760 and a GTX 970 or a 290X and 380.
Claymore’s miner doesn’t need DAG files now because the GPU can compute the DAG in under 5 seconds. Create an asic designed to do exactly that, and you might get that down to a handful of clock cycles.
I think the approach is wrong. It is based on competition instead of cooperation. The ones with the most hash power, most coins, or most memory gains more. Whatever the new requirement is, miners will adapt and change to gain an advantage.
Hopefully at this step everything is great. In the command prompt or PowerShell you used above, cd into /cpp-ethereum/ethminer/Debug. You’re going to see a file called `libcurld.dll`. Make a copy of that file and place it in the same directory, removing the ‘d’ in the name to make it `libcurl.dll`. I’m not sure why, but there’s some build error which causes that name to be incorrect, which causes ethminer to fail at runtime.
Installed Mine.bat file in main folder and at startup. However, the last line, C:\windows\system32>ethdcrminer64.exe -epool…. , will not execute. States this file is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program of batch file. Why is this ethdcrminer64.exe file not found? Seems to be pointing to windows\System32 folder. Stuck in Mobile with the Memphis Blues again.
Graphic cards are particularly adapted for these simple, repeated and parallel operations : they have many ALUs (Arithmetic Logic Unit) or shaders for video processing. Whereas your CPU is a very good executive, a GPU is an unmatched laborer ! For the same cost, you’ll end up with a far better mining rate with a GPU. And should you prefer CPU-mining, you’ll need a high-end CPU, meaning usually high-end mobo plus RAM. Moreover, having several CPUs is expensive and quite unusual for desktop computers, while multi-GPU doesn’t scare anyone.
Eigenes Risiko. My 2 Pfennig.Weniger anzeigenMehr anzeigen
Apart from just looking for the best Bitcoin mining rig, you should also look for the one that is very efficient. Mining needs a lot of energy, and therefore you should look or one that can be able to convert more energy quantity into Bitcoins.
Ethereum Mining Rechner (Calculator) >klick< -mpsw   remote monitoring/management password. By default it is empty, so everyone can ask statistics or manage miner remotely if "-mport" option is set. You can set password for remote access (at least EthMan v3.0 is required to support passwords). We could have talked about mining for days, but it really depends on what hardware you get and how you configure all your software. The AMD Radeon RX 580 and Radeon RX 480 are the cards to get right now, but it’s tough to find them. You can build up a rig like this for $2,500 or less and make an extra $1,000 a month at the current rates. We highly suggest looking at Ethereum profit calculators and factor in the build cost and electricity to see if mining is right for you! Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below! Recently, Nvidia has been releasing mining-edition GPUs to satiate the huge demand for mining-capable cards. The first GTX 1xxx-based model to come out was the P106, which is basically a GTX 1060 without the display ports. Then, we had the P104 which is the GTX 1070 with memory optimized for mining. Eventually Nvidia is leaving the best for last. Could someone help me out here. I've got a R280X that should run around 290 h/s on equihash. I runs great guns on Cryptonite 485 h/s but when I start Claymore Zen64 miner it starts out at 275 h/s and then starts to throttle back to 150 h/s. It drops my clock speed in half and I have no control over setting thru MSI afterburner. It mines along but at half the speed 500mhz. Start by decreasing your core clock speed to 1000 mhz from whatever the factory setting was (in the “GPU” area, change the values for state 6 and 7 to 1000 on the Frequency row). Click “Apply” (at the top right). Restart your miner and see how performance looks. There is a good chance that it’s unchanged. If that’s the case, repeat the process, but decrease the core clock speed by another 50 mhz or so. Keep moving down in 50 mhz increments until you notice mining performance drop. When that happens, bump the core clock back up to the previous value—that’s the sweet spot. Bitmain S9 designed by Bit Continent is currently the main type of machine that is specially designed for the mining of Pittcoin. However, since the hash calculation adopted by bitcoin is mainly based on the SHA-256 algorithm, it not only consumes computing power but also consumes energy. In addition, as the number of bitcoins in the future becomes more and more scarce, The harder it is, the bitter continent begins to develop its own ether for the future. Since we are not CPU-mining, performance isn’t determined by the CPU, the RAM or the hard drive : it just has to be working well together, with an internet connexion and reasonable performances. Low-end products will be fine. However, we should pay attention to the TDP of these components, CPU first, because additional heat / electric consumption could decrease profitability. It’s a question of average consumption. Personal tip : I’ve figured out that a 2.5′ HDD – 5400rpm – from an old netbook could draw less power than a low-end SSD ! If you ever needed to reinstall your wallet, do so then put this keystore folder EXACTLY where it was before. Start up your Ethereum and it'll ask for the password that you originally saved with that address. Today we’re going to take a quick look at how current generation GPUs, along with a few older ones, perform when put to the task of Ethereum mining. Cryptocurrency mining is big news at the moment and it seems just about everyone wants in on the action. We are often asked what the best GPUs to mine with are, and since we didn’t have an exact answer we decided to find out.
GPU makers didn’t sign up to build machines that print money. But it turns out when you do make machines that can print money, people tend to buy them at a rate faster than you can make them! Right away, whether or not you did it on purpose.
