I have grown to really love GPU mining. There is something about it. It is a royal pain in the ass really. They generate tons of heat, use a very measurable and large amount of electricity and take a fair amount of tweaking to get right. While your average Joe might not be able to setup GPU mining it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out and get going either. They are not plug and play like ASICs but they also have market value beyond their mining application. To me, a guitarists, GPU miners are the Tube Amps of the mining world. True, the ASICs are more efficient and cheaper but they don’t have that GPU mining feel. You have to really love GPU mining because, as I said, it can be a royal pain. True, there is a barrier to entry with GPUs. They can be expensive. But they are typically readily available and an individual can get into meaningful GPU mining today for under $200 on their home PC. Having the parts available in retail environments is in stark contrast to the black boxes which are the ASIC distributors. CPU mining is very egalitarian as anyone can do it at the drop of the hat with their PC. This seems fine but the option of kicking up a notch to GPU typed power, especially for the enthusiast, is nice IMHO. If someone wants to invest more into contributing increased transaction processing power it is not as easily salable [with CPUs] as GPUs as CPUs require multiple independent systems to scale while many GPUs can be added to a single system allowing for easier management of fewer overall systems. As a Crypto Evangelist, a true believer if you will, I want the opportunity to provide more to the network than a new user that casually points their PC to a mining pool as a curiosity. While large investors see the profit and ease in ASICs far fewer build large scale GPU operations and those that do are typically not just casual investors looking to capitalize on a trend but enthusiasts willing to do a lot of work along with investing their capital.

Any 64-bit edition of Windows 10 should work fine (a 32-bit OS is not capable of running the Ethereum mining software). Windows 7 and 8 will work as well (as long as they’re 64-bit versions), although you may need to do a bit of extra work to recognize all of your GPUs if you’re running more than 4. The guide is written assuming that you have Windows 10, but the steps for 7/8 should be pretty similar.
What I recommend is running a command prompt (I assume you’re in Windows) and then navigating to the Ethereum folder and running the bat file. Doing it this way, the output will not disappear and you’ll be able to get the error message which will help in diagnosis.

You might also want to consider installing Linux on your mining system — one of the lightweight distributions like Lubuntu or Xubuntu is a good option, although there are also Linux distros made specifically for mining. While it’s possible to mine with a Windows PC, it’s a little bit easier with Linux. Currently, you can’t mine Ethereum from a Mac.
Ihr scheint ziemlich linke bis gesellianische Ansichten zu haben. Mir ist das sympathisch, aber die Kryptowährungen sind dafür nicht gemacht. Die sind tatsächlich für reiche Spekulanten gemacht. Wer sich mehr Hardware und mehr Stromverbrauch leisten kann, beginnt bereits mit einem großem Vorteil. Danach geht die Schere immer nur noch weiter auseinander. Das wäre wegen der benötigten sogar dann so, wenn der Coin selbst umlaufgesichert wäre. Mit linken oder gesellianischen Ansichten ist man in der Welt der Kryptowährungen also völlig deplaziert, außer man hätte einen Ansatz, der dermaßen revolutionär ist wie die Blockchain selbst.

Eine ähnliche Entwicklung erlebt gerade eine andere Kryptowährung, das Ethereum. Ein Ether liegt zum Zeitpunkt des Beitrags bei 315 Euro. Im April bekam man für ein Ether gerade mal 40 Euro. So eignen sich Kryptowährungen natürlich für Spekulationen, in dem man sich günstig damit eindeckt und auf eine ähnliche Kursentwicklung hofft, wie sie Bitcoin hingelegt hat. Das ist bei Ethereum auch gar nicht unwahrscheinlich. Im Gegenteil – man erwartet hier sogar ein sog. „Flippening“, also dass Ethereum Bitcoin als Standard-Kryptowährung ablösen könnte. Bestärkt wird das durch die Tatsache, dass Ethereum durch viele namhafte Firmen unterstützt wird.
Miner würden also weiterhin fleißig an den Transaktionsgebühren verdienen. Vielleicht würden dann ein paar Miner eventuell andere Kryptowährungen minen, indem sie ihre Rechenleistung aus dem Bitcoin Netzwerk entziehen und einem anderen Blockchain Netzwerk zur Verfügung stellen. Dadurch würde aber die Gesamtrechenleistung im Netzwerk sinken und die Difficulty würde sich automatisch anpassen.
I see a lot of people are having this same problem. I believe that something must have changed in the new version of Claymore which is causing this error. Can you perhaps install an older version of Claymore?
hi so i now have a new user on my pc but i decided i don’t want to mine anymore and when i sign in it shows 2 users to sign in as When i start up my pc. When i go to where i can delete users it doesn’t show any users to delete.
ASICs are custom built for a single hash algorithm. Therefore, you would need to buy different ASICs for each coin that you wanted to mine. Currently, there are several companies, such as Bitmain and Canaan, that design ASICs. Due to their custom nature and niche application, a powerful ASIC isn’t cheap. For high-end hash power, a single ASIC could run you $3000.
Wenn die Frage ob ein neuer Coin entstehen kann mit ja beantwortet wird, dann wäre der Zeitpunkt für die Entstehung eines neuen Coins bei Stufe 4 ja am wahrscheinlichsten. Dann gäbe es einen Ether mit PoW und einen mit PoS?!

can someone please for the love of all holy help me find the download for ethminer??!!!! the github site is total garbage and for the uninitiated cannot navigate or find what i need! i download what i think is the install file but when i run it it just opens a CMD!!!!
When choosing the CPU, you only need the bare minimum. I wouldn’t recommend getting the absolute cheapest, but one or two points above. The reason for this, is that some extra processing power is useful when setting up and makes reboots slightly quicker. I chose to go with the Intel Celeron G1840.
